My headphones were working in lucid 10.04 till last update, now its not working?
my application like mocp - terminal based music player works fine with headphones, but vlc is not working? How to get vlc work with headphone??
Also there is no application under sound->applications tab while i play VLC using headphone.

My only problem is that the headphone minijack-out wont work. When I plug in a minijack, the pc-speakers just keeps on rocking.
my sound system seems to work fine but the headphone doesn't work when i plug it in its jack male to laptop's female. Its not a usb system.

The sound is fine on the mac partition but the internal speakers dont work on the Ubuntu side.

I've made the update and everything was working just fine until i discovered that my headphone exit does not produce any sound: When i connect external speakers or headphones the ubuntu keeps playing music on his netbook speakers...How can i solve this problem? View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite L655, workin with Maverick. Sound comes out of my main speakers that are on my laptop, but when I try to plug in my Bose headphones or my Logitech speakers, they don't want to work period. The headphone jack works I know for a fact because it works in Windows.
When I open up Kmix, it doesn't show my headphone port at all, it shows up "RV710/730 Digital Stereo (HDMI)" which is my TV's audio output and then my main laptops "Internal Audio Analog Stereo".
I don't really understand this. I had Ubuntu 10.10 and everything worked. Then my hard drive crashed and I replaced it and reinstalled Ubuntu 10.10. After the re-install, my headphone jack is no longer sensed. It works when I boot the computer with the jack already in, but if I take it out after the boot it doesn't work. Also, Vica-Versa. If I don't have it in, it won't work when I put it in until a reboot.
If I'm playing music through the internal laptop speakers and put the jack in the music will continue playing through the laptop speakers and not transfer.
Sound works thru speakers but when headphone is plugged in, speakers go silent (like they should) but there is no sound in the headphones (headphones work fine on my cell phone)
I added options snd-hda-intel in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file but no luck
I have ubuntu 11.04 dual boot with vista in a gateway laptop. The internal laptop speakers work fine, but anything I plug into the headphone jack does not work (I have headphones and speakers that I use through the headphone jack).
I've tried a ton of things like re-installing pulse, alsa mixer, making sure everything is turned up and NOT muted, and I can't get any sound.

UPDATE-SOLVED: Ok I finally found something that solved my issue. For any future gateway users that may read this -- try this fix here (I'm using an M model, the fix is for a T model, it worked anyway).

I've Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my desktop dual boot with Windows 7. This is my motherboard. My motherboard has 6 slots for sound devices and I use a pair of speakers and my headphones together, so they all take up 3 slots, i.e. 1 for speaker, 1 for headphone output and 1 for headphone's mic. I'm able to listen from my headphone as well as speakers at any given point of time on Windows 7, but recently when I installed Ubuntu, it only gives audio output to my headphones, and not my speakers. How I can receive audio output on the speakers as well as headphones?

since updating my laptop to 10.04, I can't get any sound out of my headphones. If I plug the jack in, the sound from the loudspeakers turns off, but the headphones stay quiet.
I have run alsamixer and in fact the volume for the headphones is stuck to zero, and it's not possible to increase it.

What I find funny, is that amixer reports that I don't have the capability of regulating the headphone volume:

I have also used the AlsaUpgrade script to get the latest version of alsa, but it still doesn't work.
I loaded Ubuntu Remix onto my Eee PC 1015PE. I tried to install Desktop switcher and it messed up. But now I log into it using the Gnome Session which gives me the better desktop.
However.
The sound works fine though my speakers but when I connect headphones.
The sound stops from the speakers but does not work on the headphones.

I have an Asus G60vx notebook and when I updated to 10.10 I lost audio through my headphones. The speakers work fine, just not the headphones. Normally I am able to sole these things on my own through searching forums and what not, but no solutions I have found work for me so far. Things I have tried:
1. Make sure the latest drivers are installed according to the above, then edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add the following line:

Reboot and test. Other models to test are:
thinkpad
ideapad
hp_laptop
dell-vostro
olpc-xo-1_5
2. Checking on the alsamixer thru the terminal. Headphones is green, but there is only the 00 notch, like there is no volume to change.
3. Updating my alsa files via synaptics, my kernel model is 2.6.35-23-generic. There is no alsa drivers for this kernel that I can find yet, however I found this, Ubuntu supplied Linux modules for version 2.6.35 ALSA snapshots. Installed it still doesnt work.

I can get sound through the onboard speakers but when I plug headphones into the jack, the onboard speakers mute (correct behaviour), but no sound comes from the headphones (incorrect behaviour). I've been getting the hang of ubuntu. It's been a good switch from windows 7.
I'm having a bit of an issue which right now is causing me to regret deleting my windows partition. It'd be nice to have my dual boot set up right now.
Ubuntu is not recognizing my headphone output on my laptop.

is there a way to have my volume level change to a specified level when i insert my headphones to avoid having my ears blasted with music because i forget to turn the sound down when shutting off my computer last time? perhaps a alsa patch or a script?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a newbie, running Natty 11.04 on a Toshiba Satellite L645D laptop. If I boot the computer with headphones or an external speaker connection plugged into the headphone jack, I get no output through it. If I plug the headphones in after boot up, audio comes through fine, but there is no "auto-mute" on the internal speakers. If I restart/reboot after having had headphones plugged in, even if they are unplugged during the reboot, I again get no output through the headphone jack.
I have to actually shut the computer down, then start back up in order to regain the headphone audio.I've looked through previous threads discussing similar issues and tried updating, checking the ALSA settings (and I, like seemingly many other users, have no option to control headphone sensitivity, or whatever it was called). I don't have a lot of time to mess around trying to fix this, so I'm kind of wondering if I can just download another version in which this is not an issue? Maybe the stable release?
