Ubuntu Networking :: 11.04 And Huawei E5 Blueconnect Driver?
Apr 27, 2011
I need driver for my Huawei e5 modem. connection by wi fi is ok but i need to read messages from the SIM card, inserting to phone isn't possible because if i put it back into modem i will be asked for PIN code that is typed by the computer.
On google there is no information. Opensuse does not know anything about this chip. On that stick is a driver for Win 7 64 and a linux driver for debian. I shall " dial up" with an analog modem to get into the internet. All at the console over ppp and comands like pon and poff. there is no networkmanager. The web `n walk stick and its label is Fusion II. Perhaps anybody has similar problems.
I moved from Debian to Ubuntu a few months ago, with everything working fine, except my 3G modem (which worked with wvdial and umtsmon in Debian).
The packaging claims that it is a Huawei E160, but lsusb says different: E220 (12d1:1003).
I've followed various instructions from these forums and the wiki, and it seems to be being recognised as a modem (I can set up an O2 prepaid (UK) connection), but it refuses to connect.
ubuntu I can not use a wireless modem huawei 160.type can only be used in windows.well to be used in my ubuntu linux? whether there is a script that used.
I've used Ubuntu for almost 3 years now and now I'm forced back in the arms of windows. Unfortunantly the only internet connection thats available here is a 3G modem connection. When I bought the connection a Huawei E122 modem was delivered to me.
When I plug it in it recognizes the modem as it should and it even lets me set it up. But then when I connect, it fails.I have googled around for a couple of days and I've come up empty handed.I really want ubuntu back, and still be able to use the internet.I have a Asus EEE 1008ha laptop and use ubuntu 9.10
I recently bought a Huawei EC1261 mobile broadband dongle from Tata Teleservices. Unfortunately, neither does the dongle does not work in Ubuntu 9.04(Jaunty Jackalope) nor in Windows XP. The dongle is rather mounted as a drive and not recognised by NetworkManager as a mobile broadband device. The drive can be accessed with Nautilus as well as terminal like any other USB pen drive and located at "/media/disk". Also, does the device work in Ubuntu 10.04(Lucid Lynx)? report if anyone has tried using the device on Lucid, as I will upgrade to Lucid if the device is supported.
As the title says, the operating system is unable to detect the usb modem Huawei EC 1262. It is annoying since i dont have any alternate connection to troubleshoot. I can't download any software through ubuntu software center. I am using ubuntu since 2005 but mostly i used dsl. this thing is new to me. since i moved from my previous place so had to buy wireless connection.
I currently use Ubuntu 9.04. I have thought of upgrading to 10.04 for a long time, but I am unable to do so as I do not know if my mobile broadband device, Huawei EC1260, works out of the box in 10.04. In the Ubuntu wiki, I found that it was not compatible with 9.10 and a bug report had been already filed. A line is mentioned in the page, which tells us: Declined for Lucid by Jeremy Foshee So, does this mean that the problem is fixed in 10.04? Or, if it is incompatible, then, how will I configure it so that it can work? Now, many people may be considering that I might just download the CD image and try it out. Although my company has given me the device with 5 GB of free usage, but I have to show reasons for any file downloaded more than 15 MB.
Apparently it works with >Ubuntu 9.04, but I need 8.04..I'd had an older modem working on the same system, so its really something to do with this newer ones.
Symptoms:

I just recently switched from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 10.04.1. Like Ubuntu 9.10, Networkmanager will not recognise the Huawei EC1260 until I do all this in a terminal:Code:udo rmmod usb-storagesudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x140bHowever, if I have plugged in a pen drive earlier, then the above methods fail, too. This is a continuation of the problem that first appeared in 9.10 which has not been fixed yet (and reportedly fixed in 10.04).
i'm having problems trying to get ubuntu to recognise my usb modem because its one of those "flip-flop"/"zero-cd" devices.okay so this is what is inside the usb-modeswitch.conf file
10.04. Updated frequently (nothing unsupported but official). Last time NM couldn't connect to internet. It was just animating for 20-30 sec. and stopped after. Modem is detected (as always). The only way I am able to get connection is wvdial. Which I'm using now.
Have a huawei model e122 and workd fine on Win7 but I have a dual boot with a seperate hard drive for linux.....its were all my online banking etc is done and was wondering does anyone know how to set it up on linux ?
with windows you just plug it in and the program and drivers automatically load, the usb modem has a sim card from my wireless provider that has all my details on it so I didnt need to enter a password or any thing
I am new to Linux. I have recently installed the Ubuntu 11.4 LTS Distro that comes with the Haynes Linux Manual (which I heartily recommend to new users). For the Internet I have a Huawei E1550 dongle on the 3 network in the UK which I'm currently using with Windows XP on my desktop to post this thread. After some initial fumbling, I'm unable to use the dongle with Ubuntu.
I have upgraded my Acer Aspire One from 10.10 to 11.4. My T-Mobile UK Broadband Dongle worked fine until then, and now it won't work. It starts flashing green (as it did before) and then it flashes blue. I can see a Mobile Broadband option in Network Manager (including the settings that worked in 10.10). However, a right click on the network icon in the top panel does NOT give me any corresponding (T-Mobile) connect option, nor is there anywhere in there with a check against Mobile Broadband as there was in 10.10
This is really weird, and I would like just this question answered: I've spent like 2 hours by plugging, unplugging, rebooting, and doing everything I could, but the modem wasn't working. When I did ls /dev/ttyU* it was showing up a list of 6 usb devices.
Code: /dev/ttyUSB0 /dev/ttyUSB1 /dev/ttyUSB2 /dev/ttyUSB3 /dev/ttyUSB4 /dev/ttyUSB5 And when I sent the command wvdialconf after looking into all the devices, it didn't recognize any modem.
The thing is, that by the time I was writing here for a solution, I disconnected the modem, and when I reconnected it I did a ls /dev/ttyU* just to copypaste the info, and Voil! there were just 2 devices, and wvdialconf worked out just fine! I would like to know what I was doing wrong, so I make sure it won't happen again.
I recently received my Ubuntu 9.10 CD, Kubuntu 9.10CD and Server Edition. I was recommended to do so by a friend because my computer Running on Windows Vista Home Basic with 512MB RAM has been extremely, unbearably slow for the last month or so I got the CD's yesterday and I ran the Ubuntu CD and everything was fine, I rebooted the Computer and it started up! It was great!! Really quick and responsive and easy to use and i LOVE it's features...
My only problem is my Broadband. I live in Ireland and I have my broadband with o2, it's quick and sufficient for my needs. I have a Huawei E270 usb modem (It's wireless broadband). And it wouldn't Work. I plugged it into my pc with Ubuntu up and running and it opened the File for o2 rather than the Interface for it. When I plugged the modem in there was a green lock symbol on the top right of the screen. Is Ubuntu even compatible with the E270 modem?
I use a Huawei E 1550 mobile connection, which worked fine in Ubuntu 9.10.I've got it working okay in 10.04, having installed modeswitch. However, it will not automatically reconnect if it drops out. I can force a reconnection, only if I remove the dongle and then plug it in again. Although it shows in network manager, clicking on the list entry for the dongle, just produces a disconnected dialogue message. The only way to get it to reconnect is to remove the dongle and plug it in again.I know there have been a few posts about getting mobile dongles to work in 10.04, but I can't see any solutions to this little issue yet.
USB 3G Huawei E1550 modem is used for connecting to the internet. When I'm connecting to the internet modem light is blue (it means that I'm connecting using 3G network)I have issues with speed when browsing internet (using Firefox and Google Chrome) or updating software using apt-get (download speed around 1.5 - 6 kB).At the same time I can download files using Transmission with 60 - 120 kB.
I just got a TEData Huawei EchoLife HG520b router (I'm in Egypt, if your not familiar with the company that's why) and found the connection is slower when using Firefox on my Ubuntu 10.04 boot than when using IE on my Vista boot. For obvious reasons I'd like to be able to continue using Ubuntu, but if I can't speed up the Internet that won't be an option.
how to configure Huawei 3G modem (ec325) in ubuntu 10.04, even i tried with gnome-ppp / wvdial which unable to connect, shows "ppp deamon died" and disconnected at the end of dial.
I am having desperate problems trying to connect to the net with a Huawei E173 USB modem. I was using Linux Mint 7 which I upgraded to version 9 today to see if that would fix the problem but it made no difference. Basically it seems the only time I can connect to the net in linux is if I use the modem in windows and then restart straight into linux, in that case it sometimes gets recognised and works. So at least I know it can work.
I've been trying loads of stuff like usb_modeswitch I found on the net but none of it has worked. Here is what ls-usb gives me -
[Code]....
I am unable to get any work done without the net and I will not have access to a wired connection til the new year.
I have a Dell Inspiron 910 with Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04 running. I tried Ubuntu Netbook 10.10 but it wouldn't boot after installation and tried MeeGo as well but it detected the flash drive on the USB as damaged.
It was originally a Windows OS on delivery and I've done a clean install wiping the previosu partitions for this install. The install was done through USB. Kernel is 2.6.32-21-generic i686
It detects the Huawei USB when doing dmesg in the terminal (clipped what I thought may be useful):
