Ubuntu :: The System Does Not Recognize Phone's Memory Card
Mar 6, 2010
I have a problem with recognising my mobile phone's memory card in Ubuntu 9.10. When I plug the phone in it starts the mass storage mode, but nothing happens in the PC. I suspect that I may have deleted phone's icon from the desktop, and I don't know how to bring it back. Also the memory card doesn't appear anywhere: nor in the Places tab, nor in Media folder. The phone is Samsung U900 Soul.
Few weeks ago modified my old mobile phone SE k750i by setting on it w800i firmware. After this my phone isn't really (fully automatically) recognized by Ubuntu (9.10) which is the small problem for me now. Linux recognizes it as a USB device, but doesn't automatically mount it, which is why I have to do that manually and that leads to read only permissions for my user.
Here are the few outputs:
lsusb Code: Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 006: ID 046d:c222 Logitech, Inc. G15 Keyboard / LCD Bus 002 Device 005: ID 046d:c221 Logitech, Inc. I've tried to create a custom udev rule via this thread, by putting the correct information according to lsusb:
Code: SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0fce", ATTRS{idProduct}=="d028", MODE="0660", OWNER="zivs" and reloading the udev rules, but that didn't help also.
How could I make my Ubuntu mount the /dev/sdb1 (which is my phone's memory card, since manually mounting it, there's all my phone recorded stuff) automatically on Desktop with all read and write permissions when I connect my phone to computer? Phone gets recognized immediately on Win7 OS ... but after the firmware change it's not really recognized by Ubuntu anymore.
How do i get debian to recognize my wireless card? i have one built right into my laptop after some messing around on the terminal i believe it is a code...
I had F14 up and running as a server working awesome. I shut it down and moved it. Now on start up, system doesn't seem to recognize my ethernet card...eth0. How to get my ethernet card back online?
So the only experience I have with Linux is all from Ubuntu, and I just spontaneously decided that I needed a change...two days later my triple boot Macbook Pro got slimmed down to a dual boot OSX/OpenSUSE 11.2 machine. But there are some general problems, and I have absolutely no idea how to solve them. First, wireless isn't recognized at all...there isn't even a space for wireless connections. Second, I haven't been able to get compiz to work yet, and I can only suspect that the system doesn't recognize my video card, or the driver isn't installed. Yet again, no idea how to fix this.
How do I get Bitpim to work on my lg vu cu920 phone on Ubuntu 10.04? I have the data cable. I seen serval peoples said they got it to work but they never said how. I set the phone to the lg-vx8700. Sometime I get ports that will be open and then not. It doesn't mount under the mass storage. Would be awesome if someone on here could explain how they did it. Believe me I looked all over google and the forums and they all talk about they got it to work but no further details. Can't really bring up really old threads on here.
My bluetooth doesn't seem to be working, and ubuntu recognises the inernet(i mean connected to the computer by cable)but mozzilla doesn't seem to be surfing the net),and it doesnt detect wireless signals at all.I'm new to ubuntu,it works in windows so theres no internet p[roblem, and my bluetooth is fine in windows, ubuntu doesnt seem to recognise my phone or desktop at all.And how do you move file freely like drag drop save as?Is there any other way other than those terminal commands?thanx ubuntu version 10.4.Some one told me i should configure some DHCP,i have absolutely no idea of what it is( for internet)
Preliminary checks of sound level settings and obvious dumb stuff but there is still no sound. The problem seems to be that the system does not recognize the existence of the sound card and insists on using alternative audio devices.
I have a Samsung SGH-D900 with its USB cable, and tried to connect to my Netbook - Ubuntu 10.04 to download photos, but the Netbook doesn't recognize the Cell Phone. Is there a Linux Driver for Samsung SGH-D900?
I have been waiting on installing ubuntu on my mid 2010 MBP 15' for a while now. I was wondering if the dynamic GPU switching was supported yet. Does Ubuntu recognize the intel card and can I use it over the nVidia card?
I installed new CentOS 5.5(X86_64) on my server. My server has 48 G RAM (12*4G) and can be found when starting server. Moreover, I installed dmidecode software to detect the memory. This software can find all the memory. I used command (top, cat /proc/meminfo) to check memory. Both commands can only find 33G RAM. uname -a command output like this: 2.6.18-194.el5xen #1 SMP Fri Apr 2 15:34:40 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I have attached usb memory to my Linux server and I want to add it to my /etc/fstab .Can you please let me know how can I recognize it from my"/dev/?" list ?
At work we have a linux based ip phone system. Now this system was buggy for a bit but we now have it working perfectly. As it is we clone this hard drive and on backup I clone it back. This works but if for whatever I'm not in the office the backup can't go through because apparently no one can read the VERY simple instructions. What i would like to do is burn a cd with a copy of the hard drive (this configuration will change once every 6-12 months at maximum) as well as a VERY minimal linux install.
The goal is they stick the cd in and reboot. The system loads the super minimal linux then it runs a batch file that clones the portion of the CD that has the hard drive onto the system then it asks the nice moron....err....person...to remove the cd and reboot All I need is a a bootable system to a bash script that will run live from cd. I can make the nice bash script that puts to the screen a nice ascii graphic telling the lucky sap it's running and to come back in a little bit to make sure it's done.
I am having a problem recognizing the full 24GB memory on a dell PowerEdge R610 system I just purchased. This is the Fedora 11 preview version, uname -a returns this:Linux comp1 2.6.29.3-140.fc11.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue May 12 10:44:27 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
this is the off the shelf box from Dell and it is a quad-core with 24GB memory, but the OS can only recognize about 3GB, here is the free -m
total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 2980 607 2373 0 24 176
the system is otherwise functioning normal. how to get the full 24GB of mem recognized?
Smart phone (MyTouch 3G) SD card is NOT being detected in Fedora 14 installed on Asus G73 JW-A1 laptop. Notes: SD Card, using the same cable, is detected just fine on Windows laptop and was detected on a desktop computer (that I no longer have access to) that was running Fedora 12.
I am looking for an application to assist me to back up my sim card on my mobile telephone. In fact I am aiming to copy all my phone contacts and restore it on a newer phone if possible.
I have previously attempted to do this on Wammu without success.
I have also attempted to install monosim without success.
My Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 on my Asus EEE PC 1000HE computer does not recognize SD card."sudo fdisk -l" command does not result anything related to SD card even when the card is in the slot.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 on an older Compaq Evo D310. When I do a search of my video card I get "01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage 128 Pro Ultra TF", which is the integrated card on the motherboard, but I'm actually using an Nvidia GeForce 2 MX 400. At least that's the card my VGA monitor is connected to. How do I get Ubuntu to recognize the Nvidia card? I'd like to try installing an nvidia legacy driver for it to boost performance. Thanks.
I`m using Fedora 14 and i`ve one problem, i use x-lite phone on windows and what is x-lite alternative for linux ? i`ve found x-lite phone for linux but it dont work fine . It has problems with sound card etc. What do you recommend?
I want to use my CentOS-Server for logging incoming phone calls using an AVM Fritz-Card.It should also be possible to notify clients (Linux and Windows) on incoming calls, or there should at least be a web-frontend.Is there any software like that in the CentOS-Repository available?Or is there another software like that, that is easy to install? I already asked google (an i will go on), but I couldn't exactly find what I want.
Moving this to new topic, since it's no longer under wireless connectivity issues. [Noob Warning] I was having trouble getting Ubuntu to recognize my wireless card, as I have changed from the 3965 that came in my computer to the 4965, which added increased range and G band. Anyway, I read one of the threads on here, and this was the advice given:

just installed ubuntu but it doesn't recognise my wireless card. I'm running an emachines g720. Ive tried looking through some previous posts but the terminal thing frightens me to death really.I've tried looking through the idiots guide but i'm afraid i'm a better idiot than that.
Today I deleted Windows on my Dell Latitude D610 and instead installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it (I had a cd with 10.04 on it from when I installed it on my desktop a year ago). Everything runs fine except I can't get the wifi to work, and it won't recognize the driver either, actually it doesn't recognize any drivers.
how do I get ubuntu to recognize my external video card? i move my old hard drive from one computer to a new computer running ubuntu 11.04 how can i make it see the new video card?
I cannot get the restricted Nvidia drivers or the Nouveau drivers to work completely. If the Nouveau drivers are being used (after an "apt-get purge nvidia-*"), the text mode seems to work ok, but the X nouveau driver acts as if it cannot recognize the card. The only way I can get into X is to make sure I have the "nv" driver in the xorg.conf. I can then get into X normally.
If I install nvidia-current, the machine will just lock up at the splash screen. The Xorg.0.log file is zero bytes. I've checked and installing nvidia-current properly blacklists the nouveau drivers and I see no evidence in the messages file that the nouveau drivers tried to load in text mode. In fact, it shows the nvidia driver loading for console mode. I've tried the nouveau.modeset=0 kernel option as well, but that doesn't do anything. This is a fairly new nvidia card, maybe only a couple months old. I think it's been out for quite some time though. But it was working fine under Karmic with the restricted drivers. I really want to get this working as I need full support of the video card.
I had Karmic a while back, but i got rid of it becasue of my Bcm4312 Wireless Card would not recognize the STA driver, or bcm43xx.In that time i learned a bit of command line stuff. anyways now that I have my internet working, I was just wondering What I could do with ubuntu. I am interested in the command line and Programming. Where could I learn more about the 2 subjects?
I have a sandisk sd card with 3 partitions two ext2 and one fat 32 partition for some reson Ubuntu only automounts two ext2 partitions. I've tried inserting another card with only one fat32 partition and the system doesn't mount it. Both cards are visible in gparted byt not in "Places" menu.
