It worked with 10.10, but in 11.04 only partially. It would show up in Bluetooth Manager, and I was able to pair with my phone. But after that it always failed to connect. Tried lots of things before I spent $10 on another nameless Chinese one and that worked fine immediately.

I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on an Acer TravelMate 290E. I've got internet connection through the Ehternet Cable, but when I plug in the D-Link WLAN USB device, although the system recognises it, it is disconnected. How can I connect the WLAN USB device adn get it to work?

I am trying to get my bluetooth adapter to work in RHEL. The adapter is a Kensington Micro (K33902US). The system detects the device, but it fails to find any networks when I do a scan using hcitool. Also, I wrote a small C program to do the same, with the same results (no network found). The bluetooth manager appears in the panel, but when I right-click, the only option I have is to check/uncheck "Discoverable". I have tried restarting bluetooth using "service bluetooth restart" to no avail.I tried borrowing an adapter from a friend (some DLINK) that seemed to work fine for both hcitool and my program. The problem just seems to be in Red Hat's ability to use this particular device.

I am using ubuntu 10.10 on a ZOTAC IONITX-A-U Atom N330 1.6GHz Dual-Core Mini ITX Intel Motherboard and since I have upgraded from 10.04 I no longer have blue tooth capabilities. I have a logitech mx 5500 wireless keyboard and mouse, which uses a bluetooth dongle. This is the strange part as they have both been working until recently.
They both lost their charge and after replacing the batteries in my keyboard it no longer is able to connect. The mouse however works fine, until I dropped it So I bought a microsoft explorer mouse which came with its own bluetooth dongle. Which I plugged in and the mouse works fine.
But when I go to System> Preferences> Bluetooth
I get Bluetooth adapter not present and Your computer does not have any Bluetooth adapters plugged in.
I have spent the last week googling this and can't seem to find any relevant info.
I ran this in terminal code...
Am I wrong in assuming that the logitech and microsoft dongles are being seen?
I have also removed and reinstalled bluetooth and bluetooth manager in the software centre, and the same with synaptic package manager, to no avail.
With both dongles plugged in could this also cause a problem?
Is there another way of starting the bluetooth?
When i connect to my laptop a bluetooth usb stick, the bluetooth could not be turned on.
the bluetooth dameon is on, and when i press the turn on button, nothing happens.

I can use this wireless adapter on my laptop, i can use it on my desktop as well but only when windows is running, im a newbie to fedora, today is my 2nd day and 3rd night, so pretty exited about it. i have installed fedora 13 on a different hard-disk on my desktop. when the computer is booting, there is an orange light on the adapter glowing, it turns off when the computer reaches the fedora loading screen. If i see fedora's Network Configuration window under the hardware's tab i see the "D-Link DWA-125 Wireless 150 USB Adapter" listed along with my lan card. Now if i go towards the clock on the top right to get the wireless connection working, it shows wireless network disconnected. I have tried creating wireless connection manually by inserting the SSID, macadress, BSSID, ,WPA passkey etc, but still doesnt works. when i try connecting using hidden wireless connection, i receive window for inserting keyring password again and again, stating that the login password does not match. but during all this time, i still havent seen the orange light glowing activity on the external usb adapter. If i restart the computer in windows the adapter/wireless connection works. also have checked the Network service, it seems that the service is up and running. i really require some assisstance on this,
i have noticed this, that if i go under network configuration. the first tab over there, inside devices i cant see my D-Link adapter, but if i switch onto the hardware tab it shows my lan card as well as my D-Link adapter. so does it means that the driver is missing? or any service which is disabled, however at this point of time i can get only using wired connection. please assist me. with this issue, im also downloading the 500 complete update as well for fedora, hoping that it may make it work.
I've a damn TP-LINK WG422G UBS Adapter that i love i installed latest compat-wireless driver package and used latest ar9271 firmware after that it was worked properly. There is no problem when surfing the net, the problem is occurring usually download something via torrent sometimes form websites. I'm starting to download and then usb adapter suddenly freeze. If i remove and plug in the usb adapter it is working again.

Have tried methods from every thread I could find for past 10 hrs. Have tried installing rt3070sta etc.Monitored message log; appears that the driver isn't recognized, though the USB port sees that something is plugged in (when I plug in the adapter, and unplug it).All of the threads miss something; I can't get a wireless port listed under ifconfig no matter what I try. Seems that every method leaves out something (I guess because everyone's box is different in some way). Network manager doesn't help much. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having some issues getting connected with a TP-Link TL-Wn727N wireless USB adapter. I have no way to connect hard wired with the computer, but I have another working notebook to possibly download files. However, the second notebook is a Mac, so most of the posts I've found are not filling in all of the answers. Also forgot to note, I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I followed along with this and managed to get the card to find the wireless connection. However, the connection would never connect. After entering the security password the wireless icon would do it's thing and then pop up asking to ok the password again. I double, triple checked the password and it is correct. I found elsewhere that I should probably install wicd. This is where I've run into problems with finding the way to get files that I can download on the Mac and then installed on the Ubuntu computer. I managed to find this forum thread and downloaded this file I transferred the file from the Mac to the Ubuntu with a flash drive and tried to install. First the install said that Network Manager needed to be removed, so I removed it. Next it says "Dependency is not satisfiable: python-urwid." I'm not sure how to go about getting this dependency as it is not showing up in the package manager.

1) it cannot see any networks around
2) i cannot setup it in master mode to use my PC as a router
As far as i can see, the device is recognized and the correct driver (rt73usb) is loaded. I was able to connect to a laptop somehow (the laptop could see other networks and the adapter's PC-to-PC network). I'd like to make it work as a router, i.e. share my internet connection (eth0) via wlan0. Here is what i have:

I've got my D-Link DWL-G120 usb wireless adapter pluged in but it's not "working". In the Hardare section it shows all the information for it but it shows it as a unclassified device. At this point I'm thinking of buying a bridge and just reinstalling the OS (plus I want to get a bigger Hard drive as I've got it on a 7 GB drive right now).

I have been running FC8 on this IBM T23 with a D-Link wireless adapter. Using MadWifi this has worked fine with Network Manager disabled. But now I have nuked that installation and replaced it with FC10. Network Manager is nice, and I would like to use it. And it kind-of works. Network Manager recognizes my router and all my neighbor's routers, but I can't connect.

The problem is, the bluetooth dongle is detected and the icon appears when its plugged in, the mouse is found and says it is pointing in bluetooth manager but it does not move the cursor on the screen. I have tried 2 different dongles and both work correctly and control the mouse on my asus laptop. She is using a toshiba satelite. Both dongles show up in lsusb as hci0. I've tried everything on the forums and everything I could think of but no go. If she doesn't have use of the mouse for farmville I will be in trouble.

Trying to enable bluetooth (internal) on my Acer Aspire One D255. Despite bluetooth issues in general, here is the kicker: Acer decided to combine the fn+F3 key and fn+F2 key into one uber-network key. In windows 7 you hit fn+F3 and you get two options on your screen: enable/disable wireless + enable/disable bluetooth. Not so Ubuntu. I hit fn+F3 and it does various things to my wireless or my bluetooth every 3rd or 4th press. Disabling or enabling both... or neither. Very frustrating.
1) How does one remap the fn+F# keys (one for each)
2) Is there any other bluetooth voodoo for the bluetooth on this machine?
