Iam on Lucid Lynx using gpodder 2.2 from the ubuntu repo
When I attempt to sync my Ipod video, I get cannot open device.
Gpodder shows in the additional components everything is available.
I've made a lot of progress getting my easycap 2.0 usb capture device to work with ubuntu 10.10. I've got the picture up any everything works great. But about a minute into the stream it just freezes, I need to go into "playback" and either pause then play, or click "next", it then refreshes and works again for another minute or so. I'd believe it if someone says faulty hardware because the easycap is cheap, but I don't think that's the case. Additionally, is there any way to set VLC so that when I open it, it automatically opens with my video capture device (/dev/video0) so that I don't have to go into the options and change it every time?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been working on a small program to perform a very specific and useful task of quickly and efficiently converting videos to go on any Apple Ipod or Iphone. This includes both classic and 5th generation Ipods as well. Ibulk is a command-line only program but incredibly easy to use and runs off FFmpeg with AAC functionality. The program comes with a Read Me file which will explain its options and instructions in concise detail. Ibulk converts several videos in its input folder to the desired H.264 or XviD video encoding to its output folder. All videos are created in mp4 format with 160Kbps 48000Hz audio sound quality (highest setting an Ipod can handle) and both video encoders at the highest bitrate an Ipod can handle with the exception of some videos which will be auto-adjusted to meet the Ipod's requirements. Ibulk is written in the native unix/linux language and so it should work on any linux distro.

View 6 Replies View Relatedsome days ago I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and now I have a problem with my webcam. I like to use chatroulette and mebeam, therefore I have to use programs like webcamstudio/flashcam... (Flash does not accept the normal cam device v4l2 and webcamstudio puts it to v4l loopback). The problem is that Ubuntu is detecting only v4l2 and not v4l, so that I don't have an output device in webcamstudio.
When I type:
ls -l /dev/video*
the answer is only:
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 2010-05-08 17:59 /dev/video0
and nothing more

I am trying to connect my 2nd Gen Ipod to Xubuntu and import my music collection onto the Ipod. I am having real problems with this. Rhythm Box does not recognise the Ipod with the plug-in, I have tried Amarok, but each time I tried to open it, it just crashed, tried sending a bug report but that did not want to work. I have also tried Exaile with the Ipod plug-in but when you go to the device manager you can click on the Ipod but nothing happens. I have tried looking at the Exaile forums but this seems to be a problem for others as well. The Ipod mounts ok, now a bit stuck.

At this point my ipod shows on my desktop when i connect it via usb. I cannot set up the repository for it in gtkpod because i dont know the location its mounting to. if its mounting at all. so my question is. how can i tell where my ipod is being mounted? I dont have a clue what to look for in the terminal results for "df -a"

I've been trying to get my iPod touch (8GB, jailbroken) to connect with gtkpod iPod manager. But whenever I try to load the iPod I get this message.

I have seen a few sites that have referenced this but they were not written for new users and I could not figure out how to install it. I am fairly adept at usage of computers (mostly Windows OS) but am not yet familiar with Ubuntu so I am aware of the absolute basics... View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to get tvtime or any tv package to work with my Pinnacle PCTV HD usb but I have not had success. I have correctly installed every driver imaginable. So, here is what it what it comes down to: When I open tvtime it says "cannot open capture device /dev/video0" and the screen is blue. But my usb PCTV HD stick is NOT /dev/video0 so the question is how can I get tvtime to look for the usb tv tuner rather than video0?

The error message I'm given after trying to open through 'media>open capture device>play' is;

So my Microsoft Lifecam NX-3000 used to work with 9.04, but I can't seem to get anything from it now (Xubuntu 9.10). It still shows up fine when i enter lsusb, but it won't show up as a video device anywhere else. I have faith that this bug is a simple fix for someone who knows what they're doing, but unfortunately I don't. If it's relevant this is on my aging Toshiba Satellite.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was trying to burn an .iso with K3b a little while ago, and had some problems. First of all, even though I chose 8x to burn my (16x) DVD, it switched to 11x or 12x around halfway through the burning process. There were also some ticking noises that I'm pretty sure were coming from the DVD writer, not terribly loud, but noticeable. This had never happened before. Finally, it got stuck at about 98% (but not frozen, as the time elapsed kept going), and did not finish burning--got an error message (and a bad disc): "cdrecord has no permission to open the device"
I inspected the disc and there was one dark spot (on the dye) about halfway through the disc, very thin and couple of millimeters long. (This was present only after burning). I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, K3b version 1.91.0, Lite-On DVDRW SHW-160P6S

In Ubuntu 9.10, I was successfully able to use my Pinnacle Dazzle DVC 100 (a cheap USB analog video capture device). I use it for backing up old video that is stored on tapes, and it isn't working with my current install of Ubuntu 10.04. When I plug the device in, it should be detected and the em28xx module should be loaded. This fails and /var/log/messages has the following:

I can't seem to get my videos to open with VLC automatically. They open with the built in movie player, but I don't want that. I have VLC installed, but each time I have to right click on the file and go to Open With.

It's name ended with ++ and I can't remember anything else Basically, it was like StreamTransport but open source and multiprotocol capable. Can anybody help me find it again? Another thing as well. By default i have GNOME version. Just installed the KDE full package from synpatic. when i try to log in with kde manager same like the flash, it logs me out to welcome screen.
I recently installed VLC media Player and have been using it as the default application to view my video files.The audio files get opened in the Movie Player(the default one).But When I open the Video files in Movie Player ,The Colour gets distorted and all videos appear bluish in colour.Also the same thing happens when I open a video file in VLC after opening on the audio files in movie player (The colour gets distorted and appears bluish).

I have problem with VLC player. The problem, from the image below, appears whenever I open video file. I click Ok, and a everything is ok, until I jump to another time sequence, when sound and subtitles disappear.

I would like to transfer the thumnails that nautilus shows for my mp4 collection on to my ipod. I know I can generate my own and I could probably even mange a script. I know that they reside in ~/.thumbnails but the file names are nonsense and include all videos, photos I have viewed recently and other stuff.
Is there a simple way to determine which thumnail in ~/.thumnails is which?
I used to watch and record TV in Vista and Win7 with a SAA7134 capture card, and all worked fine. Using TVTime in Ubuntu 10.10 64bit (no upgrade but fresh install, everything up-to-date), I get picture but no sound. Instead I get this error message when running TVTime from the terminal: Can't open device /dev/mixer, mixer volume and mute unavailable.Using lspci in terminal lists the card as following:
