Ubuntu Networking :: Netgear WNA 1100 USB WiFi Adapter Not Working

Jul 9, 2010

Okay I've got a Netgear N-150 WNA 1100 USB WiFi adapter, it doesn't work in Ubuntu it's not supported. There should be a way to make it work with ndiswrapper. I tried and failed before and due to other non related circumstances I had to reinstall Ubuntu. What are the steps to install ndiswrapper and it's dependency's on a fresh Ubuntu installation that cannot connect to the internet.

Hardware :: Netgear WG511v2 Wireless Adapter - Almost Working

Dec 17, 2008

Running HH on a little Toshiba Satellite something-or-other laptop (I want to say A25, but who knows), Verizon FIOS router (wired and wireless).

NetGear WG511v2 adapter is so close to working...

Didn't seem to want to work with ndisgtk, so I ran ndiswrapper from terminal, using driver folder I copied from my Win2K partition.

(Had to do a cp WG511v2.sys WG511v2XP.sys, as the .inf file referred to the latter, but such did not exist; cp seemed to do the trick.) And now, survey says:

Code:

Code:

Code:

In "Network Settings", the card detects a few wireless networks (including my own in-home router). Status LED flashes constantly (which I interpret to be hunting), and every several seconds, it goes solid while activity LED flashes a few times (which I interpret to be finding a network, attempting communication), then activity LED ceases to flash and status LED goes back to flashing (which I interpret to be failing and going around again). Using DHCP, just like the other computers that connect without incident.

I have entered my WEP every way I can think of. The dialog lets me choose WEP ASCII or WEP hexadecimal; I have entered the key in all caps and in lowercase, as ASCII and as hex, have entered 0's and O's where applicable. No combination seems to allow it to actually communicate with my router beyond getting rejected. My other laptop and PC (and this laptop, when running Win2K) all connect just fine; none of them use WPA-type passphrases, so I assume that's unnecessary from Ubuntu. Roaming mode gives the same results as described above.

Networking :: NetGear - WN111 V2 Usb Wireless Adapter ?

May 16, 2010

I'm running Slakware 13 (kernel 2.6.29.6) on a inspiron 1525. I use ndiswarper to use the BCM4312 wireless device without any problem but the fact that the driver does not support the Monitor mode. I therefore bought a NetGear WN111 v2 usb stick but I can't get the linux driver.

Even ndiswarper does not work but it's may be because I don't have the right .sys .ins files. (just to try)

So, I wonder if someone has already successfully manged this device working on Slackware 13?

Actually, I don't know if we can make lets say wlan0 and wlan1 working at the same time. I've try many drivers mentioned on Ubuntu forums but none of theme work with me.

Many people talk about wpa_supplicant but I don't know if I really need it to make my wn111v2 working. And what is a firmware?

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Get Wg111t Netgear Wireless Adapter To Work

Mar 5, 2010

i can't get my wg111t netgear wireless adapter to work. I followed the help thing by installing ndisgtk, which installed successfully. I was able to load up the file on the cd that also the help page said. The problem is that the computer won't load up the adapter as it would load up my cd's and flash drive. Here's how i installed ndisgtk. I installed the files ndiswrapper_common, ndiswrapper_1.9, and then the ndisgtk_0.8.5.All of these were for i386.

Fedora Networking :: Netgear WG111v2 Wireless Adapter Won't Stay Online

Jan 28, 2010

I just installed Fedora 12 on my HP a430n PC.I used to run Fedora 10, then moved to Linux Mint 7, then to Ubuntu 9.10 and now I am back to Fedora because I want to become more adept with manual package installation and adding repos. When I ran Fedora 12 immediately after then install, before running yum update PackageKit or the software update, it would use my wireless adapter (Netgear WG111v2) and connect to and stay connected to a network just fine. No hiccups. After running the updates and restarting the computer, the wlan won't stay connected for longer than 20 seconds, which is frustrating when trying to install mp3 codecs.

This seems to be a bug in the latest driver update for the WG111v2, but I might be wrong. Anyone have a fix or a way to revert back to the initial driver (I don't know what the original wireless driver was called).

Ubuntu Networking :: Compatibility Of Wifi Card- The Netgear Wg311v3?

May 18, 2011

I already have a wifi card- the netgear wg311v3. that had almost NO linux compatibility, so I won't make the mistake of buying any old wifi card again. What I want to know is, what's a good wifi card for Linux. Here are some requirements I have for it:

Preferably 802.11n support, but I could settle for "G" Out of the box support. As in, I don't have to use Ndiswrapper. Just pop it in, and let ubuntu do the rest I would prefer a USB based dongle, but PCI would be good too. I don't have any brand preferece.

Ubuntu Networking :: Wifi Connection - Netgear WNDR3700 - Couldn't Connect On Any 2.4 Ghz No Enc

Jun 7, 2010

Lucid i386 Dell inspiron 1525 with 4695agn, iwlagn driver Just installed a new router, Netgear WNDR3700 Old inspiron laptop with Hardy installed connects fine to G wireless An Acer with Vista connects fine to G wireless My Inspiron with Lucid connected fine until I enabled WPA on the routers 5Ghz band. At that point I couldn't connect on any, 2.4 Ghz no enc, or the wired connection. The Windoze pc was connecting fine. Fired up the old Hardy laptop and it connected fine.

Now here's the weirdness!! As long as I had the Hardy laptop connected either wired or wireless, I could connect to the router with the Lucid laptop to unsecured wireless or wired. Soon as I turned off the old Hardy laptop, my Lucid machine could not connect? WTF? I then disabled security on the router and I could connect with my Lucid machine?

Debian Hardware :: Ralink USB WiFi Adapter Not Working After System Reinstall

Jul 12, 2014

I just did a Wheezy reinstall (I just started using LVM on LUKS), but my Ralink RT5370 usb wireless adapter wouldn't work, even though I have firmware-ralink installed. When I click on the Network Manager icon, it lists my home network (WPA2 passphrase) as available, but clicking on it yields no result.

Before the system reinstall, I've been using the adapter with firmware-ralink without problems. As far as "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" goes, my system is up-to-date.

I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling firmware-ralink (rebooted too), but to no avail. The adapter seems to be undamaged.

Here are a few pieces of info that might be useful:

Ubuntu Networking :: Install Usb Wifi Adapter

May 28, 2010

I started yesterday off wanting to install this USB wifi adapter on my PC (which is mini-itx so has additional pci slots) [URL] it has the Ralink 3070 chipset. I tried everything I found when googling, nothing came close to working, this was in Fedora12. So I gave up and installed Ununtu 10.04, hoping for better luck there. Ubuntu will recognise the presence of a wifi adapter, here's the output from iwconfig

[Code]....

But it sees no wifi networks and generally won't do anything; I don't think it has the right driver. Rosewill does list a (linux) driver and so does Ralink, but again, neither of these come close to working. has anyone gotten this adapter or chipset to work in ubuntu?

Networking :: Get Netgear WG111v2 Working Stable At 30 DBm

Jan 31, 2010

Get a Realtek rtl8187l based usb-adapter (such as netgear wg111v2) work in linux is not tricky, but how to get high tx power and driver stability?

You could have tried ndiwrapper, as i did, and got stuck with a kernel module pretty buggy and crashy, or could have just used the common native driver, without hi-power feature.

To achieve my zen state, i had to work around with a base native driver, a feature-filling patch to apply to it, and the only working kernel supposed to work with, 2.6.27.

That's a brief step by step path:

get the base driver (rtl8187 in our case) and decompress: [URL]

get the featuring patch "rtl8187_2.6.27.patch" from: [URL] and extract it in the base driver directory

then apply it with: ~$ patch -Np1 -i rtl8187_2.6.27.patch

remove old modules, compile and install new one (as root)

~# rmmod r8187 rtl8187
~$ make
~# make install

Now you should have a new net device (wlan#) under iwconfig you can use as usual.

To turn on the hi-power capability: ~# iwpriv wlan0 highpower 1

and set the transmission power value (may be dangerous, see below): ~# iwconfig wlan0 txpower <value of 0 to 35> # i use 30, should be around one watt

and wuel you're done you have your pen running strong and stable on the 2.6.27 kernel.

For a detailed reference and clarification about txpower sets, see the aircrack page: [URL]

Ubuntu Networking :: USB Wifi Adapter Works But No Browsing?

Dec 19, 2010

HPG62-144DX notebook, Windows 7 and considering Ubuntu. I installed 10.10 and tried to get my wifi running but that wouldn't work. I had a connection only sometimes and it broke up after 5 minutes. Once I got a webpage but annoyingly slooow. Got the advice to update drivers and stuff. But the wifi connection is the only one I have...

Went back to 10.4 32-bit. Booted from CD and will keep it that way until this is sorted out. Now I see my wifi hotspots directly and I have no problem to establish a connection. The icon shows 3 bars quality. Network Tools says: Wlan1 = Realtek, Transmitted bytes xxx Received bytes yyy, no errors, link speed = 1Mbps, State = active. Looks good!

The only minor thing here is that enabling/disabling my internal Atheros antanna also enables/disables my Alfa USB Wifi adapter (based on Realtek 8187) but who cares. A bigger problem is: when I start Firefox it doesn't come up with a webpage. It just keeps on saying: "loading". At the bottom of the screen it keeps saying "Looking up" for ages. Nothing further.
