I found out that every time I play a file from my Banchee playlist after restarting my computer it won't play. The cure for this is just opening places/ntfs partition.After that it plays the same playlist normaly. But it's anoying having to do this every time..
View 3 RepliesI have a dsi so all of my music in .m4a I have all the codecs/gstreamers packages installed and they are all from packman it's not my sound cause I can play them in vlc but in rhythm box it says that I do not have the proper codec to play the file. Any ideas? Also I'm on 11.2 latest updates.

I installed the required plugins and packages to get mp3 playback to work, but I cant seem to find a way to get it to play any mp4 files. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but a lot of my music is in that format and I cant get any of it to play.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI run Ubuntu 9.04 on with proprietary NVidia driver 180.44.When I change anything in the nvidia-settings, e.g. screen resolution, brightness, second screen etc, everything works fine - except for the fact that I can't play any video files in any player. Sound is there, players don't display any error messages, but the image is black. Flash video within browsers is fine, though.Things go back to normal with the new settings kept after restarting X. However, having to restart X and lose my desktop set up every time when I just want to connect my laptop to my office screen is highly inconvenient.Is this a bug or expected behaviour that I have to live with?

Same thing happens with Listen and Rhythmbox, but with a segmentation fault.
Amarok doesn't even get past the splash screen, but that's more or less okay because I'd rather stick with gnome.
Guayadeque is the only decent music player that works, and even it isn't without its issues. Audacious also works, but I don't like Audacious(the whole "one big playlist" system... ew).
Of course if I had my way I'd skip gnome music players entirely and go with foobar2000, but wouldn't you know it, that doesn't work either. [URL]
I'm using 10.04 beta, but these problems were present on 9.10 too.
I just added the liveradio extension to banshee which contains both magnatune and shoutcast support.
Magnatune works perfect..but for shoutcasts i can see all stations lists and load them ..but when i click play it stucks in contacting status .. it suddenly worked only one time and then it does not work.
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 on a Virtualbox VM under a Windows 7 host.Sometimes Banshee won't play anything. The play button doesn't change, the progress bar doesn't start moving, and Banshee says it's idle. This doesn't always happen, sometimes I can play a few tracks fine and then suddenly in the middle of a track Banshee will stop and nothing will get it going again. Other times it happens from startup. Neither restarting the player nor rebooting the VM necessarily helps.

When I try to listen to the music, it simply puts a red cross against each track. Since combining video and music is VERY common, this means I have a whole host of CDs that will not play. MS media player and VLC have no problems with these, so how can I make Banshee play them?

I see that whenever I try and run a video, the system defaults to try and run it in Banshee.Banshee, though, sits there with a black screen and the information on what it is supposed to be playing. Clicking the Play button does nothing. This includes OGG (OGV?) video files.Does anybody use this feature in Banshee and got it to work?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I found banshee and decided to try and manage my old music library for real. Many of my imported CDs are really old so they have little to no meta-data connected to them.
I found the last.fm fingerprinting addon and it seemed like it was the right thing. However I have some problems. Every time I try to use the fingerprinting I need to login to last.fm so for an album of 17 tracks I need to login about 17 times.
Connected to this is the problem that banshee doesn't seem to always write the new data to the file. I have checked that I allow it to write meta-data to file and change names of files. But sometimes it doesn't seem to stick. Is this how it is suppose to work? If not, how could i fix it? I haven't found any threads or pages that describe this problem. But I would assume this would be a problem for those with previously unmanaged audio tracks. On a side note. I would like to convert my mp3 and other formats to ogg or similar free format. What would you recommend for this? Can banshee do this? I haven't searched for this yet but I thought I'd ask anyway. Is there some nice app that can do this for a whole library or similar?

I need to manually increase then decrease the hue or saturation to get the picture to normal in smplayer. The colours aren't competely inversed as in the common bug with the totem sliders, they're just far too red and bright.Smplayer is the latest from PPA. I've checked the totem settings and everything is OK. It only takes two key presses to resolve but it's a pain, to be honest, so if anyone knows what causes this and how to fix it permanently I'd be much obliged.

View 5 Replies View RelatedTrying to sync a bunch of files to a 5.5-gen iPod with Banshee 1.6, on Lucid. I moved the files from my friend's computer to my Sansa View via UMS transfer; just dragged and dropped. The file lengths are correct on my player. My friend used Banshee to sync the same files, from the same computer, to his iPod. In Banshee and on his iPod, the files are all shorter. The files are supposed to be approximately 30 minutes each. In Totem on my friend's computer, and on my Sansa, the first file is 33:11. In Banshee and on his iPod, it's about 17:00. Some files have been cut down to two minutes long. This has happened across multiple albums in multiple folders. Clearly the problem is Banshee, since Totem recognizes the appropriate file length.

i don't have much space on my individual computers, so i have to keep my music files on my laptop with most of everything else on my PC. i want to have rhythmbox play music from my networked laptop, but i have a few issues.
for one, my laptop doesn't show up in Places --> Network
two, even if it did. i'm not exactly sure how i could get rhythmbox to do that. would i have to use SSH? connect everytime?
What is the minimum computer spec for playing 1080p flash files via a web browser smoothly at least 25fps? We all know that flash is not very good on Linux. On my old computer, I can play 720p flash files in the browser at arount 25fps on Windows, but on Ubuntu on the same computer via dual OS installation, it struggles to play 420p flash files in the browser. So basically, I want to build a new computer and have Ubuntu as the only OS, but this computer needs to be able to play 1080p flash files via the browser (not by downloading and converting them), but straight from the browser smoothly. Is this possible and what would the minimum computer spec need to be to achieve this?
