Ubuntu Networking :: Moblock Is Not Running & IPFilterX?

For the past couple of day I am unable to start moblock. I am getting :* moblock is not running* blockcontrol.wd is runningI searched the forums and found a reference to IPfilterX being the cause of this problem with IP addresses starting with leading zeros and moblock not liking this format. Despite how many different searches I made using forum and using google in general, I am unable to find anything to this ipfilterx as in either how to disable it or modify the format (if possible)Can someone direct me where to look. I am quite lost. I am not even sure if this is the source of my problems. When I start blockcontrol while watching the log with tail -f, I see no error messages but when I check the pid file, the PID in this file is not running immediately after start process completes.
Moblock is blocking my teamspeak server... only some of my friends cant connect so I assume their ISPs are in the blocklists... I've tried whitelisting TCP IN and OUT for 9987 which is the default port... but still no luck..
I have installed moblock, moblock-control and mobloquer from the AUR, however I am unable to start moblock. Mobloquer launches fine, and will update the blocklists fine. However, upon clicking "start" I receive the following;
Problematic Deamon status: 1 Moblock is not running* what do i do??? please help me i have tryed loging in as root and i maked it for compleat removal? then i reinstalled it but it still gives me the same error it was working until i changed my MAC on wlan0 when i go to MoBlock status: this is what it says

After installation I created my own list file in /etc/blockcontrol/custom-blocklist.p2p and have the following uncommented at the bottom of /etc/blockcontrol/blocklists.list:

Recently I just noticed that the locallist rules seem to have no effect. I will always get "destination port unreachable" even if the locallist entry in blocklists.list is commented out.
However, whenever I try to browse to that IP, even when blockcontrol is on, even by typing the IP into Konqueror (not the domain name), it lets me go there every time. How can I know that my other applications will not to do the same thing? How can I lock this down and test it empirically to be sure?
After some difficulty I got MoBlock and Mobloquer installed on my Ubuntu 10.10 live USB. Lists all updated perfectly, and I made sure that HTTP and FTP traffic are not allowed. All's going well, still it shows nothing under the "Logs" tab, and under the "Manage" tab, "Number of blocked connections: " is still 0. MoBlock is "up and running". Now I did some browsing as a test, cuz I'm pretty used to Peer Guardian on Windows, and I know that by now it should have blocked quite a lot of stuff. Should I have "No time stamping" checked, cuz in the "Blockcontrol log", whilst struggling to get it working, it said that "notimestamp" was a depreciated feature.. or some thing like that anyway. It still shows nothing under the "Logs" tab, and it shows "no blocked connections under the "Manage" tab still.
Hi. I have Ubuntu 10.04, nm-applet is running in the background, my battery icon and sound icon are showing but my network icon has been missing for the past 2 days. It was working fine before but now it's not. How can I fix this issue if I don't have an ethernet cord? Is there a way to roll back the recent updates or do I need to reinstall my network manager?
I've tried restarting the system and I've tried killing nm-applet and reloading it using Alt F2. I get some Debug error.
When I try to run nm-applet --sm-disable
It says an instance is already running and then gives me a warning.
I tried removing "iface eth0 inet dhcp" from /etc/network/interfaces and then tried restarting by "sudo /etc/initi.d/networking restart"

What can I do to connect to the internet? I have a flash stick if its possible to download a .deb package on this mac and transfer it over to my other laptop to fix the problem. If its possible.
I'm using version 10.04 of Ubuntu and for some reason, when I install a copy of Ubuntu or Ubuntu Server, I get a 'NetworkManager is not running' message in the notification bar where the network icon should be.What could be causing this? I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 on an Asus EEE 901. I am going to be running this as a mail server and web server (light usage!). As I will only be connecting in by SSH I want to be able to manage the network connections via the terminal/command line. I am using primarily the wired interface but want to have the wireless connected as well incase (WPA encryption). Am I missing something when I can not find config files for nm-applet? What's my best way of doing this?
I have two computers running Ubuntu. I want to run the copy of Firefox that is on the remote machine. i connect to the remote in the usual way, "ssh -X fermi", which brings up a console on the remote machine, fermi. When I type "firefox", however, it starts the copy of firefox that is on the local machine. On the remote machine, "ps aux|grep firefox" confirms that firefox is not running there. Is there a way to force execution of the remote copy?Or, can I start a local copy of firefox using the remote bookmarks, preferences, etc?
When the summer-holidays are a fact and it's time for some fun I will be upgrading my home network with a diskstation of some kind, and since all models I currently looks at supports 10/100/1000 M/Bit networking it got me thinking.
My desktop also supports 10/100/1000 M/Bit networking and since I already uses a 10/100 M/Bit switch between my desktop and (file)server, it would be very easy to buy a new switch that also supports 1000 M/Bit networking and then connect the diskstation to that switch as well. But the router the new switch will be connected to is only running 10/100 M/Bit so the question is, at what speed will the new switch be running?
my computer ran on windows now is duel boot runs fine with vista internet wise (wireless) but ubuntu is very slow just like a lo of people are saying but just now i thought i will hook it up wired to modem and it is not any faster at all very confused and dont know where to go or what to do
run a Hamachi client in a Windows virtualbox and be able to set it up (using network bridging, maybe?) like Hamachi was running in the host itself.
I'm most definitely not a networking expert, but I thought it would be worth a try to see if anyone had any ideas. Hamachi for linux is outdated and unstable.
Also, if this isn't possible and anyone has another cross-platform zero-config VPN solution as stable as Hamachi
Hi, So brand new to Ubuntu and linux for that matter. Can't seem to get my network card up and running I have tried the various fixes through the forums, as you can see in the screenshots. Just hoping an expert could help me out so I can finally close the box and get sleep. I have a ASUS M4A78T-E with phenom II. I downloaded ndiswrapper (1.9) and have wicd. The card is trendnet 643PI but it shows up as RealTek 8190.
I cannot understand why a NFS server is so hard to get running..i tried everything.. googled and searched the forums to find guides and HowTo's but none of the works all i want is the server sharing /media (and all subfolders)everyone with access to the server from my should be able to mount the shares and use have all permissions on the shares..Now when i try the above guide, i can mount the share on the client but the subfolders are empty.
I'm trying to get a dhcp server running on my laptop. I want devices to be able to connect to a wireless AP I've set up (using hostapd) to then connect to the rest of the internet via my ethernet connection from the laptop.
However, I can't get dhcp to work properly. It always fails, leaving this message in the syslog

I had network manager running on my netbook karma install, but when I installed VNC as another display, logged into that other display and accidentally clicked on not to run network manager on startup cause there is already one running, it screwed up the network manager auto startup on my normal netbook display.I tried adding it back into auto start in settings but that has not worked.As always, thanks for any help you can give me getting this to auto start again on login, without deleting my kde cache(cos it is setup the way I want it).
\How can i setup my computer (currently running Ubuntu 10.04 lts) into a router so that other laptop can have a wireless connection to it and be able to access the Internet?
I can't pick up any wireless signals while running Ubuntu 10.04, but while running Windows 7, I pick them up. I have the feeling it's because of a missing driver, could anyone help me solve this issue?
I've tried running Cheese over SSH to get a view of my flat but it's very jumpy.My upload speed at home isn't the best in the world, and Cheese seems to struggle. Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to view the cam, specifying low quality settings etc to at least get a steady picture.I know it wont be amazing, but Cheese is crashing. I tried Camorama, but it didn't pick up my webcam.
I bought a DELL Bluetooth Headset and paired with my laptop running Ubuntu 10.10. I can connect to Audio Sink service on my bluetooth headset and it works but I couldn't connect to Headset service on my bluetooth headset. Bluez daemon quits when I try to connect to Headset service. The same bluetooth headset works fine with my XP. I can connect to Audio Sink and HSP service in my XP.
I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 that I've been running 10.04 on forever. It has the BCM4309 wireless chipset in it, which worked great. BUT ONLY ON THAT PARTICULAR COPY OF 10.04. When I tried 10.10, Pinguy, Mint, and Fedora I couldn't get the wireless to work again. Finally, that got frustrating, so I reinstalled 10.04 LTS. I don't know if the kernal or the driver changed, but I can no longer get the wireless to work anymore.There's a lot of posts about this particular chipset, and they all seem incomplete. Basically, I am certain that I can get this to work. I just installed Pinguy again, which is 10.10.With the current set-up, my wifi card can see all the networks, but it can't connect. It constantly asks or my password and then connects for a brief second before losing the network again
In my college wireless ap have a login webpage that I must fill everytime i want to use internet.To automate the process i've written a bash script that do the login for me.I've found that scripts in the /etc/network/if-up.d directory should run after a connection is established, but the script isn't executed.This is the source of the script:
I am a bit new to this - Ubuntu is ok with a gui but I am struggling with commands and I think I may have disabled Network Manager. The icon is there in the notification area but when I try to connect it says NetworkManager is not running and when I rightclick the icon the "enable networking" box is greyed out. It is on a desktop which now has no net access so I have not tried to remove and reinstall network-manager.

If I try sudo dhclient eth0 I get Code: No DHCPOFFERS received No working leasaes in persistant database -sleeping I have tried rebooting my router to no avail. My other box is connecting fine.
