i have MATLAB R2007b installed on my win7 partition and i would like to use MATLAB in LINUX of which i have version 10.04. i have installed WINE but have no clue how to make MATLAB work although i have been told and read that its totally possible. i'm sort of new to LINUX so please be general

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo installing a programm is a problem. I like to install Aqualung. "/.configure" works. But "make" seems to be not installed. "checkinstall" seems to be not installed "sudo apt-get make" does not work. I have no internet connection with linux, because I have no idea how I install the network card. I guess this sudo command use internet? Is there another way to compile that program? (And just by the way, why must this be so difficult?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to fedora and installed wine to see if I could get the sony reader software working (required to access sony bookstore from my sony ereader). Well the program did not work though it did create icons on my desktop. wine kept crashing and I said lets just get rid of it. I uninstalled wine via yum remove and nothing appeared to happen so I did rpm -qa |grep wine and saw lots of stuff. So I simply did yum remove wine* and then a rpm -qa |grep wine was empty. however wine is still under applications on my desktop and still has a category for programs--reader. I should also mention that while wine was installed I attempted to remove the reader via the wine uninstalller but a) wine gave a message of a core crash and b) all the uninstaller did was give me the option to reinstall the reader program. so now when I attempt to open an epub it tries with the sony reader software. I know I can just right click to use another program but for now I want wine gone completely from my pc and the sony program gone.

All my songs have the cover art embedded in the ID3 tags and the .12.6 reads these, but I have .12.5. .7 is actually out now but I have no clue how to upgrade my Rhythmbox. Apt upgrade didn't do anything of course nor doing it through the GUI.

My question is, which files should be "allowed to execute as program" and which shouldn't? When I allow or deny execution, I get different results when I start the game. I realize that if there is a .bin file, flipping any bit, be it the executable one or not, is not a good thing. Also, should dlls be allowed to run?

So, I started the thing from the console to see what the last message is before crashing, but...nothing. It crashes whenever I hover over something that is supposed to give a pop-up (you know, the yellow-ish popup with a help text).
Any clues to what I can do to remedy this? As I noted, there are no return messages, so, that's all I have here...
I have WINE installed and need to mount some disc image files, I posted in general help because this is just relating to the mounting. I have various formats other that .iso, i have .img, .ccd, .bin, etc. How would I would go about doing this? I have something called gmount-iso but it only mounts iso's.

I can't remove through terminal, and I can't remove it manually. I tried just removing everything through winetricks, then removing everything through synaptic, but whenever I install from software center, I'm back to wine 1.3.19.
I attempted to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 under Wine and it failed. Then I read a thread that offered some tweaks. But now when I try to install all that it offers to do is UNinstall. I thought I could UNinstall and then reinstall, but no...It fails to UNinstall too...just as it failed to install. So I'm wondering how to remove this (the command line way) from the system. I tried "yum remove wine" and when I put wine back, like a phantom, the same problem was there. I tried removing the entire .wine directory in my home folder...same problem.

The installation seemed to go well, including the directx part, but when I want to run the game, I can't find it anywhere. It's not in Applications -> Wine, it's not on Wine's C: drive, and I even tried a search "find / -name shredder", which came up empty. I tried to install it again, but according to the installation program it is already installed! (It asked me if I wanted to modify, repair, etc..).

Note:- able to extract tar.bz2 package as root but not able to extract package as normal user (installed as root but while complile it gives message that run this package as normal user)
but after loggin as normal user not able to use following command
#tar -jxvf wine-1.2.tar.bz2
it shows following error:
tar: wine-1.2/tools/wrc/writeres.c: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
The question I have is, can iTunes ever work in Linux? I've tried installing it using WINE but to no avail. Is there a way to make WINE shut up with the errors and let it install? I've tried using the terminal.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running WoW in Ubuntu 9.10 with wine. My screen's native resolution is 1920x1200. When I play WoW in Windows I set it to 1920x1080 in fullscreen because that aspect ratio allows me to see more of the playing field. In windows it doesn't stretch the screen so I have a black bar at the top and bottom of my screen.
When I set it to 1920x1080 under wine, it stretches my screen. Is there any way I can make it not stretch?
I tried searching forums/google but I couldn't find anything related to my question.
I've got wine installed and I've been using it for a while, but I just installed adobe flash but it doesn't show up in my wine menu. I know where I can find it in My Programs I just don't know where that is. Where is the virtual C: drive in wine located?
