On command line I can do the following perfectly:
Code:
which results
Code:
All files permission on the drive is 777. I can read, I can write, do whatever I want.
But in GNOME Desktop environment, when the USB drive is plugged-in, the partition is auto-mounted with other options:

All files permission on the drive is now 555. I can't write to it anymore. I saw a post earlier having similar mount result, but this one is USB drive though.
So how to configure GDE mount automatically with my intended mount options?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a text editor / log manager of some kind that will automatically refresh a file's contents when it changes.
I have a single target log file (e.g. current.log) that is overwritten under certain circumstances and I'd like to be able to leave it displayed and not constantly have to re-open the file to get updates. Much the same as 'tail --follow=name' does in Linux.
I'm using a Windows desktop but it's a remote file so a Linux app would work just as easily.
I recently switched my desktop from Fedora to CentOS. On Fedora it auto detects my refresh rate at 85 Hz. On CentOS by default it only allowed 60 Hz. I looked at the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and the display settings were:

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have gnome's display settings recognise higher refresh rates than 56hz, as my nvidia is set to 85hz, but gnome display still thinks its 56hz, and I believe this is causing many programs I'm using to refresh at 56hz. Compiz works beautifully after overriding the refresh rate inside it, as it too thought I was using 56hz instead of 85 but many games aswell as CairoDock as jerky, which makes me think it is a refresh issue.
How can I make gnome know I'm using 85hz?
I have laptop with Mobility Radeon HD3200 graphics. Gnome 3 works more or less fine until I start Skype. When Skype is running switching between the windows is a pain in the a$$. The screen flickers, looks crappy, takes ages to refresh, etc. Anyone experience similar things? I also noticed that when I start yumex I also get the screen doing the same things as with Skype, but to a much lesser extent and only for a few seconds. View 4 Replies View Relatedis it would be possible create a Ubuntu dvd that contains the ubuntu server desktop and alternate install opptions, as well as all four main desktop environments (gnome, kde, xfce, lxde) and unity. since much of the data is redundant between each version cd's it would probably all fit on one disk. then all that would be needed is two disks one for 32 bit and another for 64 bit. i really think that this could work.
