Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Locate The Icaclient In The Terminal?

Apr 2, 2010

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and am having trouble connecting to my company's server remotely, through Citrix (we are an online publishing firm and I need it to keep tabs on our story budget). Citrix receiver is installed and seems to be working, but an error message keeps popping up saying that a dial up problem or other issue is preventing the connection with the server. Also can't locate the icaclient in the terminal (per tech support's request).

I can't seem to locate it at all. I'm running on windows vista.

Networking :: Able To Connect But Unable To Locate Configs

Jul 22, 2010

I'm able to connect to the internet wirelessly with my laptop running kubuntu 10.04 with no additional packages installed. I'm able to setup my connection using the GUI but I'm unable to locate where the configs are stored on the computer.

I thought the configs were stored in /etc/interface but the file never changes. Even after I'm connected, all it shows is

I'm using wpa2 with my wireless router.

The reason I need this is because I'm planning on installing ubuntu server edition and there's no GUI for wireless setup.

Networking :: Unable To Locate Eth0 With Ifconfig In Fedora 12 ?

Apr 26, 2010

I've got a vmware install of Fedora 12 running as a server. This install has the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file configured with the proper info and the service has been restarted. When I run ifconfig I only get the loopback interface, when I run ifconfig -a I can get the eth0, but without the pre-configured ip address. When I enter ifconfig eth0 up I can activate the interface, but without the afore mentioned ip address. I need to be able to yum ssh, install it, and run it with rsa keys. Can do none of this without an interface obviously.

Networking :: VPN - Post Connection - Unable To Locate Files?

Aug 24, 2010

I used my colleges online site to automatically install and setup the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client. Everything went smoothly. I have a Cisco icon in my system tray and it says that I am connected to the VPN.

My question then is where do I access the VPN? I am assuming that I can access the other computers at the other end of the VPN as I would if they were networked to me, however I cannot seem to find any information on how this is done after the connection is made.

I looked in the Network folder which is where I figured everything would be, but there is nothing other than the normal, empty, network folders.

I am running Linux Mint 9, KDE 4.4

My friend Google let me down, and every VPN how to I can find ends at the "connected" stage, never getting into details about where to go from there...

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Locate Printer Drivers In Network Printer Setup?

Oct 19, 2010

I am trying to set uamsung clx2160N as a standalone network printer on my home network. It is a printer with standalone network capability and is connected directly to my router and has a static IP number. We have a few Windows computers at home and they had no problem detecting the printer, installing the drivers and working. Unfortunately my Ubuntu computer recognises the printer and I can even access it's setup and diagnositcs through its IP number. However when I try to add it as a printer, drivers for it cannot be located. #ve tried setting it up three ways:1. Using Samsung's own setup package - finds printer and all the details it needs to work but offers no drivers2. Using Ubuntu's printer setup - recognises printer but stalls at Searching for Drivers dialog3. Trying to *** printer using CUPS - no problem finding and recognising printer, but when I come to search for the driver I get Internal Server Error.

I have of course been trying to do all of these as root. That's the limit of my knowledge reached and searches on the net aren't helping me either. The printer works fine directly connected via USB, so the drivers are on the computer somewhere. How do I get them set up to use the printer on the network?

Networking :: Networking Routing \ Use The Terminal To Assign Server Eth0 A Proper IP Address?

Jun 8, 2010

i know exactly what i need to do, im just not familiar enough with command line to do it properly.i have 7 computers.the first 4 are connected to a router via wireless at one end of the house. of the last 3 only 1 will be able to access the router via wireless, so it needs to share it's one wireless connection via ethernet. this computer i'm going to call 'server'server will have two IP'swlan0 192.168.1.6 this connects to the router that has internet access.eth0 i intend to have the following settingsip:192.168.0.1sub: 255.255.0eth0 will connect to a second router, where the cat5 cable goes from the server, into the internet port of the router where i will define the router's static IP:IP: 192.168.0.100sub: 255.255.255.0gateway 192.168.0.1i have then set the router IP for LAN handling as 192.168.27.1 and all ethernet connections will have a 192.168.27.x IP.

so i need to know how to, without a gui application, use the terminal to assign server eth0 a proper IP address, and tell the server to take the connection it has and share it through eth0 to supply internet for the last 2 computers via ethernet.i had it set up in this way with a windows machine being the one that had the wifi access, but i'd rather have it setup for the ubuntu server to do this task. security is imperative for these 3 remaining machines, so just getting 2 more wifi adapters for a connection to the initial router isn't an option.the 2 that connect to server do so through SSH and though server IS connected via wireless it only makes outward connections through

Ubuntu Networking :: No Internet When Static IP / DNS Set Via Terminal - Fix It?

Jan 11, 2010

I'm having an issue with a new install of 9.10. I've set the ip address in /etc/network/interfaces and I've also set DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf.

The issue I am having is that no address resolves, nor can I ping outside of my LAN. I've wanted to avoid using the GUI network setup because it hasn't been saving the information correctly. Here are how the files look code...

I don't know what eth1 is; I only have 1 ethernet connection in that machine, so I'm thinking it may have something to do with that. However if the machine is using eth1 (which has no address) than it follows that I shouldn't be able to locally ssh or vnc into it, right?

Ubuntu Networking :: SSH Can Only Connect If Logged In Through Terminal First

Mar 8, 2010

I am having a small issue with my SSH usage. I have a main PC OS 9.10 that has a wired connection to the wireless router. My EEEPC 904HD is a wireless connection to the same router.

I use my main PC as my music store and of a night I sometimes listen to this via my EEEPC using the 'connect to server' icon. This has been the norm for some time.

Now of late my connection is being refused. Initially I thought it was to do with the SSH file of trusted connections as from time to time I have had to delete this file as rebooting of the router may have altered the IP of my machine. This usually solves the problem.

But I now have to use terminal to

Code:
ssh 192.168.?.?

I then have to confirm the connection and use the password to confirm fully. After that I can then use the GUI to get into my main PC, by inputting the IP, port, folder, user name and password, as usual.

Am I missing something? Nothing has been changed by me to have caused this so far as I know. I also have 2 folders set to share via samba over the network which works perfectly these folders are accessible by others on my home network. I use SSH for myself to fully access my folders on my PC from the EEEPC.

Ubuntu Networking :: Thunar And Terminal Permissions Don't Match?

May 6, 2010

I just upgraded my laptop to Xubuntu 10.4. I have a nfs server I connected to with my old Xubuntu 9.10 set up. I loaded portmap and nfs-common then made a mount point. I chowned and chmodded the mount point in the terminal to my user name. But Thunar (the file manager for Xubuntu) won't let me open subdirectories. So I went back to the terminal and chowned and chmodded again with a -R. In the terminal I can read and write as user. Thunar (as user) says I don't have permissions to see the subfolders. When I start Thunar as root it assigns the permissions to my user name but not when I start Thunar as user. When I start it as user and browse to the folder and select properties it says the owner is root. What the frak? How do I get Thunar to see the permissions I set in terminal as sudo? Or better yet, how can I set the permissions for my mount point so that I can access and write to directories and files on my nfs share. I have no problems with my other computers with this server's shares.
