Ubuntu :: Dell E1505 Wireless - Lucid - Not Detecting An Active Unsecured Network

May 3, 2010

I took the plunge and made a clean install of 10.04 because it sounded cool (and it is, I like it!) and now I'm tied to a wall again I've gone through several of the broadcom wireless card tutorials on the forums and the only thing I've managed to get is a lit up wifi light. It's not detecting an active unsecured network several inches away, that has computers up and running on it... I'm perfectly willing to post more details as needed.

Ubuntu :: Not Detecting Wireless Card?

Jul 23, 2010

Decided to have a bit of a clean, and moved the computers out the way (unplugged and stuff) to hoover up and that around the floor, but not the inside of the computers.

Now ive put everything back together, my main pc with linux on doesn't detect the wireless card.

I turned it off, then checked the card hadnt been knocked out. It did appear to be, so i put it back in properly, and it still wont detect the card. (its basically a pcie card with an antenna sticking out the back).

Ubuntu Networking :: Not Detecting Any Wireless Networks?

Feb 27, 2011

First time ever switching from windows. Mainly doing this cause I though it would be fun to learn a new OS and see how it is.From watching a few videos it looked like all I have to do is click on the wifi logo at the top of the screen and I would get my router and a bunch of others (does this on windows) but when I click on it I dont get anything. I think it might be that im running this on a laptop. My wifi card is: Standard Dell Wireless 1501 802.11 g/nIts a new dell inspiron 5000 laptop i customized a little with more ram and a new video card.

Im guessing I will need to provide more info but as I said at the start Im new to this and not sure how or what info I would need to provide. Please just tell me how I can get any data you need and il get right on it. (I used Wubi to install this, went off without a hitch)

Ubuntu Networking :: Not Detecting Network With 9.04

Mar 11, 2010

I'm trying to get my friend's laptop(acer travelmate 2200) to connect to his wireless network. I just installed a new hard drive and installed a dual boot windows xp/ Ubuntu 9.04 setup.

His laptop still connects fine with the old hard drive with windows XP installed, so I know the hardware is working.

When I click on the network manager , however, I don't see anything. Normally , I'd just hit the network manager and I'd see the available connections , but on this laptop I'm not detecting any.

The only thing I can think of , is that Ubuntu doesn't have the proper drivers needed for the wireless card in the laptop. But I don't know how to go about checking this since whenever I've done this before it's always just worked automatically.

Debian :: USB Wireless Not Detecting Networks?

I just installed Lenny and I was getting settled in. The wireless didn't work, but I have this USB adapter and was going to use it as a stop-gap measure until I get the real wireless going, especially since I could use that connection for downloading, forum search, etc. However, the USB adapter isn't working either. It seems to detect the adapter itself, since the "appendage" that appears on the right-click menu appears, but there's no detected networks. I have Jaunty dual booting with Lenny, and I know both the network and the USB adapter are working, since I'm on the Ubuntu side using both right now

Ubuntu Networking :: Wired Network Card Not Detecting Lan Cables?

Dec 8, 2010

I have a 64 bit install of Ubuntu 10.04, I was surfing up to 11:30pm EST last night, shut down for the night, upon reboot am unable to connect to the internet or my local network. Ubuntu seems to think that I have no ethernet cables connected. My networking is controlled by my motherboard (Gigabyte P55A-UD4P) and the problem is not on my cable modems side. The modem has multiple wired jacks, all of them are unresponsive with my Ubuntu PC while my roommate can connect to all of them with his Windows 7 PC. Both network cables (the one connecting to his box and the one connecting to mine) are interchangeable: They both work on his and neither on mine, so there is no broken cable.I've followed the troubleshooting in other posts, here are some commonly requested diagnostics:

Ubuntu Servers :: 10.04 Dell Poweredge 2600 Server Locks Up At 94% On Detecting Network Hardware?

Oct 31, 2010

So basically what I am trying to do is install Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell Poweredge 2600 server. Right now I dont care wither I get the server version or the desktop version, I just need to get it on their. this is what I have run into. When installing the regular Ubuntu 10.04 desktop for 32bit, the server just locks up on the very first ubuntu install screen and the keyboard lights just start blinking non stop. When I use the server version, the server get to the Detecting Network Hardware and locks up at 94% and the keyboard will also start blinking nonstop. I have looked all over for an answer to this problem and have yet to find one. This guy figured out how to make it work but he never mentioned what version he was using. [URL]..

On this server I have 6 HDs, 5 of them are RAID 0 with 1 Hot Spare. I have also tried using the ubuntu-10.04.1-alternate-i386.iso.torrent and still had the same problem. I have spent the last 3 days searching all over google and the forum to an answer but had no luck.

Debian Installation :: Installing Stretch Stops At Detecting Network Devices

Oct 11, 2015

Installing stretch stops at detecting network devices. This is an attempt to install stretch over the top of Windows 10 on a Toshiba Radius 15 with 2 each USB2 ports and 2 each USB3 ports, and no RJ-45. Its wireless is based upon the Intel 7265. Just before the presentation of the wireless list, the system reports the need to install non-free:

iwlwifi-7265D-9
iwlwifi-7265D-10
iwlwifi-7265D-11
iwlwifi-7265D-12

and asks for media. Whether I respond yes or no, the driver selection screen comes up. [I have not been able to find those four specific files on the Internet. The network card screen comes up, I select the Intel recommended firmware iwlsifi, but the page just recreates itself and waits for a new selection. If I select either 'none' or 'not listed', the installation fails saying there is no network card.I have obtained from Intel their suggestion as of Aug 2015: iwlwifi-7265-ucode-25.30.14.0.tgz.I placed this on a USB stick in a subdirectory labeled 'firmware'. This was built from Windows 7 on a FAT32 file system.

There is also a Dynadock docking station that connects to the Toshiba via a USB3 cable. Besides video, USB,and audio, this has an Ethernet port. I have tried this connected to the laptop but it also requires a driver. I have placed that driver on the firmware directory of the USB also.

Are the four files listed above somehow inside the iwlwifi driver tgz?Is there a way to get the docking station drive to load so I can use its Ethernet port?

I have used Rufus to build the stretch USB from Windows. I do have a a Linux box I built with the same USB. I would use it but so far, I only have a command line on it and I have not figured out how to access debian.org to download the installation files nor how to put that on the stick.
