Ubuntu :: How Do I Get LEDs On Adapter Working

Apr 18, 2010

have no way of knowing if I am connected to my wireless network. The straw that broke the Camel's back was last night when for one reason or another, the connection was dropped, and I had no way of knowing it. I messed around for 3 1/2 hours changing software settings, and running in circles. I finally decided to just reboot the system, and the connection came back.I still had no way of knowing that.

Had the LEDs on my notebook adapter been working, I could have saved myself hours of frustration and aggravation.I am still so ticked off over that, I'm to the point that if this can not be corrected, this may very well be the end of my using Linux.I assume this problem will arise from the adapter card. I took screen shots of everything.Note all of the blank spaces that when clicked on, display LEDs, and nothing more, (led1.jpg)I have taken a screen shot of the properties of each of those entries, (led_properties.jpg).how do I get the LEDs on my adapter working so I know when there is a connection, and when data is being transmitted and received?

Ubuntu :: Rhythmbox Makes Peripheral Device LEDs Blink

Oct 29, 2010

I've encountered a very strange bug in Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on my Ubuntu 10.04 install. For some reason, anytime I have Rhythmbox running, all 3 LEDs on my Nostromo n52 gaming device blink, slightly faster than 1 blink per second (or a little over 60 Hz).The blinking does interfere with use of the n52. While the blinking occurs, only about half of my n52 keypresses get through.I guess Rhythmbox is sending signals via USB somehow. Anyone else noticed this bug?

Debian Hardware :: Keyboard Status LEDs Non-functioning In X

Aug 8, 2014

My keyboard status lights (Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock) are non-functioning when in an X environment. The lights turn on and off as would be expected at the terminal.

xset can turn on the scroll lock, but but not the Caps or Num Lock.
numlockx can toggle the Num Lock light.

The functions of the keys on the keyboards works normally, it's just the lights don't update accordingly.

I have already run dpkg -reconfigure keyboard-configuration to no avail. and this is the information that /etc/default/keyboard has about my keyboard

Code: Select all$ grep -vE "^#|^$" /etc/default/keyboard
XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="us"
XKBVARIANT=""
XKBOPTIONS=""
BACKSPACE="guess"

The keyboard itself is a Corsair K70, if that matters.

Ubuntu :: Wireless-G USB Adapter Not Working (sortof)?

Aug 7, 2010

So I bought a linksys wireless-g usb adapter for my desktop because I don't want an ethernet cable running halfway around my house to the router (the router can't move from that location).

it comes with a windows setup disc which i obviously can't use in linux so i just plugged it in and hoped for the best. It seems to turn on, the little light flashes, and I tried connecting to my wireless network in the network manager (using 10.04, gnome), but it just seems to be retrying to connect and every 5 minutes it asks me for the password which I've given it already.

Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless Adapter Not Working / Fix It?

Aug 26, 2010

As the title reads. My wireless adapter does not work when I boot from the Ubuntu 10.04 LiveCD. The adapter in question... tricky. It's this one: [URL]...- however, aside from a mention in one of the comments to a "Ralink RT2780", I don't see any reference to a make/model.

The software that ships with this product is indeed Ralink-branded, but again there's no mention of a specific make/model. So I assume it's just a driver issue, however I've no idea where to begin in my search for one as I can't identify its model number.

Ubuntu Networking - Basic USB Adapter Not Working In 10.04

Jan 18, 2011

I've been reading some of the previous threads but still have not been able to make the adapter work. Here's where I got stuck. I was able to install ndsiwrapper and the GUI. I found the driver (net8192su.inf) on the disk which came with the adopter and installed the driver using the GUI for ndsiwrapper. Unfortunately I get a message "invalid driver" after I installed it?

I have restarted several times. ifconfig does not show the wireless adapter. iwconfig says its not active. i turned on txpower using iwconfig but still nothing.

Red Hat :: Bluetooth Adapter Not Working

Apr 19, 2011

I am trying to get my bluetooth adapter to work in RHEL. The adapter is a Kensington Micro (K33902US). The system detects the device, but it fails to find any networks when I do a scan using hcitool. Also, I wrote a small C program to do the same, with the same results (no network found). The bluetooth manager appears in the panel, but when I right-click, the only option I have is to check/uncheck "Discoverable". I have tried restarting bluetooth using "service bluetooth restart" to no avail.I tried borrowing an adapter from a friend (some DLINK) that seemed to work fine for both hcitool and my program. The problem just seems to be in Red Hat's ability to use this particular device.

Ubuntu Networking :: WG111T Wireless Adapter Not Working?

Feb 28, 2010

I have been searching for days on end trying to get my machine to detect my Netgear WG111T wireless adapter...and I've gotten absolutely nowhere at all.Most tutorials suggest I use ndigstk(sp?), which allows me to use Windows drivers for my adapter. I've been told many times to use the wg111t.inf file, but all I've been able to come up with is the w11t.inf file. Whenever I start up the Windows Wireless Drivers application, I usually get a popup which tells me "Unable to see if Hardware is detected"--yet when I hit the OK prompt, next to the w11t.inf file, it says "Hardware detected --Yes", yet I still have gotten nowhere. I grasp some basics of Linux, but overall I'm still pretty new to it--and I have a big headache from the whole thing.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, my install is 9.04, so if 9.10 resolves this, how would I go about upgrading without downloading an ENTIRELY new disc (I have a horrid internet connection, it'd take HOURS to download the 699MB ISO, so perhaps make that a last resort)

Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless Adapter Not Working After 10.4 Upgrade?

Aug 7, 2010

I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.4 on my Dell Inspiron 6400 yesterday (32-bit). Everything was running great, but when I turned it on today my wireless adapter is no longer working and the hardware switch doesn't do anything. It's working in Windows fine so it can't be the hardware.Here is some information:

Adapater name: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)

Code:
iwconfig:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:off/any[code]....

Restarting the network with 'sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart' didn't work.I've tried Ubuntu several times before but usually there is one small issue which makes me go back to Windows. I love 10.4 so I hope I can get this working so I can stay on Ubuntu!
