Ubuntu :: OCS Inventory Login Error - MySQL ?

I have been trying to set up GLPI with OCS inventory but am having issues installing OCS. I have been following the below directions and when i go to [url] the login page gives me an error.

Something that may be effecting this would be the following step (below high lighted in red)i do not do as i do not see this line when installing. I am installing 1.3.1 not 1.0 like the guide was written for, which i think is what is causing me not to see this step.
This install procedure was meant for Debian Etch but should work for Ubuntu. Just add sudo to the beginning of all the commands. Or you can login as root and run them by typing:

I am adding inventory control to our online store here at work and I'm not sure of the best approach.Let's say Customer A and Customer B are both looking at the product page for Product X at the same time, and there is only 1 left in stock. What should happen if both click "add to cart" at (more or less) the same time?hould the last Product X get put "on hold" for one of the customers, and then decremented once the sale is complete? Or should the database decrement the product count, and then increment it if the sale doesn't go through successfully?Is it still possible for both to add it to their cart? Are there any mysql features I can use to ensure both cannot purchase the last product?

I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

I have installed Mysql in Ubuntu 9, for the use of roundcube database.After installing iam getting the error like this
* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Checking for corrupt, not cleanly closed and upgrade needing tables.
So because of this in the roundcube configuration its giving the error message that MYSQL is not installed. So Kindly give me a idea how to solve this.

I've downloaded and installed MySQL-client-5.1.53-1.glibc23.x86_64.rpm. I'm rather new to linux so it might be I haven't started the server. Unfortunately I have no idea which file is responsible for that. It is also possible that my head isn't functioning correctly ( if at all ).
Error I receive is:

I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-
Error: Package: mysql-server-5.1.55-1.fc14.i686 (@updates)
Requires: mysql(x86-32) = 5.1.55-1.fc14

is there an easy way for me to get the hardware specs of a linux machine, such as number and type of processors, RAM, BIOS version, # of power supplies, etc from a command line?
I'm dealing with Dell servers, but even if i can just get number and type of processors and RAM config, that'd be great. I know how to easily do it in Windows, no clue on Linux.

I'm having problems with a mysql install on a ubuntu server edition.
I forgot the mysql root password(or maybe it's always been screwy), so I attempted to reset the root password using this:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0
However this did not work.
So I decided to run

sudo apt-get purge mysql-server-5.0 && sudo apt-get install mysql-server-5.0
And re-entered the root password and again I still can't login!
This is the error I keep getting.

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
Is there any further steps I can do to wipe this crappy mysql install?

I'm trying to create a Virtual Machine in VMWare Server for Linux. I'm at the part where it asks for an ISO image. The inventory is empty. I don't know what directory this actually corresponds to on my Linux system. I tried moving the .iso to my home directory but VMWare still does not see it.

I wrote a code in C to connect to MySQL by using mysql_real_connect function but I recieved error "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)" (by using mysql_error function).
I also did the following things: in mysql I typed 'SHOW VARIABLES LIKE '%SOCKET%'', it returned /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock I typed 'mysql_config --socket' in shell, it returned /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock I modified /etc/my.cnf file

I upgraded a system from 10.3 to 11.4 and I get the following error when trying to run mysql:
Will update MySQL now, if you encounter any problems, please read following file:
/usr/share/doc/packages/mysql-community-server/README.SuSE
Log files inconsistency, please merge following files manually:
/var/lib/mysql/mysqld.log
/var/log/mysqld.log
How can I correct this? Mysql will not start so I can not run any of the utilities.

I am facing some strange problem of mysql replication with ssl, my replications which working fine from more than 6 months currently stopped working after i upgrade mysql in to newver version mysql-5.1.41-2, i create new ssl self singed certs but still no sucess, when client try to connect the master using ssl its gives error SSL connection error ERROR 2026 (HY000), with out ssl its working f9.
Platform --> Fedora-11 + mysql-5.1.41-2 (both master/client)
I can seeking the problem on net, and i found the below bugzilla url related to that.

I read it but not get , either new version support x509 ssl certs or not or either new version support ssl replication or not, here below my server configuration for ssl serts
And for client
Both server and clients certs are signed with same ca but still its currently not working after the mysql upgrade first 5.1.41 and then 5.1.41-2
Either as above bugzilla url, currently mysql support ssl replication or not, or either some need to do special for working with ssl. or i wait for newver version of mysql to fix if its bug or not.

I have so far: installed and configured postfix, installed courier, installed MySQL and SASL. mostly following a guide on [URL]
When I want to login via POP3 with a user from the MySQL database, authentication fails.
The mail.log file contains the followiung error:
Nov 25 18:47:55 asmahan pop3d: Disconnected, ip=[::ffff:10.11.39.33]
Nov 25 18:48:05 asmahan pop3d: Connection, ip=[::ffff:10.11.39.33]
Nov 25 18:48:16 asmahan pop3d: LOGIN FAILED, user=john, ip=[::ffff:10.11.39.33]
The problem only occurs when I try to login via POP3. I can send emails via SMTP using the same account without any problems.

System was fine with :Ubuntu 9.04 (had also installed kde )then....I wanted to try some change to gdm so i downloaded gdm while building it , it asked "PAM" libraries to be installed so i installed PAM ... but ignored the instruction to reinstall SHADOW (library i guess..),Now :on booting system i get login menu but i am not able to login , it says some critical error occured
1) install new copy of UBUNTU and remove old
ps :1) i can log into system through live cd
2) i can use recovery mode boot and log into terminal as root(startx is not working from this terminal..

I have machine which manages all mail accounts and their traffic and as well mysql database and some more stuff. Theres also windows server where users are managed and they get their programs from over rdp. I have login screen on Linux machine. It says Debian GNU/Linux 5.0. And I have root password, but I know that I have to login first with simple user account after which I can access login as root. But where can I get simple user account info. I need to manage mailaccounts mainly there.

I cannot see what the problem is here. I have installed MySQL 5.1.36 via YaST on my openSUSE 11.2 (32-bit) system.I can log in as root. I can "create user MY_user identified by 'my_passwd';" and a new user is created. But I cannot log in to the database using that new user name. I keep getting the message:

Since I have never had the need to create one, the first time I encounterd it I asked myself: what is it?I was looking for MySql installation guidelines on mysql.com, when, reading them, I found this command:shell> useradd -r -g mysql mysql.Now, I read the man page of useradd looking for explanation about -r option, but I didn't found it useful.It just says that -r options creates a System account, but it doesn't say anything else.So my question is: what is a system account? Few lines under the command it says:"Because the user is required only for ownership purposes, not login purposes, the useradd command uses the -r option to create a user that does not have login permissions to your server host."What would be the benefits if mysql user has not login permission?

I've setup a CentOS apache web server, and loaded a site onto it. The site previously was functioning under windows xp (before I "stepped in") and wamp. What I did was copy the site in /var/www, reconfigure the httpd.conf (DocumentRoot /var/www/site, etc). Although when I try to open the webpage I get this error: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available.
