General :: Compile And Link A Program To Test Parapin - Undefined Reference

Dec 17, 2010

I'm trying to compile and link a program to test parapin.

Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include "parapin.h"
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{ ...
[Code]....

It looks like the library is found (no error anyway) but the functions in it are not seen. Text at the beginning of libparapin.a includes function names as used in the test program, and parapin.h declares them.

Ubuntu :: Is NTFS A Good File System For A Shared Partition Between WinXP

May 30, 2010

Someone on IRC had mentioned they had a shared partition in NTFS, and that Ubuntu could read from it just fine... I wanted to get a second opinion before I did anything. Right now I have a WinXP partition and an Ubuntu partition, and a large NTFS partition in the middle that I'd like to move my /home to.

Programming :: Link The MySQL Libraries To Some C Code - /home/zgp/gammasqla/list.c:1883: Undefined Reference To `db_do_query'

Sep 6, 2010

I'm trying to link the MySQL libraries to some C code, the LambdaMOO server to be exact. I'm getting the following error:

gcc -g -O -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqld -I/usr/include/mysql ast.o code_gen.o db_lo
ad.o db_flush.o db_objects.o db_properties.o db_verbs.o decompile.o disassemble.
o eval_env.o eval_vm.o exceptions.o execute.o extensions.o functions.o keywords.

[code].....

You can see the link commands I'm using, and the lib and include path are both valid. I tried replacing -lmysqld with -lmysqlclient but this did not help. I'm using Debian and MySQL, libmysqld-dev and libmysqlclient-dev are all installed.

General :: Link Home Directory To Different File-system?

Aug 27, 2009

I'm looking for some advice about how to implement the following functionality in my pet project.

There are two users on my system, user1 and user2. When user1 logs in he can do what he wants etc.. when user2 logs in I want to somehow link the entire file system to another place. In more detail when user2 logs in and does something like ls ~, he should see contents of /home/user1/extra/home/user2/ instead of /home/user2/
and when user2 does ls /usr/bin he should see contents of /home/user1/extra/usr/bin/

Is there a simple way to do this kind of operation. I have looked up the ln command, but I am a little unsure about how to show a completely different file structure to a particular user.

I did play around with ln and found that you can make "soft links" to directories. The problem being how can I link the user2 home directory /home/user2 to something like /home/user1/buffer/home/user2 . can I use something like ln -s /home/user1/buffer/home/user2 /home/user2 .. I guess not. I didn't want to try it as I wasn't sure so as to not hose my system.

After doing some google search it seems a lot people are using a program called "gspca". I downloaded it but I came here to see if someone has a better idea on how to have a web cam working.

Does anyone know of a decent Operating System CLI cross reference website where I can compare diffent CLI commands against others? For example I have a MAC OS 10.6X running Darwin and I needed to know what the equivalent command using CentOS of rusers would be? It would be users running that same command at the MAC cli.

Software :: Good Paint Program On System Other Than Kolourpaint?

Jul 29, 2010

Is there any good paint program on Linux, besides kolourpaint which is KDE and thus brings an awful lot of baggage into non-KDE systems?

(This is mainly with my lubuntu-on-USB in mind. The 300MB for kolourpaint and all its dependencies is not acceptable when there's only 4GB for the whole OS)

I can't stand mtPaint, it behaves very unlike most applications and I'm unable to figure how to do even simple tasks like colour picking or resizing a selection. GIMP is good but it's complex and overkill for simple tasks. Anything else?

Slackware :: Good Wireless Card That Works With System Out Of Box?

Mar 7, 2011

I have an older laptop (Dell Inspiron 4100) on which I have installed a minimal Slackware system, and have just managed to get wireless working by using a Linksys Wireless-G card (WPC54GS) and installing the b43 packages from the SlackBuilds site.

Unfortunately, I am experiencing system freezes ... and if my Google searches are correct, these are related to the firmware driver (b43 stuff).

I wonder if anyone can recommend a good wireless card that works with Slackware out of the box ?
