I'm having issues with adding radio stations on Rhythmbox. The default radio stations also somehow disappeared.

I am using Rhythmbox to listen to radio stations - I would like to import a lot of stations into it without having to go through a huge list adding individually. a good free Virtualization Software Package that work on OpenSuse with the KDE Desktop

i'm getting no audio from online streaming like radio stations etc. videos such as videos and the like seem to be fine though. i presume i'm missing some package which is in synaptic.

I just installed OpenSuse 11.2 KDE on my Macbook and try as I might, I cannot get used to Amarok. I like Banshee and it's simple interface, plus the way it handles radio stations and the like.
I did install it using YaST and I am able to run it, but I am unable to add internet radio stations and also I am unable to play them (and other MP3 files) if I manually connect to the stream. As far as adding radio stations, I am unable to because the Genre box stays grayed out and the Save button stays grayed out because the Genre box has not been filled in (but I can't because it's grayed out). As far as playing MP3s, Banshee says I need a codec and when i click 'Search' for a suitable codec, it takes me to an OpenSuse download page with the decoder there but it's for OpenSuse 10.3, not 11.2.
These are probably simple problems with simple solutions but I can't seem to figure them out. Also, K3B says the MP3 Decoder is missing as well. I'm sure it is related to the Banshee problem too.
Is there an Ubuntu program that gives access to Internet radio stations like iTunes?
iTunes radio setting on Mac has hundreds or thousands of internet radio stations that the user can select from and listen to. Is there such an app for Ubuntu? That would be easier than finding all their web sites and bookmarking them.

Apparently they changed their format late last year, and the radio (using Frontier Silicon Wi-Fi Radio Portal - Member Login) can no longer play the streams ("Network error" message). I thought I would try manually setting something up, but it is not easy trying to find what the actual streams are, when everything is playing in the iPlayer.
Is there a Suse/Linux app that can identify streams coming in, when being played in iPlayer..

How does a person determine the URL of the audio stream for a Live365 broadcast in order to create a new radio station entry in Rhythmbox? I would like to be able to access and listen to the audio stream completely from within Rhythmbox.
I'm having an issue with rhythmbox in Lucid. I can add and play new radio stations fine. However, upon closing rhythmbox and reopening the radio station disappears from the list. Is there a way to get the stations I add to stay?

Radio stations that worked only days ago stopped responding, giving an error message that the location was not found.
Does this have anything to do with gstreamer maybe?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if any in the Ubuntu community owns a Carmen Car Radio player by Livio Radio. The program to save internet radio to the device is written in Java, however I am not able to run it either using WINE or using Open JDK.
The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.
I have a new install of Karmic on my system with a flyvideo 3000 tv card installed. My problem is that it doesn't find any radio channels and the input channel is completely wrong. I don't have any sound on gnomeradio and can't find the config files to change the input channel. The only input option available to me is dig1 - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have already read the Howto for this tv card and changed the device to radio0 in the setup. I have setup tvtime perfectly with sound channel as well as with a 5.1 surround configuration. I am missing my favourite radio channel. and I want to get rid of my windows installations once and for all! Update: I did a system update and some things have changed: the radio tower graphic on gnomeradio is now green (I assume it is getting a signal) but no sound yet.

I can't believe that there seems to be no way for me to record my shows from my radio. Works fine when I boot into the Mac side and even when I use Ubuntu using VMware Fusion. we were watching Clint Eastwood in Pink Cadillac on DVD. Earlier, I had been checking out the streaming internet radio on my roommates Mint laptop using Rhythmbox, and found it to be pretty cool. Usually, if I stream any music, it's just from the CBC (like the U.S.'s NPR), so I just stream it directly from them, but all the stations on rhythmbox (there's a whack of them) got me interested. At the start of Pink Cadillac, I proposed myself a challenge: Could I manage to get rhythmbox (a GNOME application) to work on my Slack64 -current box, before the movie ended? There's probably (maybe?) a similar app that installs and works more natively on Slack, but that's not the point; I wanted to try installing rhythmbox in < 2 hrs. Well, I got it installed finally, *just* at the end of the movie credits, but it won't play! And sometimes it segfaults. So, I wonder if anyone has any tips about what I might be missing or whatever.

Seems even on systems with some sort of 'natural' support for installing this thing, a lot of people are getting the same or very similar errors, but I haven't found a solution (obviously - I wouldn't be posting otherwise ) but people, myself included, have discovered that there doesn't seem to be a 100% accurate list of *required* dependencies for rhythmbox; it needs stuff that it doesn't tell you it needs.
EDIT: Disclaimer (just to cut the 'dependency-hell' arguments off at the pass, so to speak): This is just a fun experiment for me. I don't suggest Slackware newbies start trying to install <xyz Gnome application> into their Slackware boxes unless you want to spend HOURS fixing stuff like this, and you want to have fun doing it, and have it maybe bork your box up. And if you *do* decide to try it anyways, don't blame Slackware for giving you dependency hell. Gnome doesn't come with Slackware (here's the ChangeLog). I like Slackware exactly the way it is - it comes with more than enough apps to satisfy most people, all nicely working out of the box, so installing stuff like this is not really necessary - but I'm choosing to do this one anyway, and am not deterred by this "mess" of stuff.If this dependency stuff isn't your 'cup of tea', an 'automatically-dependency-resolving' distro might be better for you; I prefer to mess my machine up on my own, rather than let my package manager do it for me.
