I just want to tell everyone how good the Garmin/Asus A10 mobile phone is as an internet modem.I am in Australia and Mobile internet is an expensive thing to have. cheapest is dodo but i had a few problems trying out a friends usb modem.Anyway i was in the market for a Gps phone and discover this one. it is Android phone and pretty cheap so far it is very good gps, camera, mp3, and phone is excellent.BUT here is the clincher. when you plug it into the computer, the phone screen lights up and gives you 3 options.

I have a Samsung phone (S3310) and I'm trying use it as a modem to access the net on 10.04. I set up a Mobile broadband connection (under network connections) and I'm pretty sure the settings are correct because it works on a Nokia phone with the same service provider.
When I plug in my Data Cable and set it to Samsung PC Studio mode, my phone isn't detected as a modem. I just tried wvdialconf and it says "No modem detected". I'm guessing that maybe I'm missing some drivers here. what I can do get the phone detected as a modem.
I can pair my phone and laptop using bluetooth, from Network manager I can select my phone and make a connection. But then I can't access anything.I looked at the connection info from nm and tried to ping the given dns addresses. That failed. And I pinged those addresses when I reconnected with wireless and it failed. So, where are these setup? I didn't do it

I would like to download a few (591)images from the Galaxy S phone. Samsung have advised me that to do that I need to place the Galaxy S phone on Mass storage, whivch I can do and plug the phone USB cable to the PC and manually mount the USB. The Galaxy S firmware 2.1-update1 doesn't support automatic mounting! The Galaxy S has an Android platform Kernel version 2.6.29 with root @SE-S604 #2. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on a AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1700+ with 1G of ram. It's the manual mounting of the USB connection

Just to be sure I tried the same thing with FreeBSD, though I knew from past experiences what to expect from it. It just worked(tm) flawlessly, but I'd rather not keep FreeBSD just for the sake of one device I can't seem to get working with Linux. All I can guess it must either be a kernel bug that has persisted for far too long or a faulty udev rule.
I am the new bies for redhat.i am using "Nokia 5300" on "RHEL5"as i am going to connect the phone to the sysytem.System gets hang.on the main screen it shows some alphabeats and it Gives the message "KERNEL PANIC".i had read in some thread to use "VID" and "PID" but i dont know how to use it.Is their any method so my kernel can Find my hardware.and runs smoothly. please suggest me some methods so i can use my Nokia phone as an MODEM.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 installed in Dell Vostro. Now I like to connect & use internet from my mobile (Samsung C5212) to my lappy. What is the way to do it??
How can I connect my Nokia 5230 mobile to OpenSuse 11.4 for Internet? I have used Ubuntu, in which they have wvdial but OpenSuse 11.4 does not have wvdial in /etc folder. My phone is detected by OpenSuse but what to do next?
I have just bought a HTC Desire Z mobile phone, running Android 2.2.
It has a feature to allow, via the USB cable, use of the Internet connection on a PC so that the phone can connect via that, rather than use the 3G or wi fi when those are not available or not wanting to use them. I want to download lots of applications without draining my 3G data allowance.
I have searched via Google, and some people have said that it just worked for them. They plugged in the phone to their Ubuntu PC and they could use the Internet on the phone.
But I cannot get it to work. I am new to Android, and still figuring out the phone. In the Settings/Wireless & Networks, there is an option for Internet Pass-through, which is trying to connect but never does. Then it comes up with a message saying: "Unable to connect to PC" and asks me to install HTC Sync software (which is Windows only).
Is there something I need to install in Ubuntu to get it to work?
I've just installed openSuse 11.3. How can i connect to the internet. The Mobile Broadband tab on YaST is not clickable. On Linux Mint that tab is available.
