I am thinking of performing a fresh ubuntu install, but I have a LOT of DSL connections created in my laptop (10.10, created through the NetworkManager applet 0.8.1). Is there any file that stores the connection information, and if there is one, where is it?

For Ubuntu 10.04, I can configure the network by "Network Connections". This configuration is done by doing the following operation sequences(System->Preferences->Network Connections->wired->auto eth0). Then I can connet to and browse the internet. If I type the command "ifconfig", I can see the ip I configured for eth0. Part of the content is as blow:

inet addr:192.168.28.31 Bcast:192.168.28.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
But in the "interfaces" file, there is no eth0 content. The whole content is simply as below:

I think there should be other files that keep the eth0 configuration content.
As we have planned to implement jboss web server. i am curious gather some information about it.My question is where jboss stores the deployed file. Because jboss server starts with no error.but i cant able to access my application.Its showing 404 error.I just want to know the path where jboss stores the deployed file or the any log files that tells the story.

have a problem with my network-manager in ubuntu 10.10.when I dial one of my vpn connections, my other vpn connections be disabled and I can't use them!I tried to restart network-manager and gnome-panel, but it does't seem to solve this problem.

I know that networking seems to be functional since I can ping local devices on the network. I can't resolve DNS names however. I suppose this is because network manager usually handles DNS? Is it fair to say that connLimit and hashlimit are very similiar on Linux i.e. while hashlimit caters to limits for groups of ports, they both set the connection rate limit per host? How in IPTables, do I configure a policy that limits connections on a port that encapsulates the total sum of all connections from all hosts? i.e. I do not want to allow more than 6000conn/minute for port range that is the sum of all connecting hosts?

Windows always stores its boot detail in MBR similarly for Linux too but i have learnt that in many different installation of Linux that we can store in the first part of the Partition but trying out i have always failed to start, since the MBR fails to identify it. I have also tried EasyBCD and adding the link to Grub as the first partition but that too it din't work.

After digging around in vain in my local .kde4 I am unable to find where the RSSNow plasmoid stores the feeds. It apparently wants to keep them secret forever.
(Man - Plasmoids are okay, but the utter lack of documentation for them makes them far less useful than then could be.)
Rebooted my server after some funky stuff started happening with mysql. Turns out the drive that stores the mysql databases has gone missing. I did an fdisk, and the partition table is gone. I used gpart to see if there were any partitions available & there were -- two + one swap. Can you help me put this back together I know very little about reconstructing a table to use... When I click on the network manager icon next to the date in the upper right corner of my screen, my network connections do not show up. I have added two DSL connections on my laptop (username & password) but it doesn't show up. Everyday I need to use

if I wish to connect to the internet.
Both these connections are added in the same way on my Desktop Computer and it shows up on the network manager. One of them is even the default which connects automatically on startup.
Because it's not working I assume network manager is not compatible with my laptop. Are there patches to install or other programs that can easily manage my internet connection?
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 on a not-so-new laptop.
I have recently installed lucid 10.04, and I am having difficulty accessing my wireless. Following instructions to install the drivers for my wireless card, I always run into a problem when I need to configure my card. When I go to system-administration-network, there is no connections tab listed. I can only access General, DNS and hosts.

A dd-wrt access point is plugged into eth1 and then a bridge connecting my xbox360 and another bridge connecting a desktop computer.Everything works pretty well, except a few times a day, my network will just shut down. The wireless on my macbook and my wife's laptop will just shut down, and if my xbox is running, it will lose connectivity. I am a user of Ubuntu 10.04 and I use Firestarter because it lets me know which IPs I am connected to, which ports are used, and which applications are using those ports. The problem is that I can't use Firestarter with my non-sudo account (well, I know that I can change my system settings to do that, but I'd rahther not do it).
So the question is: Is there any application that lets the user monitor the internet connection?
