Ubuntu :: 'alignment Top_left' Move CONKY To Another Screen?
Oct 12, 2010I use 2 monitors and Conky defaults to the top right of my right-hand monitor.I'd like to move it to the top right of the left-hand monitor.
'alignment top_left' moves it to the left-hand monitor, but obviously the left-hand side. I need it on the right.

What i want is something simple, in my black background i dont want images and effects, only white simple text.
My problem is: i want for instance my specs above, my log info in the middle, my music info bellow (above my clock) and in conky config i'm hitting my head in the wall....
For instance if i use my facebook script to appear in the midle how the hell can i put my music info bellow without ruined the facebook in the midle...do i need 2 conky configs?

Oct 31, 2010Introduction: After quite some time I have used windows i have returned to Linux, I used to love Linux but than I had to use windows for gaming purposes. Now, I have decided to try Linux again in dual boot with windows 7 ultimate. Installation was pretty smooth, I successfully installed Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit amd).
1: I have a dual screen setup, one 17'' screen in the left and a main 22'' screen in the middle. It works perfectly in windows but for some bizarre reason I can't manage to configure my 22'' inch screen as a main screen in ubuntu. Furthermore, when I set them together the smaller screen (which it sets as main) as some weird location issues. (may have something to do with 2 and 3).
2: My 17'' inch screen (mentioned above), is a native 1280X1024. But ubuntu doesn't give me that as an option. I have 1360X768 (which is over the native) and 1152X864.
3: This is probably the cause for the 2 first problems. I have installed ATI CATALYST control panel in order to fix those problems, and it says : " There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition. It could be caused by the following. No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for you ATI hardware, or configure using aticonfig."
CentOS 5 Server :: GUI Only Run In The Middle Of Screen?

When i try to boot it up it ends up with the black screen and flashing white x in the middle of the screen.Luckily the company have a back up to do the job but would like to try to resolve it on the rig rather than send it back to Germany

After upgrading to Fedora 13, the bottom panel bar is in the old position, and over any windows that extend below line 600.Is there something I need to do to get the panel bar to go to the bottom of the screen like it did in Fedora 12?

Mar 10, 2010I initially installed Debian with the Gnome desktop. I recently installed the KDE desktop enviro to try it out, but when I log-in to it, a big grey box with a white horizontal volume level bar in it shows up in the middle of the screen, and you can't get rid of it. It is always on top, on top of any other open app or window. Trying to quit Kmix from the panel bar doesn't help, it doesn't even get rid of Kmix, it immediately reloads and pops back up in the bottom panel bar. Also, you can't adjust the volume with the Kmix icon, when you raise the volume lever, as soon as you let go, it goes back down to 0 level. I tried searching, but couldn't find anyone else who complained of the same problem. Using pkilll to kill Kmix didn't help either, it just reloads.

I can login remotely OK but am not sure what to look for. It seems to be something X11 related but I'm not sure. Ubuntu :: Conky Slow To Run - Appear On The Screen?
Oct 24, 2010I've been running Ubuntu 10.10 since its became available and have recently dialed in my conky config. All has been working just fine. I usually leave my system running 24x7 and will reboot it or shut it down from time to time.
I have conky running via a command line (manual) and as soon as I enter 'conky' it will run immediately. However, this morning I rebooted my system, ran conky in a terminal window as I usually do...nothing the usual script shows up in the terminal window, but conky didn't appear on the screen. I've not changed backgrounds, changed my .conkyrc file, nothing. I removed conky and reinstalled it and pulled a new .conkyrc from a backup. I could read the original just fine, but thought perhaps the . file had something wrong. Still the same results...conky didn't appear on the desktop. Here is what is really weird.
After about 3 or 5 minutes, conky appeared on screen and is running fine except its no longer pulling my external IP number via:

Mar 10, 2010After seeing this conky profile I decided to try my hand at making something similar, as my conky profile looked pretty unappetising.All my conkyrc file does at the moment, is display an image and I seem to be falling at the first hurdle. I would like the image to be flush to the bottom of the screen however it floats about 100px above the bottom of the screen.Screenshot attached and conkyrc file below. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Mar 4, 2011I have had this problem with all installations of Maverick Meerkat. Moving the default clock from the upper panel to the lower panel makes it bahave strangely. When clicked on, it now appears in the middle of the screen (sometimes even higher depending on resolution). This never happened prior to Maverick Meerkat.
How do I go about to fix this strange bug?
