Is it possible to have all my Hotmail folders be synched with my Evolution? (by default it is only synch-ing Inbox)
I've searched these forums and seen this question raised by many but no clear answer on it yet...
I want to access my hotmail account through evolution. i've set the pop info and all that, but whenever i try to send/receive, it says error fetching mail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI 've got an hotmail (live-mail) account, that I'm using on my iPod with Microsoft Exchange. This is really working fine, so I was very happy when I read, that you can use this feature with Evolution Mail.
Now my Problem is, that the Settings I use on my iPod won't work with Evolution.
I think the Problem is the OWA URL cause whatever I do it can't connect to this Server.
I'll give you the Settings, that work on my iPod:
E-Mail: xxx@hotmail.de
Server: m.hotmail.com
User-Name: xxx@hotmail.de
Password: xxx
SSL: ON
Does anybody know the OWA URL of the Hotmail-Server or does every Account have one of it's own?
I have my hotmail account set up in evolution and it receives just fine but it gets stuck trying to send. Its set to smtp.live.com for the sending server. any suggestions as to why it wont send? i have a gmail account set up with thunderbird and it sends just fine so i know i can send.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have no idea and no understanding of the configuration of Evolution I mean you need to specify something called a "server" for sending and another separate one for receiving. What does this mean? I mean there are plenty of guides that tell you how to but majority of guides of no insight to help you understand what is going on. Also I don't know about you but I find it an incredibly shallow and not to mention fraught experience following guides that contain customized elements because I never know the specifications applicable to me. You can't always just copy and paste commands as sometimes variables are tailored to the instructor's situation.
What is a "server"? What are the servers involved in having an email client?"pop3.live.com" is specified by default. What is pop3?What should I specify as my server type? How do I find out?"SMTP" is specified by default as server type. What is SMTP?What is "inet daemon"? It is mentioned in some guides.What is "hotway"?"This will set the inet daemon to listen to incoming calls on port 2500, and forward the connection to the hotsmtp daemon. Now, save your file, exit gedit, and restart your inetd server using the following command" - what is "port 2500"? This is why Linux will never be able to compete with Windows. Think how easy it is to set up Outlook. It doesn't assume obscure knowledge of technical aspects.
I just synchronized my hotmail account with evolution and it works flawlessly, however every time I click send-receive it stars to download mail by mail (more than 10,000, so it takes a while) and it won't check if I got new messages until it is done. The first time it happened I thought it was a normal thing, and that evo won't scan ever again from my hotmail account. Does anyone know how to stop doing that?
I have another brief question, I would like to know if there's a way that when I read a message on evolution it will also mark as read the same message on my hotmail account.
im really impressed with the OS so far, exactly what i've been looking for. the install was a little rough, it hung up on "getting the time from the server" for almost 15 minutes even though i was connected to the internet. then for the first few bootups, the ubuntu boot screen was a box that only took up 1/4 of the screen. but that went away. anyway - im in now and its all looking good, but theres a few things i would like to be able to know how to do.
#1 - how do i set up evolution to access my hotmail account?
#2 - just noticed this while uploading an avatar to this site, the box that pops up that lets you browse your files - theres no view change? i have to click each individual picture to see what it is; can this be changed?
#3 - what is currently the best way to get an expose-like feature going in ubuntu?

Not working error says "connection reset by peer" receiving works.
Have anyone used an email client that stays in sync with a free Hotmail account? I have setup Claws Mail but when I delete an email within the client it remains on the server. I remember this being the same for other email clients. Is there any client that will stay in sync? If I delete an email from within the client it will also be deleted from Hotmail's web bases interface.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed ubuntu for the first time today, and setup Evolution to check my email from my hotmail account. All went fine, I downloaded all my emails from the last 7 years but then when I actually logged in to my email account on hotmail.com all of my messages were gone and my inbox empty. I was hoping that it would downlaod a copy of my messages - I still want a copy in my hotmail inbox for backup just in case something happens to my computer. Anyway, so my question is there a way to put them back into my hotmail account? I know its not as though I have lost them forever, I just would like the last 7 years of important emails on there in just in case.

I'm running Evolution 2.30.3 on fc13.x64 and I've been getting a funny problem for a while, that now really annoys me:
even if the settings for my hotmail account are correct, Evolution will ask for the password every time I log in. Also, since I keep it open, after a while (~30 minutes) it "forgets" somehow the password and asks for the password again. This time, anyway, it won't work and I have to reset Evolution again.
Bonus question: even if hotmail is configured correctly for receiving and sending (smtp.live.com etc.), it won't send email, but will remain stuck on "sending".
I'm having trouble using my hotmail account on Evolution. It used to work just fine but I when I opened Evolution today the following error ocurred: Could not login on server POP3 pop3.live.com. Error when sending username: -ERR command not expected now It then asks me to put my hotmail password... which I do and the same error appears again. Can someone tell me what's going on?

I have been syncing files to ubuntu one without any problems for some time. I can't get my evolution contacts to sync. When I try to copy my addressbook to ubuntu one I get message "error adding contact". I can't get rid of this message - only way is to force quit. I'm running Maverick, and I did a clean re-install to try to get rid of problem - didn't work. Currently when I open the ubuntu one addressbook, there are three blank entries which can't be deleted or edited.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOK, here is the test code I am using: rsync -acrv /home/randy/Documents /media/USB2/testbackup. What should I put in the code so that when I delete something in the Documents folder, it will also be deleted in the testbackup folder when I perform a sync.
How can I have it so the code will check if USB2 is available, if it is, do the sync, if not, do nothing.
have Evolution syncing with Palm Treo except for the Tasks. In a previous installation Memos didn't sync. I have set the EToDo, EMemos, ECalendar and EAddress conduits to Copy from PDA, yet no data appears in Evolution. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if I set the /home/user/.evolution folder to synchronise with ubuntu one on my eee, and then when I update the desktop remove the /.evolution folder and replace it with the one synchronised with ubuntu one would all my setting and messages be copied as well or not? And no I can use Imap as I use that dreaded thing known as hotmail! My desktop is running 8.04 but is due an upgrade soon so I can test my idea out!

A second hard drive in the Main Computer & an external hard drive both act solely as backups for my Home folder. My problem is this; Every time I save/download/change a file, I have to copy it to 4 other hard drive's. It's kind of annoying.Can anyone suggest some ways for me to save some time with this? It's a wired network with static ip's. All 3 computers are pretty much turned on 24/7.I'm open to middle-of-the-night scheduled type of thing or whatever.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Lucid and went to Ubuntu One from Me menu, clicked manage account, did not get a message to add the computer. After reading a few threads I deleted two Ubuntu One password tokens from the password and encryption keys in applications-accessories. I have not yet been able to get the Ubuntu One contacts in Evolution to work. It always says the address book does not exist. Additionally when I try to sync a file it says 'syncing' but just sits there on 0% doing nothing.
I have tried a fresh install and still have the same problems (I deleted the passwords again to allow me to add the computer). I have tried purging ubuntuone* and reinstalling after deleting the config directories, still no luck. I have tried adding another email address to the single sign on and tried logging in but again this did not work.
I do have another PC I am using now that can connect to Ubuntu One on a different user name and account (in other words nothing to do with the other computer), and I have noticed there is a password entry marked 'desktop couch user authentication' which I do not have on the other computer.
The issue I am having is that I cannot sync my Yahoo calendar using CalDAV in Evolution. The problem is that the link to the Yahoo CalDAV calendar is [URL], and in Evolution, it keeps inserting 'caldav://' at the beginning of the link when you click OK when setting up the calendar.

So on Monday folder B is forced to match folder A, Tuesday C forced to equal D ... and on Sunday a whole bunch of these clonings happen. This must all run unattended (at 2am) and be robust with no "what do you want to do next messages" or having the whole thing give up if there is a problem with one file. Though I do need a log of success or failure. Windows programs that do this stuff are FolderClone and GoodSync. I looked at Unison and Rsync and one or two others, but none appeared set up to do what I need, or to be excessively complex / general. 1. Overview
Open source tools are available to sync a BlackBerry with Evolution but it appears these tools are not supported by Fedora 10. The main thing that seems to be missing is the Barry plugin for OpenSync. Maybe the reason that this package has not been created is that Barry requires OpenSync version 0.22, whereas F10 ships OpenSync version 0.36. This HOWTO explains how to build all of the required components from source code. If the required package becomes available, this HOWTO would then be redundant.
This entire build and installation is performed in the home directory of a non-root user to ensure that no system files are broken. Some of the commands in this HOWTO must be run as root, when this is the case it is stated explicitly and otherwise the commands in this document should be run under a non-root account. The username for the examples below is erik.
2. Be a Developer
When you install F10 you are prompted to specify the uses to which your computer will be put. Hopefully you selected software development, if not your machine will probably be missing many of the utilities required for this HOWTO.
3. Initialize Evolution
Open Evolution and click on all of the buttons at the left to ensure that the necessary databases are created.

I have been using windows xp and microsoft outlook, mainly for the reason that Microsoft ActiveSync on my smartphone can only work with outlook. Now that I have diverted to Ubuntu, I'm wondering if there is any way to sync my smartphone calendar, to-do task list, and contacts, etc, with evolution under Ubuntu?
