Running 10.10 64bit
I tried installing the latest Mupen64Plus from source, and something went wrong, and now I get errors when trying to run it. How do I remove the link that was created from the source install?

I would like to know if I can delete all of my files and remove all programs from my ubuntu laptop, like a clean install but without having to install the drivers and going through the installation
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Ubuntu Maverick and I wanted to try the xubuntu desktop environment, so I installed xubuntu-desktop package from synaptic package manager. There were many programs automatically installed with the xubuntu-desktop.After trying the xubuntu desktop, I didn't like it and removed it from synaptic package manager but it didn't remove the programs which were automatically installed with it.Is there any way to remove those programs without having to remove them one by one?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIm trying to install mupen64plus, but to be honest, everything i have installed is from the package manager.I have no idea how to do this through the terminal. But I tried installing the mupen64plus from the package manager, and everytime I open a rom, mupen64plus closes and doesnt load anything....
That version was 1.5, and I downloaded 1.99.3 or whatever it is from the mupen site, but I cant get the sucker to install. There is a install.sh file which I chmod +x too. I then tried, ,/install.sh, make install.
I'd like use a livecd of ArcheOS to install some applications into my Kubuntu 11.04 system. Is this possible?

Why is it so hard for the developer to compile the package or to make that .deb or .rpm package? I'm sure it's easier for the developer to compile his own program than for a linux user... i don't get this.. why does everything come in source code?

When I wanted to uninstall, I type "make uninstall" on the directory source, and it uninstalled the program.
But today, I have installed a program which i want uninstall.
I type "make uninstall" and i get this:

How can I uninstall the program?
Where do I find the linux-source package and the linux-headers package? Are they on the CD that I can copy to /usr/src (is that the right place...)? Or do I need to download them from the old-releases.ubuntu.com site?
The issue now is that the nVidia installer from their website wants the source code to build the right packages for this machine, however, I do not have the src directory with the source code that it is looking for. Is there some way to give this too it now?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI don't like KDE's program (like Amarok or Vlc or kaffein and any KDE's program) cus i think KDE's programs are mane argument to slow down speed of my ubuntu.
I'd rather a absolute gnome's environment without any KDE efficacious.
I'd rather to remove all KDE's program from my source.list if possible.
i use ubuntu with gnome environment but i installed kde to try it , i find not interesting , i want to remove kde , i try to remove kde but not success , i want to remove it WIT his program ,OR What the best way to remove kde environment full with his program.

I figure a good way to verify whether what I'm doing is right or not would be to find some source code of more established programs and see how they do it.My question then is, where can I find this code on my Mac? I'm unable to change startup programs. If I try and add or remove a program, any changes I have made seem to undo themselves. I suspect it might have something to do with being unable to save the session, but I really don't have a clue.
Just in case it makes a difference: I'm actually running Mint (Helena).
I am using ubuntu 10.4 and cannot find add/remove programs in applications at all, it just isn't listed there. Is there anyway for me to download it. I've looked in software centre and cannot see it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a new Fedora user and I having difficulty with the product.I downloaded both the live cd and dvd of F13. I installed F13 from the live cd and after it completed I created my user name and then rebooted. Once I logged in I went to Administration -> add/remove program. I then clicked on package collections and ticked off the ones that I wanted. I then clicked on the APPLY button and I noticed that in the lower left corner of the screen (below the left panel and just above the Help button) it said Running and then nothing. If I attempt to close the screen it says that all selections will be lost. I also went back and set the filter to list "all installed" and the programs that I had selected were in the list.I then decided to try the dvd iso, so I blew everything away and installed F13 from there, but I encountered the same thing.So I'm at a loss what I'm doing incorrectly

I want to make a live CD with some programs installed i know i can do that by chroot ,etc. but i cannot re-download all packages again due to bandwidth limit. The packages i want to have on my live CD are already installed on my OS.(i usually clear the cache after installation to save disk space). Is there a way to transfer the programs to the live CD.
ps. all the programs are installed either by deb's or apt-get, none by source...
How do check the programs that the actual user of the computer installed. I do not care at all about the default programs that came with your distro of Linux, I only want the user installed programs.
