Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Set Up Wifi Protected Set Up?

I just purchased an AirLink101 AR670W wireless router and it works just fine, states on the box that it works for all Microsoft Windows, Mac and Linux, but cannot get the CD to work, it comes up with a box that states cannot find the path in Archive manager. Without this cd I cannot use the software to put on WPS wifi protected set up, or the Nat+Spi firewall.I checked the manufacturers website and all it states is how tose the software in MS Windows. I have the latest version of Ubuntu which I think is 11.04

I'm running opensuse 11.2 on a Dell laptop with a intel wifi card.
I'm at a hotel with wireless protected by the MAC address. My MAC address is already registered and allowed to connect. However when I connect, the connection hangs just a few minutes and I got disconnected.
I tried to id some problem by scanning it with wireshark, but I did not found anything.
I wonder if there's some kind of MDNS problem...

I have this project for my operating systems class and I have put together the basic flow chart to aid me in writing the program. I know how to use pipes as a buffer to hold info. I know how to create a binary semaphore. But what I dont know is this:
How to "use a delay adjustment parameter K in the critical section to adjust the speed of the display process to show that without semaphore protection the displayed contents of the buffer are randomly interleaved."
First off, I am definitely not asking anyone to give me the solution. But I do need some guidance. So I figure there will be an if statement with two options:
1. If true, use semaphore protection to enter/exit critical section
2. If false, no semaphore protection -- this is where the contents of the buffer should be interleaved.
Now does that mean that as each child process enters the non-protected critical section, it should "sleep" for a randomized time? I mean, will this allow my output to be interleaved?
So lets say my command line looks like this:
what happens to the 100? Is it randomized using rand and srand and passed as a parameter to sleep() inside the critcal section?

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04, everything is fine, but the wireless. When I try to connect to my WPA2 protected network, it is grayed out. SO I click Connect to Hidden Wireless Network, and this window pops up. I put in my network name, the security type, and password. It acts like it is connecting, the wireless icon is going up and down. But then another window pops up, saying Authentication required by wireless network and the down arrow is grayed out. My laptop has an internal wireless device and a button to turn it on/off, but since it has bad reception I use an external USB wireless adapter.The problem is that if I turn the internal wireless device off using the button, it also turns the USB wireless adapter off.Is there anyway to use the killswitch (the button) only for the internal wireless device?This only started to happen in Ubuntu 10.04.

I have only had a few weeks worth of experience with linux, so I'm probably considered a newbie at this but I felt like giving it a shot. I just configured my new Toshiba Satellite A505-S6969 to jaunty. Most of the transition is going well but I'm stuck with a few issues, one of which is getting my wifi to work. Installed ubuntu 9.10 dual boot with win7 yesterday. Everything working but Wifi. Wifi works fine with Win7. No Wifi in Ubuntu. Very confused. I have info from the wifi trouble ticket post.There does not seem to be a driver for this card anywhere.

get WIFI working on my Dell D600 with Ubuntu 11.04 freshly installed. I some limited sucched following the this post t=1621331 this got the card working but it was very very slow over 70% packet loss to the WIFIrouter. 1. I'm using wifi card to connect to wifi network (internet) and i'm planing to share this wifi/internet connection via ethernet to wireless router (siemens sx763) so i can have internet on my other devices, e.g. mobile phone, laptop.

I am running (K)Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 64bit on a Dell Latitude E6400, WiFi Card Intel 5100. Never had any problems with networking. Up to about 2 weeks ago. I do realize there have been quite a few posts with this network adaptor, but non really described the problem I have here.
What happens is that suddenly the WiFi LED on the computer stops blinking, the WiFi connection gets disrupted, and the device is not recognized anymore when checking ifconfig. Only cold restarting the machine helps then... it will work for a while (between 1 and 20 minutes) and then crash again.
On Windows 7 the card works perfectly fine. With Ubuntu 11.04 in Live CD mode I have the same effects (connection crashes after a while). Also tried booting an older kernel, no success.

the only error message I can find comes from "dmesg|tail"all it shows is
"no IPv6 router"any body know what is going on here or where where to look for more clues the next time I get around public wifi Oh the windoze washers and apple polishers don't seem to have any problems at all

I have an old PowerBook G4 that I would like to use as a 'dummy' computer for learning wireless penetration (WEP/WPA attacks) more effectively. I had been using a wireless router, but I gave it away I can use Mac OS X to share an ethernet connection over wifi, but this is _very_ un-configurable. You get two options only, WEP and a key-length. So, I would like to install someway to make this wireless connection more configurable.

ive tried my hand and failed. My friend was using my computer nad he didnt safely remove his USB MP3 and now it is write protected. Ive tried windows diskpart (nothing), ive tried fsck ("disk maybe in use?"), i tried to format(write protected)ive tried otehr USB slots and other computers. This has happened to me sooo many times and i can never find a damn thing about it, can some one tell me how to fix this??? I am trying to copy a (custom XML) file to a protected folder (namely /usr/share/games/FlightGear/Protocol) for data Input/Output.I tried copying and pasting the folders and it doesn't work. i have 2 users on my login window.one of them is password protected, the other is just a single click to login.
1) how can i get the password protected user to disappear but show up under certain circumstances. like, some soft of hidden key combination or the like?
Getting this done isint as important as the second part though
2) when a user logs in, what happens? What file gets executed to start the login processes? I want to know because i would like to make one of the users a guest account that removes all changes upon logoff.

I want to listen to my iPod Touch 4g using Banshee, connecting is not a problem, my problem is that all the songs are protected so when one song is done it just stays there idle it doesn't play any other songs. Is there a way to unprotect them so I can listen to them w/o worrying about it turning idle?

I have a flash drive that is write protected and in RAW format(so not formatted). I've tried everything I can find to make it usable again in Windows but I ran out of options. I quickly found about the Gnome Partition Editor, but when I try to start it, it gets an icon in the taskbar that says "Starting GParted" and then it closes. Is some other way I can format my flash drive or do I need to find out why gparted isn't running?

I created a password-protected .doc file in Windows yesterday using the latest version of OpenOffice (3.2.1)Opening the file worked perfectly; double-clicked the file, OpenOffice popped up and prompted me for the password, then it let me edit the document as usual.Tried it on another computer with Microsoft Word; worked perfectly as wellFor some reason though, it won't work in Ubuntu (10.10). I'll double-click the file, it'll open with OpenOffice and prompt me for the password, but once it opens it's in "Read Only" mode.I tried it on another Windows computer, just to see if it would work, and it did.I right-clicked the .doc file and looked at the permissions: (picture edited for privacy)Every time I tried changing it from "Read-only" to "Read and write" it automatically (and immediately) switched back to "Read-only"
