Ubuntu :: X Session:warning :x Rdb Command Not Found :x Resources Not Merged
Mar 1, 2010
I have installed ubuntu Server 9.10 [ubuntu-9.10-server-i386]in ma machine. After giving the command startx i couldnt goto gui . It saying x session : warning: x rdb command not found resource not merged.
I am currently running Suse 11.3. I continue to get the following error when logging into the KDE login manager with my user account
"Warning: Cannot open ConsoleKit session: Unable to open session. The name org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit was not provided by any .service files."
After acknowledging the error, it resets back to the login manager screen. If I login with root, I get the same message, but it continues on and logins into the session
I have been updating my system and making a few changes and now I have a serious problem with GNOME (as far a I understand). In the Desktop if I try to start some applications such as the text editor gedit it crashes and won't start. Some applictions start from the menu some don't (e.g. services) and others start and then crash if I try to example manipulate them (e.g. open a file in openoffice).
In the case of gedit if I try to run it from the command line as root I get the following
# gedit
(gedit:6475): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.Illegal instruction [code]....
When I try to start the services (i.e. /usr/bin/system-config-services) I get:
Have you guys had this weird nautilus error? When I su to root and run "nautilus" in terminal, errors popped out:
Code: (nautilus:3979): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Failed to connect to the session manager: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported(nautilus:3979): Eel-WARNING **: GConf error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.)
I've recently installed Fedora 14 (x86_64) on my Alienware m15x laptop which has a NVIDIA GTX 260m onboard. Now I have followed leigh123linux's guide to installing those drivers on F14. The installation is a success and everything seems to be in working order, until the system randomly logs the user out and/or restarts the session with no warning. The screen goes black and the nvidia logo appears and then its back to the login screen again. This can happen many times with no apparent stop insight. This does not happen with the default F14 drivers that come with the installation, I have tried several re installations of the Fedora OS and several re installations of the NVIDIA driver, i still have the same problems.
This is installed and I get this error. I am attempting to install razor-agents 2.84 and get this error along with: Warning: prerequisite URI::Escape 0 not found.
Both of these were install in CPAN. When I attempt to install them again, they say they are up to date.
I am trying to compile and install a new kernel. I have downloaded the 2.6.37 version from kernel.org and I have extracted it in usr/src/linux-2.6.37/ folder.I have tried to compile it and install it according to the instruction given in the following web site and which I found very useful:ttp://www.digitalhermit.com/linux/K...WTO.html#INTRONevertheless, I am encountering some problems during the make install modules process as I get some warnings (i.e. The title of this post).I thought to ignore the warnings and continue by copying the modules in /lib/modules/linux-2.6.37 but this is not possible since at that directory there is no folder created with the new kernel I am trying to install and thus I get a msg saying: FATAL: could not load /lib/modules/2.6.37/modules.dep.
The warning message: WARNING: modpost: found X section mismatch(es) suggests to run a make CONFIG_DEBUG_SECTION_MISMATCH=y.At the moment I am running a make again and saving the output to a file so that I can see later on what are the mismatches that I get. In any case we are talking about more than 50 mismatches so I am wondering if these mismatches are not that serious and the problem I cannot install and copy the modules is something else
SInce I upgraded to 13.1 I get the above error with lots of programs. I check the D-BUS with /etc/rc.d/rc.messagebus status and it says the D-BUS daemon is running. What should I check next??
Every time I open my terminal a warning message shows up. The warning is the following:
Code: Select allwarning: output DFP2 not found; ignoring
There is no output DFP2 in my system. I ran xrarndr and the outputs are the following:

I have done something very studpid I think and was wondering if there's any chance to recovery a folder. I, for some stupid reason, merged a symbolic link with the actual folder, Thought I was doing something else. Now the directory does not seem to exist and when I click on it there is an error saying 'The link '/directory/' is broken'
I'm stepping out with LDAP for the first time. It's up and running. My Question is really closer to DB4, the Berkely database. When I start the ldap service I get this output:
# service ldap restart Stopping slapd: [ OK ] Checking configuration files for slapd: bdb_db_open: Warning - No DB_CONFIG file found in directory /var/lib/ldap: (2) Expect poor performance for suffix dc=example,dc=com. config file testing succeeded
I installed squid 2.7 and want to use squid_session external acl rule. But there is no squid_session in any dir, looked everywhere. On my Ubuntu box I also have squid 2.7 and there I have squid_session.
I installed TeXlive 2010 and when i compile this command pdflatex it shows the following error:
warning: kpathsea: configuration file texmf.cnf not found in these directories: /usr/bin:/usr:/usr/share/texlive:/usr/bin/share/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/share/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/share/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/bin/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/bin/share/texmf/web2c:/usr/share/texmf/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/share/texmf/web2c:/usr/bin/texmf/web2c:/usr/texmf/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/texmf/web2c.

I know my way around MS Windows much better, but I just don't feel right trying to program something for Android on a Microsoft operating system. I am interested in Android programming so I followed the instructions on [URL] to install the environment on my computer...
I just installed the JDK, SDK, Eclipse successfully (or I assume):
* When I get to Step 4 where I'm supposed to run 'android' it will not run. I get the error message "android: command not found" (I am definitely in the right directory).
** When I double-click it in nautilus, it opens up in gedit. I can set the permissions in nautilus (through the properties - Allow executing file as a program) and get it to work,
I've been searching Google for a dedicated Sirius/XM client, but cannot find anything recent. Some of the older clients no longer work after the two companies merged.
I have 2 fat32 partitions that I use for things that I share between windows and fedora I decided to merge them into one partition so I did this with cfdisk by deleting them creating and creating 1 large fat32 partition with the free space. When I boot my machine I am presented with: grub> I used the fedora cd to "rescue a broken system" and everything seems fine? I didn't touch any partition besides my extra fat32 partitions and my /boot partition is bootable. How do I tell this minimalistic grub to use my normal grub.conf?
In Ubuntu 10.04 grub command prompt setup command does not exist for installing grub.I am trying to recover my Feodra12 OS.Did anyone find alternate command for setup in grub command line for Ubuntu 10.04 ?
May I know what is wrong in the following TAR command? It works, but generate a warning... > tar -cpzvf /etc/a000/backup.tar.gz /etc/r000 tar: Removing leading `/' from member names
I have WD external hdd (80GB) formatted with fat32. I was using this hdd to transfer the data from computer A (LINUX, RH9) to computer B (Win7).
I was keep copying and deleting the data in the WD hdd during the data transfer because the amount to transfer is more than 300GB.
After doing this several times (and the WD drive was emptied), comp. A said the disk is full. I checked using 'df' and it was really full but 'ls -la' shows that there is no data in it.
I checked it in comp. B, and it showed empty. I tried to format in comp. A using 'mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/xxx# (block#)', but showed an error message like below.
'Warning: block count mismatch: found 78xxxxx but assuming 0'.
I found a similar situation in this forum metioning 'possible damaged linux kernel (not exactly same expression though)', so I re-installed linux in comp. A, but the problem was not solved.
1. why the disk info. is showed differently in linux and win7 2. why I cannot format it
Whenever I try and use php from the command line, I get this message:PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/imagick.so' - /usr/lib64/php/modules/imagick.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0The problem isn't the missing module, it is the warming message itself -- it is breaking scripts that rely on the output.I tried shutting off errors, changed my error reporting to:
I have execute following command and got the following warning. [root@sina0012 /]# serviceconf No display information -- gtk_init not called Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
