View 2 RepliesSet ID3 genre field to podcast?
View 2 RepliesI've downloaded some podcast files and I wonder how to set the genre field of their ID3 to "Podcast"? so that my phone can detect them as podcasts and play them in its media player.
I used ID3v2, ID3, ID3tool and blah, blah, blah! but all of them have a big hug list of know genres except the Podcast genre. And you can not choose a genre which is not in their list.
All I want is an ID3 tool to set the genre field of a MP3 file to exact word I want.
I'm trying to figure out how to change information on audio files. On Rhythmbox, for example, the genre or artist information might be incorrect, or unknown. Thus far i can't find a way to change this info.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen subscribing to new feed, rhythmbox downloads new episodes as it should. when restarting rhythmbox, the program does not download new episodes any more. only thing that works is deleting feed and re-installing.In Launchpad this is known as Bug #377189 There is also written that:"This bug was fixed in the package rhythmbox - 0.12.7-0ubuntu8"nksHow to Get and Install this Package?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know Rhythmbox support Podcast, But I was wondering if there is any tool for Rhythmbox that would allow you Find, subscribe, and download audio podcasts from a podcast directory. that would save me from having to enter the urls. I think Amarok does that but I dont use the KDE desktop

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a very colorful morning learning the innerparts of Linux's sort command, and have come across yet another issue that I can't seem to find an answer for in the documentation. I'm currently using -t, to indicate that my fields are split by the comma character, but I'm finding that in some of my files, the comma is used (between double-quotes) within values:
Jonathan Sampson,,foo@bar.com,0987654321
"Foobar CEO,","CEO,",ceo@foobar.com,,
How can I use a comma to terminate my fields, but ignore the occurences of it within values? Is this fairly simple, or do I need to re-export all of my data using a more-foreign field-terminator? (Unfortunately, I do not have any control over declaring a different terminator with this particular project).
On 10.4 with rhtyhmbox and iPhone 3G. Phone is recognized, music and photos found, but there is no podcast folder.Do I need a plugin - or maybe another app?

How would you pattern match and include 2 additional fields above field $9 but change field position from line to line?
When I was in Win XP I was happy with iTunes; now in OSuse 11.2 it has been difficult to find a functional replacement for it. Banshee donwloads my video and audio podcasts but can't replay them within the program. I have to go manually (Dolphin) to the corresponding folders and replay them using mPlayer, which is not very handy / fiendly. I tried to install Miro, and so far has not worked (see post here)

I am creating a game with random variables. In the game I have created a dialogue exchange to players. I have set up a table with various returns and I inserted {$fields} to represent various random variables. When I call on the requested fields, I only see the field text and my field names. Am I supposed to parse something and call it back another way?
ie: myfield is: "You have won {$random1} silver! <br />{$wi['gender'] majesty rewards you well." the code I am using to call that field is:

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm currently switching from Mac OS X to Linux (Fedora 15). I've now moved my music library (about 40 GB), mostly in AAC (*.m4a) format. Since I didn't find a way to adjust the volume of these files using MP3Gain (although I read that it should work with AACs, it didn't), I've decided to just convert all files to MP3 using faad and lame. So far so good. (BTW: I've already converted them, so I don't need any help with AAC/MP3Gain...)
The problem: Lame ereases all the tags. I found a way to preserve at least the most important tags (title, artist, album, track number and year) using exiftool to extract them from the AAC files and id3tag to write them to the new MP3 files.. I'm loosing the album artist, but I have not many compilations, so that's not a real problem.
The real problem are the genre tags. My songs are all carefully tagged with custom genres, and I didn't find any way to write custom genres to MP3 files, only the predefined ones. So I just copied the genres into the comment tag to at least preserve them because I wanted to start the conversion process (which takes really, really long on my 3 years old MacBook).
Does anyone know a way to copy the custom genre from the comment tag (it's the only entry) to the genre tag? A way to write it to the MP3 is enogh, I already know how to copy it from the comment tag. The writing is my problem.
i have a file : file.dat with following data
Code:
STORAGE PERCENTAGE FLAG:
/storage_01 64% 0
/storage_02 17% 1
/storage_03 10% 0
/storage_04 50% 1
I need to get the value of PERCENTAGE in a variable for a value of storage passed as variable i have tried the following without success like :
Code:
percentage='awk -vx="$defaultStorage" '{FS=OFS=" "}$1==x{print $2}1' file.dat
I used MusicBrainz Picard to tag FLAC and Mp3 files, fixed any necessary genre tags in Rhythmbox, and used EasyTag to rename the actual files. But now I'm interested in using those genre tags as folder names...is there any program that will sort my music into folders based on their genre tags?
View 5 Replies View Relatedjust bought a HTC legend. and my last phone was the iPhone 3g, used to iTunes just downloading the podcasts then syncing them.
Is there a Ubuntu program that can not only download podcasts but sync with an android phone? then arrange the playlist from ubunutu side.
Not looking forward to manually transferring them over and arranging them on the mounted drive the phone creates.
Also not an option to download podcasts straight to the phone what with the plan I'm on
I would like to copy any new podcasts to my MP3 player from my Gpodder downloads. I would also like to delete any ones that are 3 days or older on both player and pc.
My player auto mounts as /media/COWON
and
the podcasts are in the directory AAPodcasts
so it is -
/media/COWON/AAPodcasts
On my pc they are in -
/home/lone/gpodder-downloads/LinuxOutlaws
/home/lone/gpodder-downloads/Twit
and so on and so on
Is there some script I could use?
I know this is probably not the best place to ask, but I don't really know where else to go.I'm looking for a lightweight program that can run in the background all the time, and automatically download new podcasts from rss links I give it. Then when a certain device is plugged in USB, the program will automatically copy all the new files to a specific directory on that device. What I really don't want is to eithera) have to screw with this once setup the first timeb) mess with anything like a media player program: I want something lightweight and out of sight.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI grabbed Amarok off Synaptic since it's the only full featured media player I could find with OPML import, audio and video podcasting, etc. (Sorry, audio-only Rhythmbox - any other suggestions? I want to sync podcasts to my iPod classic as well, and cut the ties to Win 7)Anyways on Amarok I was able to successfully import my 20+ podcast feeds in a couple of clicks with the OPML import, and I then downloaded a test audio podcast.
On trying to play this podcast, however, the progress bar just shot across the screen, no audio was produced, and the podcast ended right away.I tried playing a radio stream as well from the Internet/Radio feature and no audio there either. It definitely was not muted.
Is this an Ubuntu problem? Something with this 'GStreamer' thingy? - I don't know what that is, but I need to pretend I know something about this here fancy Ubuntu jargon. Amarok played a test .ogg I recorded using Sound Recorder but that's all I've gotten to work so far.And if this is worth reporting as a bug, could someone please let me know what additional logs or info I should submit to launchpad. (Since there's no crash, there's no automatic submit popup.)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have looked at several Podcast retrieving applications. However, none I have found so far do anything good with the Podcast information.
Almost every podcast contains tags that could be populated into metadata tags, it would seem, fairly easily. Having a podcast grabber that did so would certainly simplify using them on my iPod.
Played with rythmbox and banshee. Banshee lacks basic features that are necessary, and thythmbox is VERY unstable. Cannot finish playing a song, much less a podcast. Any recommendations? Was looking at Amorok and Exaile. What others are there?

I am stuck with an error for too long. I have defined two structures (one for Symbol Table and another for Syntax Tree).

I tried to define the structure definitions in a separate header file and included in .y file but it didn't work out.
I'm trying to get this done ASAP.
