I cant use my microphone in skype
and I don't know how I can test it whether it works or not ... you know ... to see it's a driver problem or not code...
I installed Skype onto my Toshiba Satellite running Karmic last December, and gave it a very successful test run. However, while video still works, and I can receive audio, the microphone does not pick up any sound. I don't think it could be a hardware issue- it worked so recently and my machine has experienced no tramatic events since, but I can't pick up any sound using Sound Recorder either. How could I go about diagnosing and fixing this problem?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit) from Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit) on my Samsung R580 laptop [URL] So far all my hardware seems to be working except the laptop's integrated camera. In 10.04 the camera worked and I could use the program "Cheese" to take photos and videos with the camera. In 10.10 I installed Cheese and tried to use my laptop's camera but it didn't work. I installed all the available updates for 10.10 but still the camera wouldn't work. The only information about the camera on the laptop's webpage is that it is a 1.3 MP Web Camera.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a few problems with my sound. First off, I don't know exactly what chip it is, but my laptop is an Acer Aspire 6530 running a fully updated Fedora 13. Sound itself works, but that's about as far as it goes. So, here are my problems:Built-in laptop speakers don't auto-mute/turn off whenever something it plugged into the headphones jack.Microphone doesn't seem to work, both the one next to my webcam as well as any mic attached to the mic jack. The webcam itself works fine.I would be really happy if I could get these issues fixed. I was so impressed that I made Fedora my only OS on my laptop, but fixing a few more things would be even better.

It isn't even detecting the wireless card, and the network manager will only let me connect to wired networks (I'm connected to my router via ethernet cable right now).
I've pressed the LED killswitch but it does nothing (doesn't change from orange to blue nor does it have any noticeable effect on the network manager or the reports of the above 2 commands).
so, when i first got my laptop it came with vista and the ethernet worked fine, then when I decided to install Karmic about 9 months ago it still worked fine. After a while the update for lucid came out so I upgraded to that and then the ethernet started getting buggy. It would only work about half the time that i wanted it too and the other half of the time it would just stare at me and not move anywhere. So along with a couple other bugs I decided to format my harddrive and downgrade back to karmic and await the 10.10 release. unfortunatly my ethernet woes carried with me and they still would only show up on occasion. then about half way through my time with karmic round 2 it stopped altogether, and with the upgrade back to lucid it hasn't seemed to solve itself.
I ran through ifconfig -a, lspci and sudo ifup -a but they all tell me that the device doesn't exist.
every since i upgraded to 9.10 Karmic Koala i can no longer connect my camera or my camera phone to the computer to get my pics off..
