View 5 RepliesI have Ubuntu 9.10 dual booting with Windows7.My ext3 /home is mounted as F: in windows.I share a firefox profile between them so that when i am in Windows my firefox uses the same profile as it does when in Ubuntu. It all worked great until recently. I am unable to save files by right clicking and save as. In the config i am unable to set a directory to save to. It neer asks me where to save to. Just nothing happens. some off my book marks are all messed up as well, my rss feeds have the same post on some random website every time i log on and i have to manually refresh to get the correct feeds back. I am unable to delete the random bookmark.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 and from my id which has administrator rights, I am unable to save any files as well as unable to change the location in firefox. The firefox version is also in the snapshot as well as the options window. Is it that my profile has been corrupted or is there some bug in firefox.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with Firefox with the following scenario: When I view a picture from a website in the browser and the pictures gets deleted from the server (while I'm viewing it) - I can't save the picture to my hard drive. Firefox always tries to download the picture from the web-server although it's in the cache. Resulting in an image file which contains the HTTP 404 response from the server. *lol*
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't save files with the .hqx extension for some reason. Firefox was recently upgraded to 3.5.7 via Update Manager. Nothing happens when I click on a link pointing to a .hqx file no download status window. I can see that something is trying to download but it is not saved to disk. (Yes, I checked /dev/null first). My first stop was to edit > preferences > applications to see if the extension definitions got borked during the upgrade. Everything seemed normal except for the fact that I couldn't see an entry for .hqx files and no apparent method for manually adding it to the list. I went to another site that I administer and successfully download a .pdf file

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhile i realize it's certainly taboo to download a lot of videos videos and similar without permission, and possibly illegal in some countries due to copyright, i have also been reading that the video is clearly buffered in the page casche, so technically is stored on your machine already, but is only stored in ram. how can i save it from my firefox page casche? some mitigating info is that i have poor web speeds, and an old machine, which is not using all of the 1gig of ram for some reason.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow does one save files in MP3 (or MP4) format. This would apply to converting an existing audio file to MP3 or to ripping a CD.This question must be as old as Ubuntu, yet I find very little in our forums. What I do find, refers me to items that don't seem to be in the repositories anymore, so perhaps someone in the know can update us again.Yes it is lossy and proprietary, but it's fine for speech and produces a much more compact file than flac. Also, flac and ogg are not well known to non Linux users, programs and equipment. So, for compatibility, I often want to convert flac to MP3.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy mediacenter is attached to an beamer with the optimal resolution of 1280*720 ubuntu 10.04 doesnt offer me this revolution (on my intel 915 graphis controller). this means i have to add this resolution to the possible resolutions. first i used cvt
Code:
cvt 1280 720 60
and got this result:
Quote:
# 1280x720 59.86 Hz (CVT 0.92M9) hsync: 44.77 kHz; pclk: 74.50 MHz
Modeline "1280x720_60.00" 74.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 720 723 728 748 -hsync +vsync
then i added this to xrandr
Code:
xrandr --verbose --newmode "1280x720" 74.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 720 723 728 748 -hsync +vsync
and
Code:
xrandr --verbose --addmode VGA1 1280x720
now i can select and use the new resolution - until next reboot. after an reboot 1280x720 is again not available. even if i work with sudo - the resolution isnt there....
I had some issues with nvidia drivers, and removed all of the packages using
Code: Select allrm /etc/X11/xorg.conf and Code: Select allapt-get purge nvidia*
Upon reboot, I was back with nouveau drivers and proceeded to reinstall nvidia drivers according to [URL] .....
Code: Select allapt-get install nvidia-driver
apt-get install nvidia-xconfig
I can then change my refresh rate using
Code: Select allnvidia-settings
but when I hit "Save to X configuration file", I get the following output in terminal:
Code: Select allroot@debian:/home/anon# nvidia-settings
Package xorg-server was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `xorg-server.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'xorg-server' found
As a result, my nvidia preferences aren't saved across reboot.

When I click on download, it will ask for location to save and when I choose one (for example home or desktop), the page freezes, but firefox is still running, so I just have to close the tab. lately I'm experiencing a few issues with Firefox 5.0 on my Ubuntu 11.04 installation. First of all, when I try to open pdf files, I often get a black page and I've to try to reload it many times before I can effectively read the pdf (even for small-size ones).
Secondly Firefox doesn't record settings about my preferred applications. If, for example, I want a file .torrent to be opened by deluge I have to enter manually /usr/bin/deluge because by default it would be opened by gedit. No matter if I select "use as default application" the next time the issue will be present again.
I installed the greasemonkey script "..... without flash auto" to replace the ..... player with the default totem plug-in in firefox. The script is awesome because now I don't get bogged down with flash when watching ......
Everything works as expected, but the problem is that the plugin doesn't stream, I have to wait until the video finishes loading before I can play it. Ironically, if i don't use the plugin and directly open the video cache in /tmp with totem, it was able to play even when the video wasn't finished loading.
I am not sure if this is normal, but I find it a huge annoyance. Does anyone else running this script have the same problem? I don't know if it is the script, the plugin, or my configs in general. A push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
im running Xubuntu 10.04 btw
The symptom is that I can't no more listen to my favorite Web Radio [URL] if you want get a try, very good music: ). It's a steaming with the url like "mms://web-stite-broadcasting". I swear few upgrades ago it was working. I can't remember when exactly stopped, probably with the last firefox update. What happen? I can see the Totem Browser Plugin 2.30.2 loading and then..."Stopped", he says. If I click on "open with Movie Player", Totem starts and give the error "Could Not Write to resource".
Beside curse my browser I purged/reinstalled firefox and some plugins without success. The odd thing is that other web radios seems to play when, as I can see, the (in)famous plugin-container is not executed, I don't know why.
I recently installed Chromium and went to listen to one of my favorite podcasts, only to find that it wouldn't play. Like the title says, it plays perfectly well in Firefox. Is there some Chromium extension I need in order to play .mp3 files?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a Soekris net4801 that is running an unknown distro of Linux. The kernel is 2.4.29, and iptables is v1.3.4.
I can't work out how to save the iptables. I searched the whole system for files/folders containing the name "iptables" and got 3 results:
/user/local/lib/iptables
/sbin/iptables
/lib/iptables
I've tried iptables save, iptables-save and iptables save active.
"iptables save" and "iptables save active" give me an invalid argument error. "iptables-save" isn't a valid command. "iptables --help" gives me a list of valid switches, none of which have to do with saving.
how I can save the iptables?

Now if I click to print, I do get the corresponding page saved in ps/pdf format but only the first page is printed(i.e., saved in ps/pdf format) this way, leaving major portion(may be eight pages for example) of the corresponding webpage unsaved. (the option: range of printing: all pages is chosen by default.) Why is this happening and what should I do to print the entire page?
