Can anyone tell me where Rhythmbox stores it's data and configuration files ? What I want to do is copy the playlist information from one computer to another.
View 2 RepliesI have a lot of CDs and I've been uploading them onto the computer via RhythmBox to be played on RhythmBox. At first, it would get all the song titles and the artist name and the album name and all that stuff. I stopped uploading music for a week or two and started again, but now it's stopped doing getting the info, and I have to enter everything manually, and I've been doing that, but it takes a while.
What's the problem and how to I fix it? It seems it might've been related to Musicbrainz, which apparently gets album data. Did that site stop working, or did I have some free trial which ran out?Did I just happen to upload CDs with the data built in at first, and now am uploading Cs that don't have that? Not even sure it works like that.
where transmission stores it's data. i've looked all through my home folder and can't seem to find it.

This configuration is done by doing the following operation sequences(System->Preferences->Network Connections->wired->auto eth0). Then I can connet to and browse the internet. If I type the command "ifconfig", I can see the ip I configured for eth0. Part of the content is as blow:

But in the "interfaces" file, there is no eth0 content. The whole content is simply as below:

I think there should be other files that keep the eth0 configuration content.

Also, rhythmbox says it needs the gstreamer m4a acc plugin, but I have all of the gstreamer thingys installed, as with FAAC. I'm on 11.3.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I start rhythmbox, it starts scanning my external HDD for sound files. There are 450,000+ sound files at least, and it won't import my music collection while it's doing this. Is there a way to stop this? Disconnecting or hiding the drive isn't an option as my music collection is in a folder on that drive, and there isn't enough space on my local HDD to store it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a dsi so all of my music in .m4a I have all the codecs/gstreamers packages installed and they are all from packman it's not my sound cause I can play them in vlc but in rhythm box it says that I do not have the proper codec to play the file. Any ideas? Also I'm on 11.2 latest updates.

Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm running a Dell XPS 410 with 4GB RAM and a 1.75 GHz processor.Also, I imported a CD and it plays fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried the above using an existing multisession CD where data files were previously burned in a different pc using K3b. However, when the burning was completed successfully, the CD could not be read at all. I repeated the process with a blank CD choosing to leave it open in order to add more data later. All went well and the CD was readable but when I tried to add data to the same CD I got the message

Already burnt files will be invisible (though still readable). Do you want to continue anyway?
I opted not to continue despite the temptation to see how invisible files can be read.
To sum it up, I find this turn of events absolutely appalling given that Brasero is the default software for CD burning in my system (Xubuntu 9.10). Can anyone tell me how to resolve this glaring shortcoming of Brasero so as to keep all my data files easily accessible in multisession CDs?
I am having some problems editing the meta data tags of some music files. The problem is that i am unable to get some files to show up in either EasyTag or Musicbrainz. Problem is when i go to 'add folder/file' i can't see the songs while browsing.
From what i have observed it seems that the songs for which this is an issue are those which i have converted using sound converter. Here it seems that it is the same files in both programmes so i am thinking that there must be something i can do to the file to have it be recognised.
streaming videos i sometime want to save them, after watching. generally they're saved as flash videos or mpeg-4 video, which is all fine.however periodically they're split-up and saved in smaller chunks with names like data_1, data_2, data_3 etc. these range from 14.0 - 44.0 MB. the file in question (currently i'm trying to save from the cache) was from divxden, or possibly divxstage.eu either way i think it used the totem plugin.so, my question is: does anyone know if these files can be stuck back together, or if this feature can be changed so streamed files are kept intact?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSome PDF files have a functionality that text and amounts can be filled in some parts of the file, after which it can be printed (most of the times NOT saved). Our tax authorities have these files as well, you can download them, fill in text and amounts, it even counts it for you, and you can print and send.
Unfortunately, I can't use that functionality in Evince (running Squeeze). I tried this with Adobe (also in Squeeze) and it didn't work either. In Win it does work, but of course I would like Debian to be "allround" Can it be that some application must be installed to use this function?

I recently installed this awesome distribution - Fedora 15 x64 because of the Gnome 3. I love it. But i have problem with adding music library folders to rhythmbox. I' ve been using gconf-editor for that on all debian based distributons i worked until this. I installed gconf-editor 3.0.0-2 but cannot find the entry for rhythmbox player. Can you tell me how to fix this ?

I thought, no biggie, I'll get everything back in order and just use the Missing Files list in Rhythmbox to figure what's missing.
Problem. Though the file count diminishes as Rhythmbox scans the library for file changes, nothing is being added to the Missing Files list. I have done this on two machines (one the server itself, the other across a Samba share). Same behaviour.
I have never seen Rb count down files and not add them to the Missing Files list.
I'm trying to get Rhythmbox to play my WMA files. I did some research and I found an old thread on the forums, and I tried what the people said, but I still can't get my WMA files to play and I can't post any replies Maybe there's something I'm missing?

I have a Sansa mini-clip MP3 player. Now that I am using Ubuntu I wanted to totally redo my play lists. So using the Sansa menu, I formatted the MP3 player to start fresh. Then I opened Rythmbox and was going to import my MP3 files from my hard drive. Only problem is all of my MP3 files are grayed out on the import files menu. Then I installed Banshee and tried to import the MP3 files and they are grayed out in that program too.
why my MP3 files won't import into Rythmbox or Banshee?
if I play an MP3 file in either Totem or Rhythmbox, it thinks it's streaming them, which prevents me from being able to skip to a certain part of the song and the progress bar is greyed out. How do I fix this?

First issue was I could not get MP3 to show as a "Preferred format", but then installed the "gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse package"; MP3 was then a "Preferred format" option. Now that MP3 is the preferred format, the CD is ripped in a "flac" format. Is there some conversion? I'm not well versed in music file formats.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI own a Sony NWZ-E345 MP3 player that used to be seen by Rhythmbox when running 9.10 with no issues. After enabling the plugin for MTP within Rhythmbox the player was seen at connection. However, after updating to 10.04 my MP3 player is not seen at all, even though MTP support is enabled under plugins. As a matter of fact none of the media players I installed can see my player and they all support MTP. I tried some other players as a troubleshooting step. I have confirmed that libmtp8 is installed via the repository. Has anyone encountered this as well? I suspect this may be an easy reply for someone. BTW, this occurs with two different machines and nothing has changed with my MP3 player.
