Ubuntu Networking :: Bcm4318 And 10.04 Lucid / B43 Module Working Instead Of Ndiswrapper?

Jun 17, 2010

I have a broadcom 4318 chipset for my wireless card, but after an upgrade to lucid my system was acting funny. I did a complete reinstall and all the issues are resolved except the wireless card. I would like to get the b43 module working instead of ndiswrapper. How can i do this right in lucid?

CentOS 5 Networking :: Configuring NDISwrapper For BCM4318 Wireless Card

Feb 16, 2010

I've search for info on configuring ndiswrapper for the BCM4318 Wireless card. All I've been able to find is information on Ubuntu and Debian, which don't seem to use the same methods for configuration. Has anyone configured ndiswrapper for this or any wireless card on CentOS 5? I've installed 5.4.

i've patched the source files to be installed on f14 and finally got a succesfull install, ndiswrapper -l comes back with driver installed and presentwhen i run modprobe ndiswrapper i get "FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found" after many hours of google searching and reading various threads i cannont seem to find a solution to this apart from manualy coping the ndiswrapper.ko file but when i use that solution modprobe starts ndiswrapper but there is no wlan0 present in iwconfig.now for some reason even wheni move the ndiswrapper.ko file manually it still is giving me that error. this worked earlier as i mentioned but then i reinstalled ndiswrapper hoping something went wrong but still got the same error so i tried that same fix and i'm still getting that error. i can't figure out what i migt've done differently earlier but i'm not having any luck.

Is there a way to load the ndiswrapper module during the boot process?

Fedora Networking :: How To Get BCM4318 Working On F10

Nov 15, 2009

I have been trying to get this card working for a couple of hours without much luck. I was excited to find the thread, but it doesn't seem to work for me for some reason. [URL]. I tried the manual setup method listed, but nothing shows up in Network Manager under wireless cards? Is there something I have to do to get it to show up? I think everything copied to /lib/firmware/b43 for me ok?

Running /sbin/lspci -nn reveals the following:

I'm trying to help a friend with his Acer Aspire 5003 WLMi computer, and if you guys can't help me get this to work, I have to resort to reinstalling Windows XP on his computer.

I've tried with f34cutter and the Windows driver with ndiswrapper, and both ways should work (many others seems to have got it working), but I haven't.

I can't keep up with this much longer (he wants to have his laptop back someday), and I will post the relevant info as soon as you need it.

Ubuntu Networking :: NDISwrapper "module Could Not Be Loaded"?

Feb 13, 2011

I am trying to set up wireless on my desktop. It has no internet whatsoever, I could hook up ethernet but I would have to transfer the whole computer across the house. I installed ndiswrapper from the installation CD. I also installed NDISGTK which is some GUI with the ndiswrapper. I clicked Install New Driver, I am pretty sure I have all the other necessary files along with the mn710.inf, but I get the error:"Module could not be loaded. Error was:FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or directory"After clicking ok, it shows the driver there, but my card is still not working, no lights or anything. Does anyone know what that error is and how I can get it working?

Ubuntu Networking :: Ndiswrapper Stops Working After Update - Belkin 54g?

Oct 23, 2010

I'm trying to get internet set up on my grandad's laptop (sony pcg-f590), which has a fairly old pcmcia belkin 54g wireless card. I've installed the relevant bcmwl5a.inf driver through ndiswrapper, and for a time wireless worked so I installed updates through update manager. however after restarting the network manager menu comes up with "wireless networks disconnected" and no list of networks (I know there are because my laptop works and his is sitting next to the router!). The light is on on the network card so I know the laptop is talking to it. Unplugging and replugging the card does nothing, and neither does restarting again.

Ubuntu Networking :: Installed Driver Via Ndiswrapper. Wireless Still Not Working?

Mar 30, 2011

Before I start off, I must say that I know NOTHING about Ubuntu. I only know how to run .deb files. So I installed my wireless driver via the graphical ndiswrapper (FYI my wireless adapter is a Proxim 8424-WD). It then said "Unable to see if hardware is present". After I exited out of that message, it said "Hardware:Present" (or something of that sort) next to the newly installed driver. I tried searching for wireless networks and found none. I'm guessing something didn't work right. I used this command "lshw -C network" and got the following result.

Debian Configuration :: Error: Module Ndiswrapper Not Found

May 23, 2010

I installed ndiswrapper and tried adding a driver. Error: module ndiswrapper not found. So I recompiled my kernel, upgrading to 2.6.33.4 (no, I can't see the logical connection either) After a week, I got the new kernel working ( in the interim I reinstalled debian- it didn't survive my first kernel attempt. don't ask), and reinstalled ndiswrapper. Same problem. So I had a stoke of genius: download the source package!! So I did. Lo and behold, a new directory appeared in /usr/src/ : modules. I took a moment to admire my work, then I jumped in.I 'ls'ed to see what was going on, and found a Makefile. so I typed 'make'. First error: kernel source not found. So I entered the Makefile, found the(clearly marked)variable, and changed it to /usr/src/linux-2.6.33.4 , exited, and redid 'make' Second error: no wireless support in kernel. So I went to src/linux-2.6.33.4 and did a make menuconfig- loaded my current, threw in wireless, and exited.

I have a gateway MX6445 laptop, you can find all info about it here : [url]

I installed Ubuntu through Wubi from [url]

So far, I haven't tried to do anything but get wireless working, and failed at that. The wireless is much less intuitive than I would have guessed.

From looking at HOWTO post a wireless issue here is some information to read:

So, where should I start? Is it a problem with drivers or do I just not understand how to connect?
