Well I am trying to install the b43 drivers since the default drivers are broken but with the new unity desktop I cannot figure out how. Is there a guide for this yet? The sticky at the top of the forums seems to be for 10.10.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion Dv6-1230US laptop that I bought from staples when it was on sale for 800 dollars with a 4 year accidental damage warranty. It came with Vista Home Premium 64Bit installed. It had Windows 7 Business 64Bit on it at one point, And the latest windows installation was Windows Vista Business 32Bit. My trial period ran out on vista and I switched to Ubuntu 10.04 32Bit, and, as always, I have a problem with the wireless card. I have looked it up and everything, i do have the drivers installed, and it looks functional, but its not. It will act like its going to connect to my AP (Netgear WNR3500L that is like 2 days old), but it eventually askes me for my WPA2-Personal AES key, which I have supplied, and is correct before hand, i type the exact same thing in and it still doesn't work.
I've tried sudo apt-get update, and sudo apt-get upgrade, but it doesn't work. nothing has to update. This installation was installed today, and updated about 6 hours ago to the fullest extent.The wired works absolutely perfect (that's how i updated it). Hardware:Laptop has a Broadcom 4322AG b/g/draft-n wireless card from HP integrated into the laptop. The router is a Netgear WNR3500L which i bought because we are switching ISP's soon and our old router is a modem, that will only work on a DSL connection.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a fresh install of 11.04. I am trying to install the "additional drivers" Broadcom STA wireless on my dell laptop. The drivers worked correctly pre-install on the boot up test run, but now they won't activate or uninstall.
On activation attempt, it says : installation of this driver failed. Please have a look at the log.

I just bought a brand new Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z (All in One). So I just recently migrated from Vista to Linux, I'm running Ubuntu Studio 10.04 on a HP Pavilion DV6700 with a Broadcom BCM 4312 b/g frequencies wifi adapter. I followed one guide telling me to use the hardware drivers program to activate Broadcom STA wireless driver, but whenever i attempt to do so it says "SystemError: InstallArchives() failed". Can anyone help?? (BTW i am not that adept with the Linux operating as of yet)

Since there is no "Additional Drivers" app in Fedora like there is in Ubuntu, how the heck can I install the Broadcom STA drivers from the Live CD without using an Ethernet cable? And how the heck can I ensure that they stay installed, even after installing Fedora? I suppose putting the RPM on a USB Flash Drive will work, but that's the only thing I can think of... And is there an RPM out there for this specific driver?

I am using a HP Mini 1010nr with broadcom bcm4312 wireless card. I went online and downloaded the drivers onto a USB drive from the broadcom website. All I need to know is what are the commands or the programs I use to install the 32 bit drivers I downloaded?? Sorry I know the answer is in here somewhere but I don't understand what the command is on how to install my drivers from my thumb drive.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my Lenovo B570 in a dual boot config alongside Windows 7. I've downloaded the correct Broadcom STA drivers (the model is Broadcom BCM4313) with another PC, transferred them with a USB stick, installed them with Synaptic and locked the version as was recommended. I've also used the rfkill command to turn off the software block, so both hardware and software switches are OK.
The problem is when I go to the "Additional Drivers" application, it yells at me for not having internet access, and then shows up completely empty. This confuses me because I've manually installed it, so I would think it would show up regardless, but it doesn't. In a final effort to make it happy, I've brought it to work and connected it through the Ethernet, setting up the proxy LAN settings to let it through the firewall. I can get on the web with Firefox with that method, however when I launch "Additional Drivers", it sits there searching for drivers endlessly, so I'm guessing it's not really connected. I feel like I'm really close here - I just need to enable the Broadcom driver, but I can't because "Additional Drivers" won't show it.
Ubuntu seems to think my device is disabled. The switch is on and the blue light next to the switch is also on. I read up on this on other threads, but the solution involved using the cd. I had to install from windows using the iso and alcohol 120 because my cddrive is totally dead.

Finding drivers is not that difficult to find; but finding this particular one in .inf format has been difficult. Is there any forum (this?) where I could request such a drive?

how to use Fedora - how I fluked it the first time - but havent had any luck since reinstall
From what I understand, this problem can be solved easily but you have to insert the install disc into /cdrom/, but I'm on an HP Mini 110 netbook and obviously don't have a cdrom drive. Is there some way I could redirect it to my usb or something? It doesn't seem to present the option. Every other release works with my wireless, but this is the only one that works with my sound lol so I'm damned either way. I still use 9.10 sometimes because I love it but I have to hook it up to an ethernet connection and that kind of defeats the purpose of having a netbook

1. ViewSonic VS10259 PCMCIA Wireless 802.11G PC Card Adapter.
2. Broadcom BCM94306MP REV 4 Internal Wireless Adapter.
I can't get either of these installed on an old Dell Inspiron 8500. My kernal version is 2.6.35.6-45.fc14.i686 (2.6.35). I have installed fedora 14. I dont have a wired network connection , so as mentioned in one the threads [URL]... i downloaded the RPM fusion of the driver and followed the steps. This is the first time m installing linux ,i have no idea if my kernel is kmod version. But when tried installing any of those codes provided it gave an err saying NOTHING TO DO. But my network manager doesn't show the wlan. It still says driver firmware missing. When checked the loaded kernel it did have ssb and b4. I did blacklist them. But reappears everytime i check and wl is not loaded.CAN anyone please help me know wat I should do?

I have downloaded the 32 bit drivers from here (am running Mandriva 2010.1 Free 32 bit). The readme indicates the 4727 is supported by the latest OS drivers amazingly. [URL]. I have installed the Linux kernel source files.
First problem comes with the first instruction in the readme.

I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed and can browse the internet via cable, but wireless isnt working. My wireless driver is "Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN".
In the windows device manager, I found the corresponding inf file to be oem20.inf which I tried to install it through "Setup Windows Driver" but it gave an error saying invalid driver. I also tried installing the Broadcom STA driver, but that didnot help.
I am dual booting with Windows 7, and i installed ubuntu through the windows wubi installer. My laptop is HP Pavilion dv4. I have installed the regular Ubuntu desktop and have made all upgrades. The results from lspci command i have added below.

I chose to change my operating system from Microsoft Xp to Linux and finally chose Fedora to be my new OS.
After Fedora installation I got a problem that I cannot connect to my wireless network I used to using Xp, I think that my wireless card is not installed on Fedora because when I checked in the network configuration I found that the only installed adapter is the Ethernet Realtek for the wired connection.
My OS is Fedora 11.
The CPU Model name is : Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T8300 @2.40 GHz, so I think that my architecture is x86_64.
My Network controller is : Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g

I have had a search around, any cannot find any thing I can make sense of as to how I go about getting the above card to work with Fedora 11. Just done a fresh install (need Linux for some development) but have no wifi. My chipset is this Broadcom BCM4310. There seems to be a whole load of options, and I don't know which works and which don't:

I can sit with an Ethernet cable to install/update as necessary, but really could do with wireless.
I have an Acer Aspire 5102 notebook computer with the infamous Broadcom 4318 chipset. In the past I have had to install FW cutter & proprietary drivers to get this chipset to work with Ubuntu. With the release of Ubuntu 10.10 Marverick Meercat I seem to remember the WiFi working immediately after installation; although I could be mistaken.
Will I have to go through similar gymnastics to get Debian to work on my system; or do you think it will work right away?

I could not even sign in with older kernels. Had to use a Puppy CD to edit my Grub menu.lst so I could sign in on the older kernel.
