View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed language packs for Japanese and changed my system language to it, too. The problem is, now that I try to go back to English, the locale doesn't change back, only the menus are in english. "Apply system wide" in the Language Support didn't do anything; Firefox is in japanese too. Here is my locale output:
LANG=ja_JP.utf8
LANGUAGE=en_US:en
LC_CTYPE="ja_JP.utf8"
[code]....
I was curious if this is the standard behaviour... I had all my F12 system in spanish, including Firefox. But now after I upgraded to F13, Firefox switched to english (the rest of my system remains in spanish).So, is this supposed to happen or something went wrong? How could I fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhere to find a plug-in for Firefox that supports the following functions:
- Showing translation of a word by a simple shortcut (like Shift + Right click).
- Allowing to modify list of dictionaries (by giving links to web dictionaries).
- Storing the words into personal vocabulary for later reference.
- Allowing to type in the word for translation.
There is a large list of plug-ins for Firefox that have some of the functionality above, but after quite a long time I wasn't able to find one that satisfies all of the requirements.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am learning japanese and I would like to be able to switch between english and japanese input while keeping an english interface. How would I achieve that? I am using KDE, by the way.
In the Kiten documentation I read that pressing Shift+Space would enable japanese input (built-in in Kiten, according to the documentation). But that does not seem to work in my system.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed the Neu-0.6-PR3 icon theme (Which i love!). I have installed icon themes in the past, but have never really wanted to change individual icons within the packs until now. I like every icon in the pack so far, except the Firefox one. I found this old article explaining how to change the firefox icon, but i guess the directories have changed over time because i'm missing some[URL] still have the original icon in this folder, /usr/share/pixmaps/firefox.png

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to change the scroll speed for the mouse in Firefox? View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to change the color of just the menubar: the bar at the top of the webbrowser that has "Menu Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help" etc. I do NOT want to change the color of the Ubuntu Top and Bottom "taskbars." If I go to System-Preferences-Appearance and customize Controls it always changes all three. Is there a way to just change the color of Firefox's menubar so it's more decipherable from the Window Border?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to set (change) the default pagestyle in firefox?
I can select my desired pagestyle from the View > Page Style menu; however, this is reset every time I launch a new instance (i.e. new window) of firefox. I want my desired pagestyle to be implemented automatically whenever I launch firefox.
I suspect that there may be a setting in about:config, but I have no idea what it would be called. I've tried using the search feature in about:config for "page" and "style", but I get irrelevant results (judging by the names of the actual search results).
edit: Sorry, forgot to mention: Firefox version 3.6.8
Don't even know where this error comes from, or why, but as the title says - bookmarks are in total lockdown. no error messagessimply no change when I add or delete or move bookmarks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used a custom firefox icon (included in hydroxygen theme) in jaunty. Now, in karmic, the window icon is stuck with the default firefox icon. I managed to get the gnome menu and panel icons to change by sim-linking to my desired icons and naming the links "firefox-3.5.png" I can see my custom icon when I first start Firefox, when the "starting firefox" window appears in the tasklist. After the main window is up, the icon reverts to the default icon.If you don't know what I mean here's a screenshot where I have an already-opened window alongside an opening window. I would like the window to use the icon in the instance on the right.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have my 10.04 set up with english (us and gb) as well as spanish languages installed.
I have firefox 3.6.3 compiled and installed for a 64 bit system. The firefox source code comes only with en-US locale, so I obtained en-GB.jar and es-ES.jar (as well as their manifests) from firefox.com and added them manually to my chrome directory.
This had worked in the past, when I'd logout and switch the gnome locale to es-ES firefox would come up in es-ES etc, but for some reason firefox will only start up in en-US now.
How can I fix this to match the desired behaviour?
There is a site that I visit so often that it's domain ends with (.org) and when I go there I write the name and press (ctrl+shift+enter) but sometimes I press (ctrl+enter) and it takes me to a site that I hate so is there a way to make firefox when I write [url] take me to [url].
View 3 Replies View RelatedI decided to see if I could update my Firefox install that comes with Crunchbang Linux (cut-down Ubuntu).
I followed the Mozilla instructions to the letter and the first thing I found was that I had missing files and or directories. With this in mind and thinking about it - I uninstalled my current Firefox with the Package manager.
I then followed the install instrcutions again but, this time telling the system where to find the .tar.bz2 file I donwloaded (version 3.6 from the mozilla site).
Everything appeared to extract and following the instructions for starting Firefox - I got version 3.0.17, exactly the same as I already had.
