Ubuntu :: Won't Translate Gnome-gmail-notifier

Aug 31, 2010

I installed the gnome-gmail-notifier today and I noticed that it wasn't translated. Anyone who knows where to ask for a Swedish translation or how to contribute with one? It's a small application so I figure that it won't be much work to translate it. Not that I need to, but I like to have everything in the same language if possible.

Ubuntu :: Set Empathy Check For Gmail Mails?

May 3, 2010

Is there a way to set empathy check for gmail mails? I use a google talk account and it makes sense to me, that, if I am already logged into gmail, check the mail as well. Pidgin and gtalk have this option, but I can't find it in empathy. I know there are plenty of gmail notification apps, but I just don't see the point of having to install another app that logs into the same account to check the mails...

Ubuntu :: Use Any Browser And Go To Gmail - Can't Get Gmail To Load

Jul 27, 2010

use any browser and go to gmail. i can't get gmail to load. if i browse on videos, links to videos don't work. they appear to be taking a long time to buffer, then a message appears saying to try again. sometimes, links on google search pages are all dead. yahoo mail loads as far as logging me in, then i get a page with all dead links.

i'm using a laptop at several locations that have free public wifi. at some places, everything works perfectly normally. at other places, google and yahoo are almost useless. the "bad" places work just fine under ms windows.

so i figure it's a networking/handshaking issue, but that's all i can figure. i need help to troubleshoot it further. if it's happening to me, it has to be happening to other people, and i consider it a major hassle.

Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Access Gmail. Just Gmail?

When attempting to open gmail, the default internet page shows up for unavailability of page owing to no or slow response from the server, or the firewall or proxy settings not appropriately configured. I cannot open gmail, the connection on empathy im. I cant ping gmail either. No response. What can be the problem.

General :: Restarts From Power Failure - Lose Whatever Work Units That Have Started

May 24, 2010

I run computers that do distributed computing for cancer cures. I'm experimenting with running a version of Ubuntu that is specifically written for DC and can be run on bootable USB drives. The one I'm running now on USB works fine but there is one issue I need to solve. When I reboot the system or it restarts from a power failure I have to reattach the cruncher client(BOINC)to the each project and I lose whatever work units that have started. I don't have this problem if I use a HDD. I'm using an 8GB USB drive with 6GB of DDR3 12800 memory. Can someone explain to a linux novice how to overcome this issue?

Ubuntu :: Find Cumulative CPU Time For Processes For An Interval?

Feb 20, 2010

I want to find the cumulative CPU time used by each process between two points (defined by the user, e.g. running a command or clicking a button).

A first stab at this would be running

Code:
ps -eo pid,cputime

at the beginning of the interval and at the end, then doing some arithmetic on the two sets of results. But this only shows whole seconds of cputime ... and what about processes that started and stopped during the interval?

Debian :: Apt-mirror Not Running At Regular Interval

Mar 27, 2016

I use apt-mirror to sync a local copy of Debian repo on my HDD. I recently reinstalled my Debian setup, and now I can't seem to make apt-mirror run at regular intervals!? As far as I can recall (and as mentioned on different sites) all I have to do is edit /etc/cron.d/apt-mirror

I tried adding the following lines, but nothing works

Code: Select all0 0,6,12,18 * * * apt-mirror    /usr/bin/apt-mirror > /var/spool/apt-mirror/var/cron.log
Code: Select all0 0-23/6 * * * apt-mirror    /usr/bin/apt-mirror > /var/spool/apt-mirror/var/cron.log

Also, the log file is empty!!
