I have upgraded my Acer Aspire One from 10.10 to 11.4. My T-Mobile UK Broadband Dongle worked fine until then, and now it won't work. It starts flashing green (as it did before) and then it flashes blue. I can see a Mobile Broadband option in Network Manager (including the settings that worked in 10.10). However, a right click on the network icon in the top panel does NOT give me any corresponding (T-Mobile) connect option, nor is there anywhere in there with a check against Mobile Broadband as there was in 10.10

with windows you just plug it in and the program and drivers automatically load, the usb modem has a sim card from my wireless provider that has all my details on it so I didnt need to enter a password or any thing
I recently got Tata Docomo 3G Data Card. I was unable to install it on my ubuntu 10.04. My Configuration:
Device: Huawei E367 Internet Device (3G e-stick)
OS: Ubuntu 10.04 AMD 64
Processor/ Architecture: AMD Athlon X2 64 bit (ASUS)
I don't have any other means of internet connection, so that I can download few files on ubuntu 10.04. I got to load all files from Windows and then start from ubuntu.
i have ubuntu 11.04 installed through wubi. ubuntu seems to be able to identify hauwei mobile broadband e1750 but whenever i activate it, it looks like its trying to connect and than after a second, it re-connects if i carefully observe the signal symbol n the upper right corner.
it looks like as if it was blocked off everytime it connected, i have no clue
A few days ago I ordered a UMTS USB-stick from Fonic and I received a Huawei model E1550. Win and Mac install files are on the stick, but nothing for Linux. I found for the USB Modeswitch "drivers" at www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitsch/ (nothing about the program source on the producers web page - strange), but the install gave me a lot of errors, and after a while, I decide to find another "approach". I think you might find this useful. This is my approach for Ubuntu 10.4 LTS. Open your terminal and type:
# sudo apt-get install udev-extras
and add a new udev rule:
# gksu gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/15-huawei-e1550.rules
In the pop-up window make the rule like this:
SUBSYSTEM=="usb",
SYSFS{idProduct}=="1446",
SYSFS{idVendor}=="12d1",
RUN+="/lib/udev/modem-modeswitch --vendor 0x12d1 --product 0x1446 --type option-zerocd"
Save and close. To setup you mobile broadband connection go to System / Preferences / Network Connections, (or type in terminal ~$ nm-connection-editor) select the Mobile Broadband Tab, Add new and follow the assistent. The only changes I made, are the country of the provider, and the provider. (In my case Germany, Fonic) If you have to type in the settings yourself for Fonic, visit [URL] If the device is plugged, it will connect after a few seconds.
What include support a driver for USB modem Huawei E219 (HSDPA/UMTS) and Huawei EC226 (3G/EVDO)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI moved from Debian to Ubuntu a few months ago, with everything working fine, except my 3G modem (which worked with wvdial and umtsmon in Debian).
The packaging claims that it is a Huawei E160, but lsusb says different: E220 (12d1:1003).
I've followed various instructions from these forums and the wiki, and it seems to be being recognised as a modem (I can set up an O2 prepaid (UK) connection), but it refuses to connect.
I'm about to chuck my Ubuntu Dell Mini Laptop in the trash, have tried everything and read everything, but there seems no easy way to install the wireless drivers.

How can I get this working?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used Ubuntu for almost 3 years now and now I'm forced back in the arms of windows. Unfortunantly the only internet connection thats available here is a 3G modem connection. When I bought the connection a Huawei E122 modem was delivered to me.
When I plug it in it recognizes the modem as it should and it even lets me set it up. But then when I connect, it fails.I have googled around for a couple of days and I've come up empty handed.I really want ubuntu back, and still be able to use the internet.I have a Asus EEE 1008ha laptop and use ubuntu 9.10
I recently bought a Huawei EC1261 mobile broadband dongle from Tata Teleservices. Unfortunately,neither does the dongle does not work in Ubuntu 9.04(Jaunty Jackalope) nor in Windows XP. The dongle is rather mounted as a drive and not recognised by NetworkManager as a mobile broadband device. The drive can be accessed with Nautilus as well as terminal like any other USB pen drive and located at "/media/disk". Also, does the device work in Ubuntu 10.04(Lucid Lynx)? report if anyone has tried using the device on Lucid, as I will upgrade to Lucid if the device is supported.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, the operating system is unable to detect the usb modem Huawei EC 1262. It is annoying since i dont have any alternate connection to troubleshoot. I can't download any software through ubuntu software center. I am using ubuntu since 2005 but mostly i used dsl. this thing is new to me. since i moved from my previous place so had to buy wireless connection.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently use Ubuntu 9.04. I have thought of upgrading to 10.04 for a long time, but I am unable to do so as I do not know if my mobile broadband device, Huawei EC1260, works out of the box in 10.04. In the Ubuntu wiki, I found that it was not compatible with 9.10 and a bug report had been already filed. A line is mentioned in the page, which tells us:
Declined for Lucid by Jeremy Foshee
So, does this mean that the problem is fixed in 10.04? Or, if it is incompatible, then, how will I configure it so that it can work? Now, many people may be considering that I might just download the CD image and try it out. Although my company has given me the device with 5 GB of free usage, but I have to show reasons for any file downloaded more than 15 MB.
Apparently it works with >Ubuntu 9.04, but I need 8.04..I'd had an older modem working on the same system, so its really something to do with this newer ones.
Symptoms:
lsusb shows little, no /dev/ttyUSB* devices

I just recently switched from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 10.04.1. Like Ubuntu 9.10, Networkmanager will not recognise the Huawei EC1260 until I do all this in a terminal:Code:udo rmmod usb-storagesudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x140bHowever, if I have plugged in a pen drive earlier, then the above methods fail, too.This is a continuation of the problem that first appeared in 9.10 which has not been fixed yet (and reportedly fixed in 10.04).

10.04. Updated frequently (nothing unsupported but official). Last time NM couldn't connect to internet. It was just animating for 20-30 sec. and stopped after. Modem is detected (as always). The only way I am able to get connection is wvdial. Which I'm using now.

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to Lucid from Karmic. First thing I notice after restart is that I have no wireless. No big deal, I probably just need to re-install the proprietary drivers. I go to do this, and it gives me an error message, saying that the installation has failed. This has never happened before, and didn't happen when I upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic. I have an HP dv6 1230us and a Broadcom STA card.
I really need the internet to be working, and didn't anticipate that an upgrade, of all things, would screw it up...
I've got version 10.4, also.
I have a Zonet ZEW2508 USB wireless adapter and the drivers that come with it won't install. Are there any drivers that work with Ubuntu?
Ubuntu does appear to see that it's plugged in, however.

A FAQ on this forum states that I need to install drivers/firmware because presumably there is no out of the box support. I read the FAQ [URL]..Debian and it seems that I need to get the driver/firmware then issue some command to put it where it needs to go.
