Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning 10.10. After installing Screenlets from the software center, I opened the screenlets manager to start the GCal widget that I wanted to run. However, when I click start/stop nothing happened. I was hoping that it was something simple so I moved my dock around to see if the widget was starting behind the taskbar or dock, but no such luck. I have the widget layer enabled in compiz, but the screenlet is not showing up there either.. Just a blank screen when I hit F9.
I've installed compiz, conky, compiz-fusion, compiz-plugins-extra and I can see all the options that seem to be necessary for the screenlets to function. I just don't see anything for any of the screenlets when I try to enable them via start/stop....
could someone please suggest me some nice sidebar thing...Please don't suggest Screenlets or Desklets.

I was playing around with Screenlets and would like to use the radio. I can't seem to get it to play any of the default radio stations, also when I add a custom web site I get nothing. The web site I added plays fine with Mplayer, but does not work with the Screenlets radio. I have also edited the Menu.xml for screenlets radio and added the web site I would like to listen to, but nothing. I have also downloaded he restricted extras

I have checked to make sure python-rsvg is installed. Upon looking for a solution, I read somewhere that it might have something to do with Compiz. I had screenlets working Just Fine on F 10, but it hit EOL so I used preupgrade to move to F 11. Now, I can't get them working no matter what I do. If I try to run screenlets-manager from a terminal I get this message:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/screenlets-manager/screenlets-manager.py", line 28, in <module>
import screenlets
ImportError: No module named screenlets
And, I can't reinstall them because they require python-dateutil which doesn't seem to have a version for F 11. I even tried downloading the tarball and running setup.py, but it crashed because it tries to import a module that doesn't exist.
Where can I get the rpm's for fedora 13 of screenlets and simple ccsm? Or can I use the fedora 12 ones?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed F14 on my netbook. All went well. I've installed Screenlets, and they run well. Unfortunately I have to reload all the widgets I have running on startup to make them show.
I believe the problem is the order the Screenlets are loading. Is there a way for me to restrain the Screenlets from loading until Compiz has been loaded? I've added the widgets I want to load to the gnome session startup script using gnome-session-properties, but no luck in ordering the timing they load. I seem to remember in older Fedora releases you could change the load order. Anyway no luck there.
Next I created a bash script with a sleep delay to load the widgets. I added the script to gnome-session-properties, still no luck. The only way I can get the widgets to show is to manually reload them once the desktop/Compiz has loaded.
On SuSE 11.3 x 64 when I log into KDE4 the screenlets appear and work normally. If I log into Gnome or lxde the screenlet manager appear but screenlets themselves don't.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is an easy solve, I think. (I'm not having much luck with OpenSuse's one click install.) I installed screenlets using one click but can only start it via the command line. It never showed up in my Gnome menu system.
As an aside, I reverted to the old style gnome menu. I tried OpenSuse's updated Gnome menu but it seemed awkward. Is it just me?
Just noticed I misspelled manager. Is there a way to change the message header?
Each time I pass with a cursor over a widget on the desktop its side bar appears, of course it should because of resizing and moving or do some setting, but that is very boring if I do not intend to use that bar. Screenlets behave better, the setting menu appear only with proper clicking. Is there a way to manage jumping widget menu bar not to appear on every cursor passing ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am installing Ubuntu Server 10.10 on and old Dell Laptop. The network connection is an Xircom PCMCIA card.During install, the computer sees and interacts via the network just fine. For example, I can ping the gateway. Also, the command "lspcmcia" works and show the Xircom card. When I reboot, however, there is no network access, and the "lspcmcia" command is not there. When I try "lspcmcia" the OS helpfully tells me that I can "apt-get" pcmciautils, but, without network access, that fails.I tried adding the install cdrom to apt using "apt-cdrom" and then tried to "apt-get" pcmciautils and it got further, installing some dependencies, but acted like it still was unable to locate the pcmciautils package.

This is a known issue :

but the solutions don't seem to work anymore.
I am using an HCL k38 pdc laptop and I am unable to boot KDE live cd of opensuse 11.4. The system boots to a graphical screen where a progress bar is shown. the progress bar proceeds to about 90% and then my system hangs. ALl I can see on my screen is that graphical image with suse logo and progress bar. Though my mouse works and I can move it all around the desktop but if I try pressing any key (CAPS/NUM LOCK/SCROLL LOCK) i dont see any LED notification for that. this concludes that the system is hanged.
Key board has no issue as I can use it in Windows.
I tried to boot the lice cd in text mode and it worked very fine from there I installed the system on to my HDD in dual boot mode with windows XP. But after installation when I boot opensuse from HDD it stucks at the same position.
I think this issue is with Nvidea graphics card as when the system boots I see an error message that says that the RAM has an address conflict with VGA ROM.
How can I use opensuse. I have even tried ubuntu 10.10 but it also hangs while booting or after booting. So far I have been able to manage only Sabayon Linux working on this machine however the ubuntu 9.10 was working on this system and it also started behaving similarly after I upgraded it to ubuntu 10.04.
I downloaded the 6.06 version of xubuntu because i have a laptop that doesnt support high graphics mode, and i wasnt able to figure out how to get it to run in low graphics mode. i figured that i would get a version from a while back, and then update it up to the current version. now, to the problem. I was able to upgrade 6.10, but now it says Ubuntu version 8.04 available, so i tried to update it. it gets most of the way through the part where it says calculating or something like that, and then it says: "Can't install 'xubuntu-desktop' It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as a bug." with an option that says close at the bottom. when i click close another window pops up that says: Could not calculate the upgrade A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport. Then the window just closes... anything that i could do to get rid of this problem? EDIT: Is there any way to update directly from an .iso file on the desktop?
how to install ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop but im a little caught up between using the wubi or full install heres my dilemma.I like the wubi but it doesn't support hibernation and from doing some reading it is not as stable and has some loss in performance.
The main issue I have with doing the full install is I'm a little concerned that making new partitions may screw up the recovery partition which I find really useful which lets me easily reformat my laptop without having to deal with all the drivers. So my real question here is twofold. Is there a way to still hibernate in wubi? And is the full install that much more stable and faster?Second should the recovery partition be ok if i later decide to start fresh again in the future?
For the last several years, I've been using several little python programs called Screenlets. They worked fine under Gnome, and when I migrated to XFCE, the only difficulty was that they didn't properly autostartI had to open the screenlet manager and re-launch them. This evening, I made a change to my XFCE configuration by editing a config file then logging out and back in. This was the first time I'd done that since my last reboot, 12 days ago, for a kernel update. Now, they don't start at all and running the manager from a terminal doesn't(At least, it doesn't tell me anything that I find helpful, but somebody who's familiar with python might find something useful there.) There doesn't seem to be any easy way to contact the devs at this point, so I came here to ask if anybody else has seen this or knows what's going on
