I don't want it completely disabled as I sometimes require it but I'd prefer if the BT radio was in the off state as default.Really the bluetooth state should be persistent across boots - i.e. remember the last state.

Mar 13, 2010I once had wicd running at KDE startup as I was just playing around with it. The problem is I now have turned off rc.wicd and don't want to use wicd any more. Every time I start KDE it still asks for the root password which I cancel and it then tells me it can't connect to wicd's dbus. Feb 25, 2010I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my computer. I also have Galaxy (Nvidia) 9500 GT PCI-E card installed on it. I can get both monitors (Acer X223w) to work but every time I shut off the computer and turn it back on the second monitor is shut off. I just need to turn it back on using Nvidia X Server Settings. I have tried to save my X configuratin file but I keep getting an error of:" Unable to remove old X config backup file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'. I have a feeling this is because I am not signed in as root. Is this correct? If this is the case is there a way to get to sign in as root not using the command lines? Otherwise they need to remove this button. I can manually create a backup (copy paste into a text file). I think. Getting back to my Xorg.conf file, I think I need to modify it to have two screens. I have also got some information on my video card using the lspci command. I think I need some information from this. I have written below (towards the bottom) what I think the file should be. Now before I do this, does anybody know of an easy way to back up my whole computer? With my luck I am about to screw something up big time. I think I can just get away with the text file that I copied from the Xorg. Worst case scenario I will just manually replace the file.

Nov 2, 2010The bluetooth manager does not detect a bluetooth dongle .trying to use ndiswrapper to fix.I installed device manager and the results are shown below.i downloaded the windows driver suite. It has 4 .exe self extracting driver archives and a setupconfig.ini. The .ini file is below.I was able to extract one of the 32bit archives on a windows machine and it had about 8 .inf files that are titled weird and would not install properly using ndiswrapper probably because im using the 64-bit architecture. there are 2 64bit .exe's in the driver download, but how can i extract them in ubuntu and do i really need to install all 8 .inf files. also do i actually need to make a .inf file? if so how?

well I install the printer, everything works perfectly.....but, when I turn off the PC, and turn it on again, the printer does NOT work!, I send work for being printed but mothing happens , Ubuntu tells me that the job was printed but ... no case, my printer does not print it.

Ubuntu :: Alsamixer Startup "speaker" Level (and Screen Brightness Startup Level)
May 23, 2010I just upgraded to the 10.04 and everything works just fine as before (except for skype but that really doesn't matters as it has already been 3 years I'm using ubuntu and I managed to get it to work only once, for miracle I believe ^^). The only real issue I have is this: when I start up my laptop, after the log-in, no sound will be heared as the "speaker" volume level in alsamixer is set to 0; if I raise it from the terminal running alsamixer (as I don't know any other alternative) everything plays just fine, but the next time I boot I do have to do it all over again... So, how can I change the default startup level of the "speaker" in alsamixer?
PS: by the way I do have the very same issue with the screen luminosity but the other way round as is always starts at maximum brightness and I can't manage to get it to start at the minimum, as it did before. At least reducing the backlight if far more quick but a couple of times I forget it and the battery lasted something like half an hour
