I am trying to connect my pptp client Linux to a pptp Linux server using modem but no success. I can only tweak ppp linux side Observing the following log I found its due to MPPE Support configuration mismatch in pppd, pppd (linux client) is refusing to accept MPPE encryption.

I have been wanting to switch from my routers VPN to my headless linux box VPN. I have everything setup in the PPTP and then forwarded the ports to it. Heres the kicker. My APPLE Iphone connects to the VPN without a problem at all. Views Intranet pages etc.
My Windoz XP is kicking and screaming and one error after another. This is my setup on XP: I entered Ip Entered exact same credentials as used for connecting with my iphone turned off "use gateway on remote network" Changed type to PPTP VPN connecting my xp machine to this PPTP server on linux?
I am a newcommer to Centos. I should connect to internet via a pptp vpn connection. I created the connection in "network connections". In other distrows I could connect to created pptp vpn connection simply by clicking on network-manager-applet and selecting the connection, but there is no network-manager-applet in Centos. Is there any way to connect to the vpn connection I created or I should go to do it by manually editing config files?
I'm attempting to get 10.04 to connect to an SBS 2003 pptp vpn server, but for the life of me have been unable to find or implement a working solution. System previously had 8.x and 9.x and had no difficulty connecting to same server, but on a fresh install of 10.04 cannot connect.
tail -f /var/log/syslog shows the following:
Code: Sep 10 15:19:32 ubuntu NetworkManager: <info> Starting VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp'... Sep 10 15:19:32 ubuntu NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp' started

i want to configure my ppptp server to allow users access internet with their own public ips of class 62.2.3.0 62.2.4.0 62.2.5.0
every time i configure my server all users can get thier IPs but they only go out with my server IP same as NAT not routing.
can you show me the proper configuration to make my users connect with public IP and have internet access. use specific DNS ( i did this but some users can not brows by DNS)
is there any way to specify an expired date for each pptp user.
I'm trying to connect to a Microsoft ISA PPTP server from my Linux box. The box I'm connecting from is itself a router. I have no problem connecting a Windows XP machine to the VPN via this machine. This is fine, but I would rather connect via the Linux machine, giving me far more advanced routing options (i.e. no to send every packet from the XP box completely unnecessarily via the PPTP tunnel). The Linux router is running Debian Lenny.
I've checked iptables. There were initially some issues. I've fixed those.
Invoking pppd from the console, I can see that authentication succeeds, but then some negotiation goes wrong and the server terminates the connection. Here's the output from pppd, with the more sensitive stuff removed:
Code: <hostname>:~# pppd call <peer> nodetach debug using channel 19 Using interface ppp0 Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/2 sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0xe3e45f75> <pcomp> <accomp>] code....
I have set up an ubuntu server running PPTP Server for VPN connections. I can successfully connect from a laptop within the LAN, but taking that same machine to an internet connection and trying to connect back in does not work. The only difference is that when I connect from within the network, I am obviously using the server's LAN (non-routable) address, and when I am connecting from outside the network (from Verizon Business DSL ), I am using the Comcast connection's static IP address.
I have a static IP address on a Comcast Business Class internet connection. Router is set to forward pptp and GRE ports.
Works: VPN Server <- Laptop iPhone -> Internet -> Router -> VPN Server
Does not work: Laptop -> Internet -> Router -> VPN Server
Here is the weird thing. I have an iPhone that connects flawlessly every time through it's AT&T data connection. The laptop however, gets to "verifying username and password", and then returns error 619. It seems that there is an issue only when going through the router using the PPTP client built into MS windows.
I am trying to connect a computer running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to the internet via PPPoE over WLAN and having trouble connecting. The device that connects to WAN is a D-Link DSL-G604T. WAN connection in this device is configured for bridged mode. This is what I have done:
I've been familiarizing myself with the command line and am attempting to connect to a wireless network but am getting stuck at the point wherein I need to put in a password. When I run iwconfig I see my card is wlan0.I definitely know my password as I can connect using a GUI. The encryption method for my network is WPA2.Could someone tell me how I could connect to a WPA2 secured network via a command line, and/or where I went wrong with what I've been trying?
To configure webmail in linux5, Ive followed below procedures:
-Squirrelmail-1.4.2.tar.gz and unzipped under the folder /var/www/html -cd squirrelmail-1.4.2 -cd config -within this directory, ./conf.pl -From main menu, I did choose 2 for domain (i.e. arafapparels.com). This is my official domain -Then save and exit -For IMAP setting, I did choose D -Selected uw and save, then exit -Then from command line, I wrote chown R apache.apache /var/www/html/data (I created folder data in the above path) -I created a folder named as attach to keep attachment in /var/www/html i.e. /var/www/html/attach -Then typed grep R apache /var/www/html/attach -Then typed chmod 730 /var/www/html/mail/attach (Here squirrelmail-1.4.2 directory has been moved to mail directory) -Then from web browser/Internet explorer, I typed http://localhost/mail/ -Here Username & Password appears. Previously I have created username. -But when put Username & Password, below error message displays
Error connecting to IMAP server: localhost 13: Permission denied But I gave permission by chmod 777 /var/www/html/mail and by using 555 but no result.
I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and its great. However when I connect to the internet at home it shows that the connection has been established but I still cant connect to the internet. My flatmates are all able to connect. However, I am able to connect from work both wirelessly and through an ethernet cable.
My network comprises three PC's .... Windows XP, Windows 98SE and Ubuntu 9.04 running SAMBA. All PC's are configured WORKGROUP=WORKGROUP. The network connection To/From XP/UBUNTU via SAMBA Shares works perfectly OK. However, despite scouring all forum information regarding changes to Win98 ENCRYPTION, (Registry change re: DWORD "EnablePlainTextPasswords"), the Win98 PC refuses to connect to UBUNTU. The UBUNTU PC can conect to all the Win98 shared folders OK. I have disabled my Linux Firewall (Firestarter), I have run SMBCLIENT to check the user password for Win98 and it is validated OK. The Win98 error message is ....
"\Inspiron 510m is not accessible. The computer or sharename could not be found. Make Sure you typed it correctly and try again."
My samba.conf file is as follows ..... Any help or assistance PLEASE !

I'm trying to connect to [URL] but it will not work no matter what settings. I have ticked MPPE, configured gateway, username, MSCHAP and MSCHAPv2 are ticked, using 128-bit encryption. I have tried to forward port 1723 and 1127 in my router, I have also ticked "enable PPTP PassThrough" in the router. I cannot telnet to vpn.itshidden.com. This is on Ubuntu Lucid. These are my logs from an unsuccessful connection attempt:
I am having trouble connecting back to my vpn at work while I'm at home. Mainly need to get our local svn repos for at home development. I successfully connected to the vpn following this [URL]..I am running Lucid Lynx 64bit and I followed the 9.10 section of the tutorial on setting up PPTP connection.
It worked fine. Then I walked away from my computer and it was disconnected when I came back 2 hours later. I was unable to connect back to it. I used my laptop which is running windows 7 and it connected just fine. So, now I am unable to connect to it and have no idea why. I viewed my system log and don't know what to do with the information. Could someone help me out on this.

I just installed ubuntu 9.10 but there isn`t pptp VPN on Network manager. How can I install its packages?? I dont have any internet access on my linux because the only way to connecting to the internet is pptp VPN for me.
I setup a PPTP VPN connection in ubuntu 9.10 (x86_64) using NetworkManager. After enabling the VPN connection, I can browse web pages (it's perfect) but after a while the vpn connection is terminated! The following is my syslog after connecting and terminating:
Code: Mar 12 22:10:10 amir-desktop NetworkManager: <info> Starting VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp'... Mar 12 22:10:10 amir-desktop NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp' started (org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp), PID 2204
I got this working om my laptop but on my desktop this keeps going wrong, its an upgraded system to 10.04. Made a standard pptp connection using network-manager (and the connection is 100% fine, working on laptop and on windoooz machine) This is syslog any ideas, i reinstalled network-manager-pptp and pptp-gnome, but no go no go..
I tried to configure my vpn connection using pptp from the shell following following tutorial: [URL] now, if i use Code: pppd call novax to connect to my vpn i see following appearing in /var/log/messages:
Code: Feb 10 21:11:57 reg-laptop pppd[2655]: pppd 2.4.5 started by root, uid 0 Feb 10 21:11:57 reg-laptop pppd[2655]: Using interface ppp0 Feb 10 21:11:57 reg-laptop pppd[2655]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/0 Feb 10 21:11:58 reg-laptop pppd[2655]: CHAP authentication succeeded Feb 10 21:11:59 reg-laptop pppd[2655]: MPPE 128-bit stateless compression enabled Feb 10 21:12:00 reg-laptop pppd[2655]: local IP address 10.243.249.22 Feb 10 21:12:00 reg-laptop pppd[2655]: remote IP address 10.243.249.20
verifying with ifconfig, my ppp0 ip is correctly set to 10.243.249.22 - i can also ping this ip but i tried to ping other ips in our network and i can't reach any of them - did i mess up the route maybe? Content of my /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/route-traffic:
I am running 64-bit 9.10 on a Acer Aspire 1810T. I can connect to the internet via both wifi and the Novatel U998 modem. I have a PPTP VPN that works correctly via wifi, but does not work via the modem. The obvious problem would be that the ISP is doing something... but I'm dual booting Windows 7, and the ISP's Windows based software is able to connect to the VPN without issue.
I'm running VMWare player to be able to access my required Windows apps, so I'm almost in a position to dump MS if I can get this VPN issue resolved.
I'm using Kubuntu 9.10, my pppd version is 2.4.5 and pptp is 1.7.2 I'm trying to connect to the iPredator VPN service, but I keep running into problems with LCP. I've tried using knetworkmanager, nm-applet, kvpnc and plain old text-based configuration to no avail. Here's a snippet of pppd's output:
[Code].....
(I've got "defaultroute" in my /etc/ppp/peers/ipred config file.) Any ideas what could be causing this? Could it even be my router? It claims to support PPTP, but considering it claims a lot of other things which aren't true, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the culprit.
Tried to install pptp vpn server via webmin, and I tried connecting remotely from my laptop, but it keeps failing on the verify username and password - I get a error 778 it was not possible to verify the identity of the server. Not sure what could be wrong with the config..
I've configured a pptp VPN using KNetworkManager. It works fine. Now I want to have it started automatically then my network interface is assigned a particular IP from my home DHCP server. I don't need it in other places. I guess there is no such built in functionality, but may be it can be scripted somehow?
I'm trying to configure internet access using KDE network manager. Added new VPN connection, set gateway and other options but connection breaks. Here is /var/log/daemon.log
Code: Jul 1 17:35:22 dvinokurov-desktop NetworkManager: <info> Starting VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp'... Jul 1 17:35:22 dvinokurov-desktop NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp' started (org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp), PID 1761 Jul 1 17:35:22 dvinokurov-desktop NetworkManager: <info> VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp' just appeared, activating connections ..... log[ctrlp_rep:pptp_ctrl.c:251]: Sent control packet type is 12 'Call-Clear-Request' Jul 1 17:36:02 dvinokurov-desktop pptp[1773]: nm-pptp-service-1761 log[call_callback:pptp_callmgr.c:79]: Closing connection (call state)
As I understand the main problem is in "(IP Config Get) timeout exceeded".
I'm trying to establish a connection to my ISP which uses PPTP protocol and a VPN server. The deivce I got from my ISP is a modem, not a router. The problem is my computer is unable to communicate with the ISP VPN server.
P.S Here are the instructions for Windows XP which work: http://portal.bnet.hr/ZG/windows-xp.htm
