Cheese Webcam Booth used to work fine but now it just closes after I open it, Facebook wont load my webcam (but other websites can, and I wanna take a picture. I'm using a Logitech Webcam. I don't know what kind because it doesn't say anywhere on the stupid thing, but it has a spinny thing (to adjust the focus I think) that says "Right Sound" on it, and it also has a microphone.

THey are both HD Logitech webcams and give me a great image until they freeze.
I have a script running at the moment via cron which takes a picture every minute from my webcam. gst-launch-0.10 v4l2src num-buffers=1 ! jpegenc quality=95 ! filesink location=/home/user/$picture.jpg However, the camera is only on for one second and takes the picture which leads to very dark images as the light sensor hasn't had a chance to work yet. However, if I load up Cheese, it brightens after about 10 seconds of the camera being on. Is there anyway of adding in a delay to the pipeline above so the camera stays on for 10 seconds before actually saving the file to a jpg?

It should be 0x093a Ox2468 , but this isn't rootcause.. or ? it's listed in module aliases..

i have sony viao vgn-fz11 Can someone please help ,im new user to ubuntu been trying to get webcam working properly at the moment its upside down and does not work in skype at all just get black screen does this look correct? do i have the right driver?i will try and give as much information as i can.

At the begining, after the instalation of 10.04 in a new laptop, the webcam did not work but with a lsusb I see that the webcam was Webcam 5986:0241 acer. I was not able to config neither use the webcam with any application. After lots of test and forums reading I could not do my webcam to work, and now when I do a lsusb my webcam does not appear.

I've only come to one problem now. my mom is in love with this Microsoft Picture It program, where she can fix red eyes, chance colors, contrast, tints, ect. View 1 Replies View RelatedSo some videos works correctly played in VLC (1.1.9), but some doesn't.For instance I tried to play a VMW file (the video codec for that video in particular is : Windows Media Video VC1 (WVC1) ).The file plays with sound, but the picture is just black so no video picture. Now I have the regular codec package installed and in most cases everything works fine, but for instance this video doesn't and there have been similar cases in the past aswell.

As long as the resolution of the external monitor is set to 1024x768 I can watch video with VLC, mplayer etc.
But once I set its resolution to 1280x1024 all mediaplayer play only sound. This happens on the external screen and on the built-in screen of the notebook. The desktop is extended to the external screen.
I just installed ubuntu 10.10 in a VM and went to change my desktop to something less boring and brown. I see in the desktop wallpaper program that there are certain photos that are in clusters (like you can click the photo and the next photo will come up and so forth). If I set my desktop to this cluster of sorts will it show me the photos sequentially or will it just stick to the first one. If not, is there a way to show this cluster sequentially in my background where it would change say, every minute or so?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Mythbuntu on my old laptop (lenovo with on board graphics card). I have now the problem that when I connect the TV out to my TV the picture is flickering. It looks like the image is sometimes jumping to the left or right for a fraction of a second. This usually happens when the image is not still, ie I scroll the menue or a movie is playing. I already tried different display settings but that didn't help.

I currently have an amd dual core 2.2ghz processor and a H3200 ati graphics card which is more than capable of playing HD and blu ray perfectly in windows. I'm running ubuntu 9.10 with the latest graphics drivers 10.2. If I can movies etc., to play without lag etc., I can finally delete my windows partition. I want to avoid using a virtual machine for now.

I am having problems: videos have sound, but no picture.I'm using a Gigabyte motherboard with integrated ATI video, and I've read before that XBMC (and Ubuntu in general) don't like ATI too much. Is there any hope left to make XBMC work?I've tried the following:1. Fresh Ubuntu installation, default ATI drivers. Result: when starting a video, audio is okay, but no video. Also, visibly slow graphics even while navigating XBMC menus
2. Installed ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX driver via System->Hardware drivers. Result: significantly accelerated menu navigation, but no video still. Note: having no problems watching videos via VLC or Totem Movie Player (after downloading proper codecs)3. Fresh Ubuntu installation, then downloaded and installed ATI's proprietary Linux drivers from ATI's site (ati-driver-installer-10-7-x86.x86_64.run). Result: yippee, I see some video, but wait: no color!! (all videos are in sepia-like mode)
4. Followed these instructions to install the unofficial ATI drivers. I am looking for a program that would be able to recover some of my pictures. They seem to be corrupt. I know that there are several programs, really quite simple to use, to download from the web such as "Art Plus Digital Photo Recovery" and "PixRecovery". I was wondering if there are similar programs out there that can be installed on Ubuntu? Also, I have to mention it, when I try to open them with the "Image Viewer" an error message pops out which says : Could not load image 'picture.JPG'. Beneath that there is also this : Error interpreting JPEG image file (Improper call to JPEG library in state 200).

There is no picture and no sound, just a black screen that I can't control in any way. Even to close it, I have to go through the terminal.I can still get channels using Mplayer, so the tuner should not be the problem. However, t is an Hauppauge 950.I was using Lucid on both partitions. Initially, one quit,but not the other. About a month later the other quit while I was watching which makes me think it may be something I have simply hit on the keyboard. I have since upgraded to Maverick on one and reinstalled Tvtime to no avail

Does anyone have a clue on how to get this fixed, or if its even possible to get it fixed? I've tried searching guides for it without anyluck. And when i'm trying to set it to use gmplayer or totem it dosn't work either, mplayer and totem dosnt get either picture or sound.
View 5 Replies View RelatedUsing Ubuntu Maverick and Totem, DVD playback has a slightly shaky picture and a little static at the top and bottom of the picture. Also, top level menus sometimes don't display, or the menu displays but movie won't play, or just nothing happens when trying to play a DVD movie. This problem is happening on two completely different boxes with clean installs. DVD playback seemed OK on Kubuntu and Xubuntu 10.10, as was OK on 10.04. Is this a known issue? And if so, is there a patch?
