I have the 64bit version of SuSe 11.2 installed on my PC. For some reason it cannot read a Jessops photo cd which reads ok on a windows pc or any other cd with photos on it, it has no problem reading other cds with program files on them.

the UNIX manual pages work, the Application Manuals show nothing, and the openSUSE Documentation shows the same error. This is the same no matter what I search for.
I'm trying to use Pinta Image Editor but I cannot find an option to preview the image, in a viewable size, before I work on it.
what to do in this situation? Prefferably it would be nice to view all the pictures as thumbnails.
i had just edited a picture in digikam that was going to be my new desktop wallpaper.when i went into system/preferences/appearance to make the new change it would not show the new picture that i had just edited as a choice to change my new wallpaper to. then i tried closing the appearance box and it would not close.then i shut down and restarted and when i bring up the appearance box it does not let me click on anything within.also can't close it.seems like other applications are working normally.

Sound Juicer could not find any CD-ROM drives to read.
There is a CD and a DVD on one machine and a USB CD drive on the other. This used to work some time back (at leasr May 2009)
I'm converting my parents to ubuntu, so they stop complaining about how slow there windows installation is. I've only come to one problem now. my mom is in love with this Microsoft Picture It program, where she can fix red eyes, chance colors, contrast, tints, ect. Is there a program I can get for ubuntu thats very simple like Picture it? she is extremely computer illiterate, so the easier the better.

I'm using a Logitech Webcam. I don't know what kind because it doesn't say anywhere on the stupid thing, but it has a spinny thing (to adjust the focus I think) that says "Right Sound" on it, and it also has a microphone.

Now I have the regular codec package installed and in most cases everything works fine, but for instance this video doesn't and there have been similar cases in the past aswell.

As long as the resolution of the external monitor is set to 1024x768 I can watch video with VLC, mplayer etc.
But once I set its resolution to 1280x1024 all mediaplayer play only sound. This happens on the external screen and on the built-in screen of the notebook. The desktop is extended to the external screen.
I just installed ubuntu 10.10 in a VM and went to change my desktop to something less boring and brown. I see in the desktop wallpaper program that there are certain photos that are in clusters (like you can click the photo and the next photo will come up and so forth). If I set my desktop to this cluster of sorts will it show me the photos sequentially or will it just stick to the first one. If not, is there a way to show this cluster sequentially in my background where it would change say, every minute or so?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Mythbuntu on my old laptop (lenovo with on board graphics card). I have now the problem that when I connect the TV out to my TV the picture is flickering. It looks like the image is sometimes jumping to the left or right for a fraction of a second. This usually happens when the image is not still, ie I scroll the menue or a movie is playing. I already tried different display settings but that didn't help.

Dolphin / Konqueror auidiocd:// KIO slave shows the mp3 folder, but when you move the tracks you get: Could not read some_song.mp3: encoding failed WARNING: libsndfile may ignore -r and perform fseek's on the input. Compile without libsndfile if this is a problem. I'm running 11.3 (KDE 4.4.4) with K3B 2 from Packman (with the k3b 2 codec package) and K3B fails as does the KIO slave method above. Lame version is: lame-3.98.4-2.pm.4.1.x86_64 Restricted multimedia formats packages are installed from Restricted formats/11.3 - openSUSE Community Wiki Alsa works great otherwise, I have no sound issue, etc. - just can't rip anything to mp3 Seems like I'm not the only one who has had this problem, there are a few posts here on the Suse Forum, and others elsewhere, but the resolution seems to be nebulous at best. Now there seems to be only placeholder pic for every user on this computer, but of course I want to have real picture there to greet the users. So the question is, where can I change the pictures?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using ubuntu for several years now and one thing I've always have had problems with is getting a smooth picture when viewing videos. I currently have an amd dual core 2.2ghz processor and a H3200 ati graphics card which is more than capable of playing HD and blu ray perfectly in windows. I'm running ubuntu 9.10 with the latest graphics drivers 10.2. If I can movies etc., to play without lag etc., I can finally delete my windows partition. I want to avoid using a virtual machine for now.

It works fine or a minute or two, but then the picture freezes.
Using Skype, Cheese or flash based ustream.
THey are both HD Logitech webcams and give me a great image until they freeze.
I was trying to use Cheese today to take a picture using my built in web camera on my laptop. I am able to start the program and when it goes to take a picture, the program counts down and then quits.
When I run from the terminal the error I receive is:

I am running the latest suse release downloaded directly from their website. I ran the installation after buring the dvd and everything seemed to be working fine. after the installation i ran updates and used it for a little bit. When i shut it down that night and went to restart it I got an error that stated the OS wasnt there. I then went through the installation and everything and it retained the information from the installation before (web history etc.) but for some reason every time I reboot or shut it down the system is not able to read the startup information from the hard drive and will not come on without me re installing it.

Is there any hope left to make XBMC work?I've tried the following:1. Fresh Ubuntu installation, default ATI drivers. Result: when starting a video, audio is okay, but no video. Also, visibly slow graphics even while navigating XBMC menus
2. Installed ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX driver via System->Hardware drivers. Result: significantly accelerated menu navigation, but no video still. Note: having no problems watching videos via VLC or Totem Movie Player (after downloading proper codecs)3. Fresh Ubuntu installation, then downloaded and installed ATI's proprietary Linux drivers from ATI's site (ati-driver-installer-10-7-x86.x86_64.run). Result: yippee, I see some video, but wait: no color!! (all videos are in sepia-like mode)
4. Followed these instructions to install the unofficial ATI drivers. I am looking for a program that would be able to recover some of my pictures. They seem to be corrupt. I know that there are several programs, really quite simple to use, to download from the web such as "Art Plus Digital Photo Recovery" and "PixRecovery". I was wondering if there are similar programs out there that can be installed on Ubuntu? Also, I have to mention it, when I try to open them with the "Image Viewer" an error message pops out which says : Could not load image 'picture.JPG'. Beneath that there is also this : Error interpreting JPEG image file (Improper call to JPEG library in state 200).

There is no picture and no sound, just a black screen that I can't control in any way. Even to close it, I have to go through the terminal.I can still get channels using Mplayer, so the tuner should not be the problem. However, t is an Hauppauge 950.I was using Lucid on both partitions. Initially, one quit,but not the other. About a month later the other quit while I was watching which makes me think it may be something I have simply hit on the keyboard. I have since upgraded to Maverick on one and reinstalled Tvtime to no avail
