I recently installed an image editor that I am fond of via Wine. It works fine but now I want to make it the default program when I open an image. I know for most programs how to change this but when I installed this via Wine it is not listed as one of my options for other programs to open that type of file. How do I change the default program to open a file when it's not listed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using linux for a few months now and I love Ubuntu 9.10. I found a link to mspaint.exe and it works fine in wine. It can be found here: [URL]. I downloaded it, and then extracted the file to "/home/christopher/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Paint/". Then in that folder, I right click the file "MSPAINT.exe" and selected "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader" and it opens just fine and works perfectly.
I want to put it in the menu panel under "Applications-Wine-Programs-Accessories". I tried doing it by right clicking the menu panel and editing menus, but I dont know how to make the file "MSPAINT.exe" automatically open with Wine. For some reason, when I got Project64 and a few other apps I didn't run into this problem because they were automatically put into the menu and opened with Wine by default.
Something seems to be replacing some portions of the default gui appearance in gnome with the old win98 look... Wine maybe? I have wine installed and I use it for a few of my pld windows programs, but all the programs in the screenshot are native linux programs...

My question is, which files should be "allowed to execute as program" and which shouldn't? When I allow or deny execution, I get different results when I start the game. I realize that if there is a .bin file, flipping any bit, be it the executable one or not, is not a good thing. Also, should dlls be allowed to run?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't have wine installed. But I use teamviewer [URL] to remote support my friends. Teamviewer provide an "linux version" using wine wrapper. Every time I run it, some mime types such as .jpg, .wmv, .txt, .ini, v.v... was set to be handle by a "A Wine application". So, nothing happen when I open those file, I have to reset their handler to proper linux application.
1. How can I completely remove those "A wine application" handler? Is there a tool, or a settings applet in gnome that allow me to do that. Currently, I have to find those files in nautilus, right click and change the open with settings, that's frustrated.
2. Can I lock mime type handling settings from being changed by some application? Or even lock it from any changed at all? I don't mind remove the write permission from some settings file, I won't likely to change my current mime type handling settings in near future.

I can't remove through terminal, and I can't remove it manually. I tried just removing everything through winetricks, then removing everything through synaptic, but whenever I install from software center, I'm back to wine 1.3.19.
The question I have is, can iTunes ever work in Linux? I've tried installing it using WINE but to no avail. Is there a way to make WINE shut up with the errors and let it install? I've tried using the terminal.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running WoW in Ubuntu 9.10 with wine. My screen's native resolution is 1920x1200. When I play WoW in Windows I set it to 1920x1080 in fullscreen because that aspect ratio allows me to see more of the playing field. In windows it doesn't stretch the screen so I have a black bar at the top and bottom of my screen.
When I set it to 1920x1080 under wine, it stretches my screen. Is there any way I can make it not stretch?
I tried searching forums/google but I couldn't find anything related to my question.
Well, I've been trying to get a program called SRS Audio Sandbox to work under Wine, but since it works with the audio output, it requires an audio driver and looks for the Windows one instead of the Linux one. Any way to emulateimitate that driver so it'll work?

I'm running Gnome 2 on Ubuntu 11.04 (I removed Unity completely). But when I login to the system it is using the Metacity windows environment. I can get compiz working by running 'compiz --replace'. I just added that command to the 'Startup Applications' but that way seems like a cheesy workaround. Is there a way to make compiz the *ACTUAL* default window manager without using the 'Startup Applications' route?
