Ubuntu :: Script To Copy New Podcast To MP3 Player?

Nov 22, 2010

I would like to copy any new podcasts to my MP3 player from my Gpodder downloads. I would also like to delete any ones that are 3 days or older on both player and pc.

My player auto mounts as /media/COWON
and
the podcasts are in the directory AAPodcasts
so it is -
/media/COWON/AAPodcasts

On my pc they are in -
/home/lone/gpodder-downloads/LinuxOutlaws
/home/lone/gpodder-downloads/Twit
and so on and so on
Is there some script I could use?

Ubuntu :: Podcast Fetcher/copy Script?

Mar 1, 2011

I know this is probably not the best place to ask, but I don't really know where else to go.I'm looking for a lightweight program that can run in the background all the time, and automatically download new podcasts from rss links I give it. Then when a certain device is plugged in USB, the program will automatically copy all the new files to a specific directory on that device. What I really don't want is to eithera) have to screw with this once setup the first timeb) mess with anything like a media player program: I want something lightweight and out of sight.

When I was in Win XP I was happy with iTunes; now in OSuse 11.2 it has been difficult to find a functional replacement for it. Banshee donwloads my video and audio podcasts but can't replay them within the program. I have to go manually (Dolphin) to the corresponding folders and replay them using mPlayer, which is not very handy / fiendly. I tried to install Miro, and so far has not worked (see post here)

Ubuntu :: Can't Copy Files To Mp3 Player

Mar 17, 2010

I have a Emerson MP3 player its a real cheap piece of garbage but I got it for free so whatever. I want to use it for audio books. when I plug it in and try to copy files to it it says I dont have permission its read only access. Trying to change the permissions does not work no matter what I try. I ended up finding out it is formatted as a msdos partition, which from what I read at another web site may be fat16. Dont know for sure about that though, just know it says msdos partition type. how I can change permissions to this so I can put my audio files on it?

Not looking forward to manually transferring them over and arranging them on the mounted drive the phone creates.

Also not an option to download podcasts straight to the phone what with the plan I'm on

Ubuntu Installation :: No Sound On Dloaded Podcast Or Stream

Apr 21, 2010

I grabbed Amarok off Synaptic since it's the only full featured media player I could find with OPML import, audio and video podcasting, etc. (Sorry, audio-only Rhythmbox - any other suggestions? I want to sync podcasts to my iPod classic as well, and cut the ties to Win 7)Anyways on Amarok I was able to successfully import my 20+ podcast feeds in a couple of clicks with the OPML import, and I then downloaded a test audio podcast.

On trying to play this podcast, however, the progress bar just shot across the screen, no audio was produced, and the podcast ended right away.I tried playing a radio stream as well from the Internet/Radio feature and no audio there either. It definitely was not muted.

Is this an Ubuntu problem? Something with this 'GStreamer' thingy? - I don't know what that is, but I need to pretend I know something about this here fancy Ubuntu jargon. Amarok played a test .ogg I recorded using Sound Recorder but that's all I've gotten to work so far.And if this is worth reporting as a bug, could someone please let me know what additional logs or info I should submit to launchpad. (Since there's no crash, there's no automatic submit popup.)

I have looked at several Podcast retrieving applications. However, none I have found so far do anything good with the Podcast information.

Almost every podcast contains tags that could be populated into metadata tags, it would seem, fairly easily. Having a podcast grabber that did so would certainly simplify using them on my iPod.

I used ID3v2, ID3, ID3tool and blah, blah, blah! but all of them have a big hug list of know genres except the Podcast genre. And you can not choose a genre which is not in their list.
All I want is an ID3 tool to set the genre field of a MP3 file to exact word I want.

Ubuntu :: XMMS2 Player Installed But Can Only Get CLI Interface Not The GUI Player !

Mar 25, 2010

I'm trying to get my XMMS Player to work. I've been reading the linux bible and it has a whole section just on xmms player management. when I typed in xmms in the terminal i get :

So i went to synaptic package manager and installed xmms but all I found was xmms2 I guess its the newer version. I ended up installing it, but now when I type in xmms2 in the terminal (because if i type in xmms i get the same output as above), it brings me to a bunch of cli commands used for using xmms in the terminal. How do I get the "winamp" type GUI interface with xmms2, I tried looking for it in my applications menu (even under sound and video) and its nowhere to be found. I just wanna enjoy the player with its normal graphical tool not through the command prompt (which seems like the only choice right now).

I tried installing xmms through the terminal like this:

And get this:

And as I said before there's no xmms installer in synaptic only xmms2 (which I installed and got the CLI not the GUI version). I'm using Ubuntu Karmic Koala.
