When I load XP in VirtualBox it starts off with the keyboard working. However, if I leave my computer for 10mins the Ubuntu computer/screensaver lock comes in. When I then go back to my VirtualBox I cannot select the CTRL-right to activate the keyboard. The mouse still works correctly but I cannot type anything.
View 3 RepliesI'm running VirtualBox in Ubuntu 10.10. Been using VirtualBox for ages. It stopped working a few weeks ago but I'm baffled. Windows XP begins to load and you see the animated progress bar then it powers down. There are no errors and it's not creating any log files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI randomly started up my laptop one day and the mouse and keyboard stopped responding once GDM's login screen came up. Everything works fine from the console, but even if I run startx from the login shell the mouse and keyboard do not work, even though everything else in GNOME runs perfectly.
I am using an HP dv6426us laptop running Ubuntu 9.04 (i686 architecture with the 2.6.28-15-generic kernel). Below is a copy of my xorg.conf file, just in case there might be something wrong with that. I will try and put more information on, but seeing as I have to use a different computer to post this thread, copying over log files and stuff is difficult for the moment (though I am going to try and copy them over to a flash drive).

Now I'm trying to run Ubuntu again. The problem started when I put Ubuntu to sleep, but instead it turned the screen black and hung without going into sleep (this is common for me). I had to cut its power, but afterwards it wouldn't boot.
I tried booting off old kernel and "recovery" ones, but that gives me an error and loads "ash" shell, which doesn't let me browse any of my files (no /home director to speak of).
I'm really at a loss. Is my only option to delete everything and reinstall? If I back-up my home directory, can I just copy/paste the contents into it once I install a new Ubuntu and have things more or less in working order?
Had 3 partitions on a hard disk. Booted vista & deleted the windows 7 partition & then expanded the vista partition into the windows 7 partition. Vista kept working but when i rebooted grub starts to load & gets an error 17. How do i recover?
Previously grub would come up & give me the choice of ubuntu or vista. If i selected vista i got the choice of vista or windows 7.
When booting from the LiveCd it starts to load but never loads! All it does is flash a _ icon and then becomes black!

I can get to single user mode OK --- keyboard is fine, but something is badly amiss as I can't use the mouse or keyboard when the X-server starts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard was working fine then all of a sudden it started acting up. Now when I boot into linux the keyboard works fine till I start the Xsever. At first I thought that the keyboard stopped working so I restarted it and still had the same problem. I ended up restarting it 8 times then I finally started to hit the keyboard now when I was done hitting it I kinda kept my hand on it and noticed it still types but I have to hold it for a long period of time for it to start typing. I have to hold the button for like 1-2 Sec for it to type one letter. Then I checked the keyboard setting and they were fine.

Then I tried another computer with a normal monitor connection (blue monitor plug). And it got further than the other computer. But then it hung up eventually too. My burn was successful. Is anyone else having problems with Ubuntu 64 bit edition? (installation)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu 11.04, using an nVidia graphics card. I have my TV hooked up to my computer and acting as a second monitor, using the Twinview option with the gpu. My monitor is set as the primary display, with the TV as secondary.
The problem I'm having is that when I turn my computer on, the main display is black, and all the load up information is output to the second display. Then, when I get to the log in screen, it is also on the second display.
When i open my pc and load ubuntu 9.10 a black screen opens and i should write my user and then my password i was doing something in the terminal last time but i don't remember what how can i fix it ? i don't care if i lost data

I tried both the VirtualBox-3.2-3.2.8_64453_openSUSE113-1.x86_64 package from Virtualbox and self-compiled drivers as well as the newest RPM packages from openSuse(backports). I'm trying to run LKL (Linux Keyboard Logger) in a Ubuntu 9.04 VirtualBox VM (VirtualBox 2.2.2 running on a XP host). The package installs fine, but when I try to run it lkl -l -k /usr/share/lkl/keymaps/us_km -o ./kbd.log & it hogs the CPU usage to 50% and never logs a keystroke (in fact the kbd.log file is never created)

I migrated a few VirtualBox vdi's to a new laptop. My Windows XP and 7 virtual hard drives imported nicely when I created and started the guests; however, Fedora bombs as soon as the boot progress bar completes. I get this error message: VirtualBox GUI has stopped working.

Added the Repository and installed it (virtualbox-4.0) and dkms.

virtualbox is still not running. I use experimental branch flash is not working now. flashplugin was installed, I restarted my browsers, not working. I tested it with opera, chromium and iceweasel.
My questions are:
How I ever can go back to stable?
How can I make virtualbox run?
How can I make flash run?
I'm using debian squeeze with gnome 2.30.5. When you need more infos or results of commands I give it to you. 2 days of work and nothing is running.
As of yesterday I have this perculiar problem. When I try to ssh into my account I have on a linux server where I keep some of my files (I'm using Cisco VPN) ssh claims it can't find the address.It's worked fine before, and if I connect using putty in Virtualbox on the same machine it works.The problem applies both to command line ssh and NetBeans (which uses a java client).I've tried setting SSH not to resolve DNS in the config file but it doesn't help.

But when I want to use it on a Linux host directly it always ends in "No response from target". I have tested this on Fedora 12 and the latest Ubuntu.
I thought of firewall settings but iptables -L on Ubuntu returns an empty list even.
