When I open my ''computer'' i keep on getting a ''block from Software Manager - Available Software updates - Vodafone''. remove it so that I dont get that message again.
View 2 RepliesI'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but...well, I just installed Fedora after using Ubuntu for a while, and everything has been going good, except for installing upgrades. When I open the Update Manager, it says there is 399 updates. When I click install, after about ten seconds this pops up:Code:An internal system error has occuredA problem we were not expected has occured. Please report this bug in your distribution bugtracker wth the error description.

I have a k3806-z vodafone mobile broadband modem, on ubuntu 10.04. I have added the mobile broadband connection with the network manager wizard. But network manager does not list my connection. I installed usb-modeswitch and usb-modeswitch-data. Still nothing. The disc utility tells me it recognises the modem as a cd drive and a storage device. Evidently usb-modeswitch is not working.

Among them, some drivers for HP Printers (I don't know why this cropped up; I don't even use printers on my laptop), and gcj updates (I use gcc/g++ but not gcj). I unchecked them the first time I saw them on my UM list. However, for every subsequent batch of new updates, UM retains these updates and I need to uncheck them every time. How can I remove them totally from my UM list?

Sometimes, power point presentations will crash the program and then I can't open any open office programs without rebooting the computer. I closed all Internet related apps and the connection persisted. After a reboot it did not reconnect (yet).The IP address appears to belong to esomniture.com - some sort of web analytics company. How do I prevent my computer from connecting to these rascals. I have found a lot of documentation regarding stopping inbound connections to services on my computer but not the other way. I have various filtering addons installed in Firefox however, this connection seems to be at a lower level as no program is specified as being responsible for the connection.
I have configured a squid proxy; it's running, but there was a problem: it does not provide service to client side.
The error was: "could not connect to session manager" "cannot open the network socket"

But, like pretty much all of those same people, I do have access to local libraries. So, I would like to know the best way to download updates at a library, then come back and install them with ubuntu.The version is 10.04 32-bit, and is 100% stock (just installed from CD), and I want to bring it up-to-date.

Please free at least an additional 495M of disk space on '/'. Empty your trash and remove temporary packages of former installations using 'sudo apt-get clean'." I ran sudo apt-get clean n it did nothing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have no idea what is happening but I started getting a problem after some updates and then I decided to upgrade to 11.04 from 10.10 to see if this fixed the problem, then I just did a clean install last night and I'm still having problems. I'm always asleep when it happen or not around so I'm not sure what is happening right before this screen, but I can say I usually will only have VLC open (at this point I'm sure it stopped playing videos) and maybe Transmission in the background, nothing else. The computer won't respond to the Ctr+Alt+B+PrtScn or to the power button, or to Crt+Alt+F2 or the like, seems completely frozen...

I know you can highlight one and look below at the "Changes" and "Description". But how can you find a real explanation of what the update is? To give one exampe: There's a 5.0MB update called: openoffice.org-writer It appears to be a new version of the Writer program?? or is it just security updates?? Should I install it if I'm happy with the current Writer version? bottom line: where can I get plain talk about what these updates are?

Logging into other user accounts network manager is there and working. How do I fix this? I have not got a clue! I use a usb hawaweii modem, working fine. Just main user account not net work manager. Im running 9.10 and it has not been a problem before.

I recently upgraded to 9.04 and Update Manager stopped working. If I start Update Manager it will check for updates and display them but will not install the updates. I am prompted for a password but the updates are never downloaded and I get no error messages.

I currently have Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04 (The beta) running on my Laptop. I want to know if it's possible to get 11.04 (Full) through the update manager? If so, how? Secondly, if I wanted to just go back to 10.10, could i install it over the current 11.04? I don't want to copy files over or anything like that, just a fresh start.

Installed Macbuntu on my new installation of Ubuntu 10.10. At onset was able to run update Manager with no problem. However after a couple of days and since I did the theme to make my ubuntu look like a Mac...it doesn't want to install any updates it receives. It says another program is running but I'm not running anything other than the Update Manager. Any suggestions as to how to fix this or should I drop the theme and go back to the regular window theme that came with the version of Ubuntu 10.10 I downloaded from the main site.
