Im trying to run synergy on startup. This works fine on the client, but it wont start automatically on the server. I put this line in an entry in startup applications:

I have setup a CentOS 5.5 server as a DHCP server. That will be it's only task in a Cisco callmanger VoIP environment The DHCP server that comes with CentOS 5.5 is from ISC V3.0.5 -redhat.
The server (HP DL360) has two physical NIC's of which only NIC1 is used (ETH0)

I'm configuring a new Centos 5.5 server in replacement of an old W2K server.The topology of our network is simple : one file/dhcp/dns relay server and workstations (PC's and some MAC's) plus network printers and scanners.All the workstations have dynamic IP addresses (easier because a lot of 'dynamic' changes : new persons with their own laptop, ...) and the server and printers/scanners have fixed IP addresses.I edited the dhcpd.conf (see here underneath), I have the file dhcpd.leases but it doesn't start !

Everything seemed to go well enough. Stock lighttpd.conf. However, it won't start on boot. Not even manually via:

I have reinstalled mysql-server-5.1 using the command "sudo apt-get --reinstall install mysql-server-5.1".
But its giving error message at the end of installation when its trying to start the server.
The error message is as follows.
When i tried to start the server after the installation, i get this error message
Note : The file "/etc/mysql/my.cnf" is empty.
I run a headless Ubuntu file server which I access remotely via ssh or using VNC. After reboot, short of moving monitors around, is there anyway to start the GUI and continue using VNC as I normally would? I still rely on the GUI to get done what I need for the most part.

i tried doing this but on windows with another machine if i try to connect at this ip it says me "connection refused"
how to properly start a new x-server(duh!), but i have few a couple questions to be more direct. The main purpose is to play games and such, also other utilities such as connect through ssh to another pc.
Now to the questions: -Does the use of a new x-server really improves game perfomance? In my tries i couldn't notice, but the obvious advantage of return to regular desktop without quiting the game seems not that great when switching between servers lagged a lot( in the tries).

I would like to know how I can make GDM to start the x server with another display number (and on different vt).
The reason for this is that I have a chroot environment and I believe I have installed the necessary packages but when I do $ /etc/init.d/gdm start it seems to start but no new x server is running on any of the vt.
i'm having problems to start the jstatd.i already tried all examples listed in jstatd man, but i always get an exception when i try to start this daemon.

I had recently setup an OpenVPN server on x64 10.04 via the guide found at: [url]
Everything was working perfectly, all clients were able to connect etc.
Today I needed to reboot for a completely unrelated issue - only to find that upon logging in, openVPN was no longer running.
When I tried to execute 'sudo /etc/init.d/openvpn start' I'm presented with an interesting message...
This *used* to say Server. I've double checked all the configs and scripts used in the config and they all check out OK. I purged and reinstalled openVPN to no avail...
I just installed Kubuntu (10.04), did some upgrades and updates then upon booting the computer wont go beyond the login page. at first it posted a message (Xsession:warning: unabele to write to /tmp; X session may exit with an error).I followed some instructions from the net which asked that I do the following:
ctr+alt+f
aptitude clean of apt-get clean
cd /var/log

after this, when I login it no more goes off, but the desktop wont still come on, instead a terminal (konsole) window is open but when I try start x it refuses.(the only method I use to start my computer successfully is though the recovery mode)
I know Ubuntu is opensource and free to use and develope, but can one start a company and install Ubuntu Server on a server and sell it, as one complete package?

This is my first attempt doing anything within Ubuntu.Here are my issues:I'd like help with the murmur.ini setup. I'm having a hard time getting the server to start up in Ubuntu. I have a wireless router in the mix as well. It looks like I can get the SuperUser password set and have murmur see the correct ini for it's settings, but I get an error when i finally try to start the server. The error says:
"Server: TCP Listen on xxx.xxx.x.x:64738 failed. The address is not available"I'm confused as to what IP I need to point murmur to. I've tried a bunch of IPs with nothing working.Should I be using the IP of the server (the laptop I'm running murmur on)?Should it be pointing to the IP of the wireless router (192.168.2.1) that connects the server (laptop) to the internet?Should the IP be the dynamic IP that I get from my ISP? Here are the lines of code from the ini file: # Specific IP or hostname to bind to. If this is left blank (default), murmur will bind to all available addresses.

Running Ubuntu 10.10 x64, fully updated kernel and stuff, in VMWare Workstation 7.
Before I tried installing the Nvidia driver, I set up all my stuff, settings, etc. Restarted several times, everything went okay.
I then decided to install the Nvidia drivers for my GTS 250. I first tried the manual install (sudo sh NVIDIA-INSTALL-NAME.run) and it failed saying something about the nvidia.ko or nvidia.so. I tried using this page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9203671 to fix it, but it still failed, so then I used the automatic method (sudo apt-get install nvidia-current) and it installed fine, then I ran nvidia-xconfig and restarted.
The VM started up, but no GUI came up, instead, a black screen with a terminal (I think it's called a Virtual Terminal) came up and asked me to log in. I tried the command "startx" from there, and it told me no screens were found.
What can I try?

I recently upgraded to the 2.6.35-27 kernel, but it seems that the X-server will always segfault if I try to load the ATI driver for it. If the ATI driver is turned off then nothing bad happens but then I'd be running without graphics acceleration.
I'm currently using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870. For now, to avoid this issue I'm still using the older 2.6.35-25 kernel, in which the driver seems to work just fine.
I wonder if there's anyone else having the same issue?
