Mounting it goes fine, but can't write, create folders, etc. to the NTFS part. Started looking for people with similar problems online and found the guide on this site, so I installed ntfs-config and went through the steps, checking "Enable write to internal device", etc. Still no good. After coming home one evening I found my server was turned off. My suspicions lead me to believe we had a storm and the power went off, then the UPS went off and finally at that point the server went off too. I think my server was set to allow security updates. After it turned of and restarted it seems it made a change to Grub and upgraded it to Grub2. In doing so I now get the following message:
Error 13: Invalid or un supported executable format

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed a fresh copy of Fedora 11 on my old win server 2003 machine. I have 2 x 250gig drives on this machine that are not the system drives. Fedora automounts them when I double click on them which is fine, but I would like them to automount as the system starts up and eventually make them available automatically to all other computers on the network. I was wondering how I could change the name of the 2 drives without wiping them.
One never had a name on my 2003 server so when it mounts it's name is something like this: A6CC5216CC51E0DB. Is there a way for me to change these? I tried using the Palimpsest Disk Utility, but it always gives me an error : "fstype ntfs not supported" , So is there a way to change the label name even if it's ntfs? If not, can I easily convert to another filesystem without losing the data on the drives? Also when this is done, I assume I have to make an entry in the fstab to automount, is this correct?
I have just installed a Canon Pixma iP2200 on Fedora 14. The installation 'seemed' to go OK but whenever I try to print anything I get the following error:
"There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-document-format-not-supported'."
I have done a bit of searching and the only advice i could find is to uncomment some lines in /etc/cups/mime.convs and /etc/cups/mime.types but I don't have either of those files!

I have tried to format everything as one big chunk in NTFS with Gparted without success.
I have also tried something i found on the net under windows:
1.click Start>>run>> type "CMD">> enter
2.type format X: /FS:NTFS (X would be the drive letter)
but it won't let me format the UDF part.
A neighbor of mine just got a Canon Pixma MP450 printer, to replace an old HP printer, and I am trying to get it to work with Fedora 11 installation from a machine they have borrowed from me. The printer gets recognized upon plugging it in but when I try to print a test page from the printer properties I receive the following error:'client-error-document-format-not-supported'
The driver that is selected for the printer is "Generic Driver" I have tried to select a driver but have not found any Canon drivers from the selection dialog box. After searching the web I see mention of a Canon MP150 driver working for the MP450 but I have not found this driver. Is there a driver I have to install from YUM or download from Canon? Are there others successfully using this printer and if so what have they done to get it to work?

The server will have another drive for booting. What is the best way to get these mirrored drives into ext format while preserving my data? I plan to use software raid in Ubuntu as well. My only idea is to format a 3rd drive as ext and copy all the files over, seems inefficient though.

When using the Yast partitioner to partition a USB stick, I noticed there was no option for the ntfs format, but has the fat option. Is this a missing functionality/lib or by design? I have all of the ntfs stuff installed. I used to use gparted for this, but decided to make my self use the Yast tools. I like to keep them in ntfs format to get around the 4GB data transfer limit and have them readable by Linux and Windows.

Attempting install of 11.3 on previous 11.2 dual windows boot box. I want to format the Linux parts including /Home and retain the Win / NTFS part. (dual boot) Peculiar behavior of install DVD. Here is fdisk -l that clearly indicates a 500 GB HD and the Win partition, extended partition and the 3 basic Linux partitions and they seem okay in total.

I aborted the installation. What could possibly cause the 11.2 parts and bootloader to get this wacked up ? Outside of some sound issues the 11.2 install works okay for the most part. No crashing or lockups. Really want to get up to 11.3. though. I obviously have some work to do with 35 GB of missing space on the HD and Grub living someplace on the wrong side of the river. Suggestions and a pointer or two would be most welcome guys. ( I really don't want the pain of installing that �other� OP system or I'd reformat and reinstall nice and clean.) Do I need to repartition, change mount points and reinstall Grub maybe.

This drive has the new Advanced Format with 4k physical sectors. Some people have had performance problems with these drives. I want to make sure Fedora 11 can format the drive corectlly.
I tried to install Win 7 from the DVD and it didn't work at first because my Ubuntu is not in NTFS which is require for Win 7 to start installing. But the Win 7 doesn't have the option to format the harddrive for me so I went back to Ubuntu to format it.
