Ubuntu Networking :: Share Wifi Connection With A Macintosh?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 running Jaunty Jackalope. I have a good working wireless connection.
My daughter has a lot of iPod tunes stored on an old white chiclet Macintosh, which she needs to download to her iPod. Because the iPod is "corrupt" (meaning it was last connected to Windows!), we need to connect to internet.
Simplest way to do that would SEEM to be to plug an Ethernet cord between the two machines and let her Mac access internet via this Dell.
My experience with ethernet is, either it works out of the box, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, I have no idea how to make the connection work.
What do I have to do on BOTH the Jaunty and OSX sides to make the connection?

I want to share my internet connexion via ad-hoc WiFi. If it's unsecured, it works fine, but when I use WPA encryption, it doesn't work anymore! I can connect from my iPod touch, but no internet. I connect to the internet from my laptop, via eth0 I want to share my internet connection via wlan0 I have no idea what's wrong

I've been reading around, but not had much success at all in trying to share the internet connection from my laptop to my phone.all the articles i read refer to earlier versions of Ubuntu and the packages they mention have become obsolete, according to the apt-get tool.im not that new to Linux, but my networking probably isn't up to scratch.if anyone could help me, that would be great, im using Ubuntu 10.04 at the time of writing.

I have a pc which has 2 network cards, 1 wifi and 1 ethernet card.
I'm using wifi card to connect to wifi network (internet) and i'm planing to share this wifi/internet connection via ethernet to wireless router (siemens sx763) so i can have internet on my other devices, e.g. mobile phone, laptop.

I have two linux laptops. Currently, I'm using both of them at work, side-by-side. Now the problem is, I'm connected to a wireless router, but the wireless only works on one of the laptops. So I'm stuck with one laptop that has no access to the internet. Both machines do, however, have working ethernet nic cards. So, I was wondering if I could use the laptop with the wireless connection to share the internet connection with my other linux machine and access the internet on both of them. Or as an alternative, just use the internet on the machine without wireless and be able to switch back and forth, that would increase my productivity like 30 fold.

I have a laptop with Ubuntu 9.10. And I want to connect it to Internet using wifi. Also I have desktop with Ubuntu 9.10 (another desktop with Win XP, but for some day it will run under Ubuntu too ). I want one of this these desktops to share wifi with laptop. I think that a wifi adapter is a way to solve this problem. I found a D-Link dwa-110. i've read on forums that someone successfully installed drivers [URL]. Is there any other ways to share wifi with laptop (only 1 laptop needs to be shared with)? Had someone connected desktop with D-Link dwa-110 and laptop (as I want)? Both desktops connected to Internet via wire.

I tryed to get network work like this share internet from wifi (wlan0) to ethernet (eth0).So the internet connection comes from the wifi and we share to other computer via ethernet[URL]But when I restarted my pc then it dont work and network says "wired network device not managed" How can I get it work aigan ?[URL]Now I have anohter problem when I connect autoeth then the wireless network dosent work anymore, I have to disconnect eth0 to have wirelles network working. how can I manage to get the bowh to work?

I'm trying to connect two PCs to the Internet (or at least to create a local network) using a crossover cable. My main PC (the one that has two ethernet adapters and is connected to the Internet) runs Windows 7 and my secondary PC runs Ubuntu 10.04.Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Both systems send out packages but don't receive anything. How can I possibly fix this, so that I could use LAN and share the Internet connection between PCs? Does Windows need special software to recognize Ubuntu (or the other way around)?

I have a small wireless network running IPv6 connected though a 802.15.4 usb stick, and a network connection through eth1. I can access the nodes on the wireless network from my computer, but not from any other on the wired LAN. Also the nodes on the wireless cannot see even the address of eth1. I'm guessing i have to forward all packets from the wireless to eth1 in some way, but am unable to find an guides for this with IPv6.

I've just installed the ubuntu 9.10. I have one problem with it. I have a home net in configuration: Windows XP on a cable, Ubuntu on a cable and Windows on wifi. When I'm surfing on the net on Ubuntu, Wifi isn't work how it should. It's very slow and I don't know what to do with it. Windows XP on a cable is OK, it works good. I just recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a dell laptop. My WiFi connection that I've been using on the same computer for years is not working when I log on. However if I run the burnt image cd and choose the option "Use Ubuntu without making any changes to your computer" I am asked if I want install proprietary drivers. If I activate one "Broadcom STA" I can connect to the wireless connection in my house. When I am using the version installed on my laptop it doesn't ask me if I want to install the drivers and it doesn't even find them when I go to hardware drivers under system. So to sum it up I can get connection when I run Ubuntu from the cd but not when I run the Ubuntu on my laptop.

I just removed ubuntu-desktop in favor of kubuntu-desktop. Now I can't create an ad-hoc wifi connection however hard I tried from network-manager. It simply is not visible to other PCs. And when some connection is created on another ubuntu PC, I can't connect to it.. I switched NM off and tried the CLI way.

I'm brand new to Ubuntu, and Linux in general, and honestly don't know what I am doing. I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my external hard drive and am able to boot fine (other than an issue with my monitor falling asleep because my graphics card needs a different driver. I have a work around for this that i'm currently using but I would like to fix it permanently and thus need an internet connection.)
When trying to connect to the network in my home, I am unable to. I click on the WiFi symbol in the top right corner, and I can see my network. I then click it and a page comes up asking for the key. I put it in but it doesn't sync and usually after a minute or so it pops back up asking for the key again.What can I do to gain internet access? I'm unable to connect my computer via a hard wire Ethernet cord and need to sort out this WiFi issue.

I bought my MacBook Pro at the beginning of the school year when I went to college. I am now living in a dorm where I do not have access to wired internet connection, so I cannot just plug my computer in to download stuff. If need be I can of course borrow someone else's computer to download something and then just transfer it over with a flash drive.
Anyway, I have a virtually new MacBook Pro that I bought in August. Using refit I have dual-booted OS X and Ubuntu (obviously I am posting this from within OS X) but I cannot manage to get connected wirelessly to the internet. I have tried this many many times with many many distros and have never once been able to connect. I understand that there are various tutorials around but none of them seem to help me at all and I really want this to work. I've been looking around and trying things for about two days now. Can someone give me step by step instructions (or point me toward some simple ones) starting, if need be, from a fresh install as to how to get wifi working on my macbook pro? I am also completely willing to switch versions of Ubuntu if that would help.

I am using slackware and ip6tables so far. But the problem is that IPv6 or ip6tables has no "-t nat", so how could I just simply share Internet with the computers behind the firewall?

From the command shell, how do I get to a network connected drive?I do a "Connect to Server" -> "Windows share" and connect to one of my Windows XP systems. Everything is fine. But how do I get to that drive from the command line prompt so I can do terminal commands or open files programmatically (hmmm is that spelled right?) Thus far, I see no way to do it.

I seem to be having quite a big problem with Internet sharing. After doing a clean install of Lucid, I tried to set up a shared connection between my computer and my Roku set-top box. I have noticed that I am only able to set up a connection profile in Network Connections under the Ethernet card with the active Internet connection. That is, whenever I try to set up a connection, I am not given the option of using the second Ethernet card. Thus I can't share the network connection. Can someone PLEASE help me? The IRC has been completely useless.

This is what I did: in Network Connections I set the IPv4 Setting of my network card to shared with other computers, plugged in the network cable into both machines, and now they both see a connection.
