Ubuntu :: Loads White Page Then Go Back To Section To Enter Username & Password

when booting up the system it promts for user and pass. After entering username and password followed by enter the system looks like its going to start. But no, it loads a white page for a couple of seconds and then go back to the section where you enter username & password. Why? the user and pass was correct. If i hit ctrl + alt +f1 and use the same username and password i can login with the CLI. But not in the graphical login prompt. How does such a problem gets fixed?
When I installed Ubuntu on my laptop, I had chosen "automatic login" . So i was not asked ofr username and password everytime I switched on. I later wanted to change the settings. So I went to systems-->administration-->login window-->security. There I disabled automatic login and I reboot the computer. Now the GUI does not allow me to enter Username and password. It says "Authorization denied" at the login screen.
i'm new in ubuntu server..just installed it and i was prompted to enter my username and password..but theni got this prompt:administrator@ubuntuserver:
I have setup a debian server and it has been working fine but I moved it to a different location and not I am getting a problem. When I start the server up, it loads fine and loggin prompt. I can enter the username "root" without any issues but as soon as I press enter, I am not able to enter password. The cursor just blinks and i press enter, the server responds by saying invalid password.
I was connecting a USB keyboard and changed to Ps/2 but this didn't make any difference.
I just downloaded Debian's live CD .iso file. I put it on a USB stick and booted from it. It loads everything then presents me a login screen. I have no idea what the login and password is I've looked all over google and people said it was user: live pass: live or something like that. I've tried a lot of different combinations with no luck. So does anyone know the real username and password for this?
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04LTS. I'm trying to configure my chat accounts. But after entering username and password, it is asking "Enter password to unlock your login keyring". I have entered my login password. But it is saying that "The password you use to log in to your computer no longer matches that of your login keyring."
I have installed phpMyAdmin on Fedora 11 using YUM, along with MySQL, PHP and Apache. The web and database servers are operating fine. However, when loading the web page [URL]... a box appears asking for a username and password. I have tried many combination's including the root with no success. What value does it want, or what setting is wrong. In studying the file httpd.conf in somehow loads the file phpMyAdmin.conf
I have a Windows domain with a proxy. I have an account that can use the proxy and the URL that points to the proxy.pac file. this might seem a stupid question but can anyone tell me how do I enter the username and password for my test Windows account so that Debian can authenticate it?
i am able to try ubuntu and everything works fine until i try to install. the menu comes up to the first page where it tells you to plug in your machine and make sure there is enough disk space and network connectivity. when i hit next on this page the mouse icon changes but the next page never loads. the longest i let it hang there was 2 hours. ive tried multiple times with the same result.

i have xterminus installed. i also have a white block over the first letter in my username and when i begin typing, the 'block-type cursor' just leaves full white spaces behind and i cannot read my text at all. even when i delete back over the white spaces, they stay whited out.
Succeeded in connecting to internet using my wll phone. I can now connect using 'wvdial' command in root terminal. But I want to connect through terminal. I tried 'sudo wvdial' command. Then I am asked for my password. But I cannot type my password there. When I type, nothing appears on the terminal window. Ofcourse there's no problem with my keyboard.
wanted to know if i can execute commands on linux console through a web page and redirect it back to my web page !For example :if i send a query "ls"it should execute this command on my linux console and also redirect the list of the files to the web page from which i give the command !
I just got connected to the internet this morning - it works fine in windows but in linux the page never loads and the error message appears paraphrased as follows: "could not find server".
I not a total noob to linux only a noob to apache.I am Running A lamp server on A VPS with myhosting.com. but try as i might i cant apache2 to load the right page. I have set document root to /slk/redretriever/ but when i load the page it still loads /var/www/vhosts/default/htdocs/.I cant figure out why please help.
I have a rather difficult problem. Every time I need root privileges and I am asked to authenticate (i.e. Update Manager, mounting a partition, etc), the password window comes up, shakes and immediately closes, leaving me with no chance to enter a password. What to do?edit: this is NOT the login window, just the little dialog that pops up when you need elevated privileges.
I am working on different versions of Ubuntu & I looking for a script that will prompt the user to enter the host name & user name that he wanted for that system at initial boot up.
brand new 2 Ubantu & set up standard Ubantu compartment accessed via 1 user name only and password. 1st few times all good but now suddenly, unexpectedly password declared invalid. I recently installed vsftpd on my server. I noticed that users on the machine can login into vsftpd with their username and password on the machine and go to their root dir "/home/username".Now, I want to give some people a vsftpd username and password so they can upload and download files and folders to their folder, but this folder has to be in the "/var/www/(username)" folder. I don't want them to be able to go to any other folder than their own folder like "/var", "/etc" or "/home" etc. Also I don't want them to be able to login on the machine as a user, through putty for example. They should only be allowed to acces their folder with vsftpd, nothing else.
After installing FC11 on my Mac Mini intel terminals, I noticed the network config GUI is completely broke, So I continued with a hand configuration.
Everything seems ok eth0 is up , it has the correct IP, DNS and default gateway, but browser quieries take forever to load.
E.g. if I type Google in the browser it takes about 20seconds before it loads the page.
To add insult to injury, I have a 16Mbit/s Down 2.5Mbit/s uplink. the other 10 or so rackservers on the network responds fast, so it is nothing to do with the network or connection. They all run FC7-9.
The problem is squarely with FC11 and must be some bug not reading or resolving DNS correctly. Anyone have an idea how I can figure this out with FC-11.
It seems to be the worst FC distro.
I generally was happy with all FC6-9, but 11 really sucks (the ppc version wont even install on my ppc terminals)
That the Mighty Mouse Wireless, worlks out of the box is very nice though, but that is all.
I've installed qmailtoaster on CentOS. I use vqadmin for managing virtual domain. I can list the current domains on vqadmin interface. But when I choose "View Domain", enter a my domain and choose "View Domain", I receive a white page. I can't view the information about my domain. Please help me to resolve the problem. I can create a new domain and view the domain on vqadmin but I can't view the existing domains.
im trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on my notebook but it stop on the section of entering my name, computer name, user name, password... and at the bottom section it says... ready when you are...
I've tried Ubuntu, Arch, and most recently Fedora but the SUSE GNOME environment blows everything else away!
The only problem (so far) is that Network Manager requires you to enter your password every time you login to unlock the password keyring. I want to disable this.
I think some distros disable the prompt by using the login password to unlock the keyring, but I use auto-login (if that makes a difference).
When ssh-ing (using putty, if that's relevant), I sometimes mis-type my username, and hit enter before I realise my mistake. Once prompted for a password, is there a a way to go back and re-enter my username rather than having to close the console and open a new one?
Not sure how this happened, but my Print-to-file always automatically displays "File System" as the default save location.Does anybody know how to change this back to save by default to ~/username
After upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10, my laptop wouldn't boot into the GUI. I followed some steps that someone had posted at was able to get X back and working. Now, my laptop lost power without being shut down. I let it fix my disks, and I'm now back in the command line and can't get X working. Here's the weird thing...in the command line, I can enter my username ok, but it won't accept my password. I've figured out that it is the @ symbol in my password that messes things up. (I figured this out because when I typed something in the username, like "test" and then hit the @ key, it erases "test". I imagine it does the same thing and erases my password.)
I use numbers as passwords to enter WUBI installed on my notebook.
Recently i read that i have to use sudo etc. to upgrade to latest Thunderbird 6 linux version. When asked to enter password in sudo, nothing appears when i try to type in. I've used all the keys available. What gives?
Well I have tried everything I can think of and anything on a google search.What I'm trying to do it secure the phpmyadmin folder.I put a .htaccess file in /usr/share/phpmyadmin.I can still just can't get it to pop up a required username and password.
