Ubuntu :: Possible? /temp/www/fake/ Contents (directory) Avaliable Through /temp/www/?

Dec 20, 2010

I have a web server whos DocumentRoot is:/tmp/wwwNow, /temp/www/fake/ is a directory that contains a series of other files/folders.What I want to do is access the files in /temp/www/fake as if they were in the root directory (/temp/www/)For example:

could either be located in "/temp/www/test.php"
-or-
located in "/temp/www/fake/test.php"

so "http://127.0.0.1/test.php" would essentially call both directories. Is this possible? Whould I do this through apache or through the actual file system somehow? (Like some sort of symbolic link?) I would love to hear your input.

OpenSUSE :: Kmail To Firefox - Url Is Linked To Temp Cache Files

Aug 30, 2011

I'm using Opensuse11.4 and have kmail and Firefox. When I click a url: link in kmail it opens a new tab in Firefox. The problem is that the url is linked to my temp cache files as this file:///var/tmp/kdecache-terry/krun/1589.0.ctt

The tab this opens has most of the link icons stripped out and the links to other parts of the website don't work and I get a "file not found" error and the link is to a file which doesn't exist file:///contribute.php3

This is only a minor annoyance as I can right click > copy the url and paste it to the address bar in Firefox then it works ok. I don't think it anything in either programme that's broken because this happened after an update to Opensuse 11.4 on my previous laptop and has happened again on my new laptop with a fresh install.

Ubuntu :: Folder Icons Won't Change / What To Fix It?

Jul 17, 2011

I'm using Ubuntu Studio 10.10 and I was installing some programs the other night. After I had finished installing the programs, the folder icons (and their respective windows) changed to this god-awful beige colour. I'm using the "UbuntuStudio" theme which has these nice glossy blue folders by default, but they've changed as I said to this ugly colour that, quite frankly, sickens me.
I've gone into the Appearance Preferences and tried to work it out there, but no matter what I do, the folders never change.
If any of you know how I can fix this.

Ubuntu :: Firefox Won't Work After Putting Home Folder On New Partition?

Jan 9, 2010

I have just finished transferring my home folder to a new partition. I did so by carefully following instructions on this link [URL] I had firefox open and was copying instructions one by one into an open terminal window.

When I tried to reboot ubuntu I first had a problem with ICEauthority which I think is now fixed and ubuntu then started as normal but when I tried to run Firefox I got a message saying that it was already open.

As I had Firefox open when I was copying files to the new partition I assume that some setting was copied saying that Firefox was open?

Is it possible to simply adjust this setting or do I have to undo the transfer and repeat the process with firefox closed.

I have not deleted my copy of the old home folder yet.

Ubuntu :: Accidental Permission Change To 'none' On Folder?

Mar 13, 2010

A rather new user here, was messing with the preferences on a user folder of mine on Karmic, looking for a way to make the folder invisible to users (like the old windows option). Set it to 'none', then closed it, returned to the directory finding the folder with a box with an 'x' on it.

Went to open it, it says 'access denied'. So I think 'okay, how do I undo that', go back to see if I can restore it back to 'read & write' with no sucess.

Seached the forums for a solution to this issue, most of solutions revolve around 'gksudo nautilus' which I attempted to open via command-line. Nothing seemed pop open after I entered my password in responce to entering said command-line, probably because I really don't know how to use Nautilus.

Ubuntu :: Change Just One Folder To Default To 775 Perms Instead Of 755?

Sep 12, 2010

I want multiple users to have full reign to. As a result, this share is already set up with the gid being set, so any files/folders that get written to it are automatically assigned the group "share", to which the users in question are members of this group "share."

The problem is, if Bob creates something, it comes down as bob:share with 755 perms, so Fred cannot write/delete. What it optimal is having 775 perms, but it's hard for an administrator to continually do this over and over when it'd be nice to just automatically set the perms on the fly to 775. How can I change just one folder to default to 775 perms instead of 755?
