I cant seem to get my wireless driver working i did install ndiswrapper and i downloaded my driver and i installed it with ndiswrapper but it is still not working.
View 6 RepliesFor reasons I can't even begin to figure out, the number pad does NOT work.i can get the num lock light to come on, but pressing the keys there produces no love at all. Right before I installed F10, my F8 x64 had been working flawlessly for a VERY long time and I have been able to verify that the keypad still functions both with the M$ Windoze Vi$ta virus and a live Knoppix CD.Since this is the first time I have had this issue, I don't even know where to look to consider solving this.
I did try the System->Preferences->Hardware->Keyboard and all of the HP layouts listed there, but I still can't get anything more than the Num Lock light to come on and go out.
I've got a friend who, after experiencing the horrors of Vista and me telling of the wonders of Linux, decided to switch. However, her Wifi is not working. I typed in 'lspci -nn', and it seems that two things came up; a Broadcom BCM4401 and an Atheros AR2413. Does the computer have two Wifi cards? Which do I need the driver for, or both? Which brings me to my second question; where do I find and how do I install a driver?

So I installed my wireless driver via the graphical ndiswrapper (FYI my wireless adapter is a Proxim 8424-WD). It then said "Unable to see if hardware is present". After I exited out of that message, it said "Hardware:Present" (or something of that sort) next to the newly installed driver. I tried searching for wireless networks and found none. I'm guessing something didn't work right. I used this command "lshw -C network" and got the following result.

I have a HP Pavillion dv4 1313dx that has been running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 wonderfully, but I am getting nothing out of the microphone.
I am a VERY beginning user (All I really know how to do in terminal is copy/paste, cd, ls, and, chown) and if I can fix this easily, I'd love it.
I already know to check the sound preferences, and nothing is picked up on the microphone, but I think it's there.
It has been haunting me for weeks and I haven't been able to fix it so far: When I installed the wireless driver 43XX series on my laptop using a wired internet, I saw the wireless network for a while and after I rebooted my system, My kernel(31) got corrupted and I got error "kernel Panic (and some sync error)",Thus I started using an older kernel(14),Now When I install wireless driver or mobile broadband driver(wvdial), they get vanished after the reboot and my mobile device modem isn't detected.But they are installed in my system(as shown by synaptic package manager but doesn't seemt to work) I desperately want to use mobile broadband.

I'm running dual boot, Windows 7 and Zorin. The Windows Wifi side works fine. The install for Zorin (including updates, programs I selected from the repos, etc) worked fine, but now I can't connect to the net.It recognizes my router (Belkin), recognizes other networks (neighbors, school), and it says I'm connected but anything to do with the net (firefox, chrome, synaptic, etc) won't connect.Checking lspci, I get:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Rosewill RNX-N150pc wireless card that's been working great with Suse 11.2. But with 11.3, it's able to scan for my wireless network, and I see RX/TX packets moving, but DHCP isn't able to get an address. I've tried the 2010_0115_RT3562_RT3062_Linux_STA_V2.3.0.0 and 010_07_16_RT3062_Linux_STA_v2.4.0.0 drivers from the Rosewill site, and the rt3562sta-kmp-desktop-2.4.0.0_k2.6.34.0_12-1.1.i586.rpm package from Suse, all with the same result. I've even tried forcing an IP address on the interface with 'ifconfig', so my current guess is that the WPA-PSK security isn't working.

Everything was going fine. Once, I started my fedora 10 and I found out that no wireless driver is installed!!!
How can I check for this and fix this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to switch my laptop from XP to Ubuntu, but right now, i cant risk installing it. i dont want to have it partitioned so i can dual boot, so for now i only run the try-it-out mode.Before i consider installing though, i want to see if i can get everything to work ahead of time, that way im not regreting instalation. I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop, with 55GB hard drive and 516MB ram. So far, the trial mode is working great, but the wireless will not work. Ive tried to install the driver, but i am unable to do so. View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen originally installing 11.04 I had problems getting my Ralink 5390 wireless card to work.
Today my computer froze completely and I had to turn it off via the power switch. When I turned it back on, wireless was no longer recognized! My iPod can connect to the network just fine, so it must be an Ubuntu problem. There are no problems with my ethernet connection either.
I researched this and found several threads about blocking and unblocking wireless devices using the rfkill command. Well, unfortunately for me the rfkill command doesn't work. When I type sudo rfkill list or sudo rfkill unblock all, nothing happens; it just returns me to my bash prompt. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling rfkill...nothing.
For some reason, i just cannot get my wireless to work in xubuntu. When i click on the network-manager applet, it only has the wired network tab and VPN connections, there are NO wireless networks displayed. I have also tried iwconfig, which returned
lo no wireless extensions.

I've followed the steps in the stickied post and found the WLAN hardware info, a screenshot of which is below:Uploaded with ImageShack.usNext it says to do this - you need to look at the logs, in particular the info in /var/log/boot.msg. To see this, you need YaST => Miscellaneous => System Logs and select boot.msg.In YaST there is no such option for system logs under miscellaneous, so I can't do that. View 9 Replies View RelatedBasically today (1st of june) about 1.30pm my computer updated. I was on facebook at the time and was commenting on a post but didn't click "Send message". My computer went onto screensaver, So I unlocked my computer to find my keyboard wasn't working (But it was ok on the password lock). I then thought that restarting my computer might help the keyboard to work. I restarted my computer and as it turned on, my wireless icon had an exclamation mark next to it ("!") I clicked on the icon to find that only "Wired network" was only displayed, Before the restart "Wireless network" was there but it had disappeared. I've looked into it, and it looks like my wireless driver has been unistalled by the most recent update on Ubuntu. As far as I remember the wireless driver was Broadcom for a hp pavillion zd8000.

"You can enter top-level directory of driver and execute follwing command to Compile, Installation, or uninstall the driver:

as the majority of ubuntu 10.04 users I had problems with setting up wireless internet connection too. After reading many forum topics I somehow managed to set up the connection.Now the only problem is that when I restart computer wireless connection is no longer working.
