View 1 RepliesCompiz installed from Index of /repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_11.3 for opensuse 11.3 - kde - 64 bit
When I start compiz via simple ccsm nothing happens. When I start fusion-icon from console I get following output:
Code:
a) what does the green check mark do in simple-ccsm? It seems to undo all the settings changes I have made. And what is the "Advanced" Profile?
b) say i want to tweak something that simple-ccsm can't do. Slow down the animations so I can actually see them, enable or change edge snapping , et cetera. Does changing settings in this one disable my profile in simple? I seem to wreck everything whenever i try to work with ccsm but simple is just too simple--I'm not even looking for eye candy so much as functionality. b.0.1: can i do half screen snapping on the side like vista does?
i can't seem to find the window picker options in the CCSM...
...i'd really like to disable the 'Show Desktop' function because it burries gdesklets...and i always have to restart them.
Can you get Screenlets for Fedora 13? Google Gadgets is good, but when I used Ubuntu 10.04 on Screenlets looked much better. As much as I prefer Fedora, there doesn't seem to much of these Desktop effects about.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had screenlets working Just Fine on F 10, but it hit EOL so I used preupgrade to move to F 11. Now, I can't get them working no matter what I do. If I try to run screenlets-manager from a terminal I get this message:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/screenlets-manager/screenlets-manager.py", line 28, in <module>
import screenlets
ImportError: No module named screenlets
And, I can't reinstall them because they require python-dateutil which doesn't seem to have a version for F 11. I even tried downloading the tarball and running setup.py, but it crashed because it tries to import a module that doesn't exist.
I've recently installed F14 on my netbook. All went well. I've installed Screenlets, and they run well. Unfortunately I have to reload all the widgets I have running on startup to make them show.
I believe the problem is the order the Screenlets are loading. Is there a way for me to restrain the Screenlets from loading until Compiz has been loaded? I've added the widgets I want to load to the gnome session startup script using gnome-session-properties, but no luck in ordering the timing they load. I seem to remember in older Fedora releases you could change the load order. Anyway no luck there.
Next I created a bash script with a sleep delay to load the widgets. I added the script to gnome-session-properties, still no luck. The only way I can get the widgets to show is to manually reload them once the desktop/Compiz has loaded.
i wanted to install screenlets under fedora 11 but python wont let me, is there a way to do it i keep getting the Python(abi) dependency missing message I've tryed both 32 and the 64 bits version, even the noarch i found here with no results at all

View 3 Replies View Relatedin CCSM i don't have the burn effect, i have animations checked marked, i was reading somewhere where i had to enable or check mark extra plugins i cant see that anywhere?
Did they do away with that effect/plugin? i'm using Ubuntu 10.04 is that makes a difference?
So I can't seem to get my launcher to work right after a fresh install of ubuntu 11.04. No matter what I do, I can't get my launcher to hide. I went into ccsm, and under ubuntu unity plugin I tried all four options under the hide launcher menu (never, autohide, dodge windows, dodge active windows) - nothing gets it to hide! The launcher covers up a good chunk of whatever window is open (i.e. a website, or more importantly, the back and forward buttons in chrome). In unity 2D, I don't have this problem. I also saw that when I enabled and disabled the unity plugin, I got this error when I re-enabled.I tried resolving the conflicts favoring the unity plugin, and when that didn't work, the desktop wall.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought a new computer and installed Lucid 64 bit. On my old PC, I had Lucid 32 bit. There I installed Grid using the instructions on this page: [URL]... But now, on the new computer, i cannot do it. I get the error:
Code:
rumtscho@bradbury:~/tmp/grid$ git-checkout 1281082ba678033e515a19419ca8ffe8641d744b.git-checkout: command not found. I did install everything mentioned in the instruction, including git-core. The git-clone row worked without errors. So why cannot I finish the installation?
I don't care if I get Grid from the git repository or from some other source (I don't understand why it is missing from ccsm in the first place, it got installed automatically under 9.10),
I tried using ccsm to get the cube desktop working on ubuntu 10.04. After reading through many of the forums here on how to get the cube working I still could not find an answer for 10.04. Changed my settings with gconf-editor to disable Nautilus show desktop and a few other recommended setting and nothing worked. Also, for some reason, ccsm did not have the Wallpaper option (its supposed to be under utility), and I think it was necessary for the cube in some way.

View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I installed a new theme for my laptop (Ubuntu 11.04(32-bit)) and soon after, I noticed that the animations I set up were not showing up anymore. Before the installation, everything worked fine. The theme is called MacBuntu 11.04. (Not the original one)
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor the last several years, I've been using several little python programs called Screenlets. They worked fine under Gnome, and when I migrated to XFCE, the only difficulty was that they didn't properly autostartI had to open the screenlet manager and re-launch them. This evening, I made a change to my XFCE configuration by editing a config file then logging out and back in. This was the first time I'd done that since my last reboot, 12 days ago, for a kernel update. Now, they don't start at all and running the manager from a terminal doesn't(At least, it doesn't tell me anything that I find helpful, but somebody who's familiar with python might find something useful there.) There doesn't seem to be any easy way to contact the devs at this point, so I came here to ask if anybody else has seen this or knows what's going on

And then the Unity dockbar and top Panel disappeared and i am not getting any menu or options. Alt + F2 isn't working so i can't run CCSM to enable Unity again. However i am able to log in as Ubuntu Classic with old menus and functions. how to bring Run command? so that i can run CCSM and bring back my Unity dockbar and top Panel?
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust got my 11.04 and tried to use some settings in Compiz. I`ve made these steps: Install the CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm) application from the Software Center. If you need assistance with installing the application, consult the software installation help, or review the Ubuntu Software Center Manual.
After you have installed the program, click the power icon at the very right of the panel and select System Settings. In the Personal section, click CompizConfig Settings Manager. In the Desktop section of the CompizConfig Settings Manager, click Ubuntu Unity Plugin, and select the Experimental tab.
I`ve clicked on the left side there was something like "enable plugin" or sort of. And my launcher, and the pane on the top dissapeared! I got nothing. Just the screen. Nothing is workin. What the f>..?
There's a screenlet I want to put on one of my panels.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning 10.10. After installing Screenlets from the software center, I opened the screenlets manager to start the GCal widget that I wanted to run. However, when I click start/stop nothing happened. I was hoping that it was something simple so I moved my dock around to see if the widget was starting behind the taskbar or dock, but no such luck. I have the widget layer enabled in compiz, but the screenlet is not showing up there either.. Just a blank screen when I hit F9.
I've installed compiz, conky, compiz-fusion, compiz-plugins-extra and I can see all the options that seem to be necessary for the screenlets to function. I just don't see anything for any of the screenlets when I try to enable them via start/stop....
could someone please suggest me some nice sidebar thing...Please don't suggest Screenlets or Desklets.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is an easy solve, I think. (I'm not having much luck with OpenSuse's one click install.) I installed screenlets using one click but can only start it via the command line. It never showed up in my Gnome menu system.
As an aside, I reverted to the old style gnome menu. I tried OpenSuse's updated Gnome menu but it seemed awkward. Is it just me?
Just noticed I misspelled manager. Is there a way to change the message header?
