I don't know what I have done, but usually, when you want to download something from the internet, you click on the download icon and mozilla opens a small windows with 2 options. Open of Save file. Well, it's not working here anymore, I will attach what I get when I try downloading something. Is there anyway I can get all default settings from mozilla back? View 1 Replies View RelatedSkype doesn't recognise my plugged in mic and earphones. I can hear sound through the headphones from other programs. DVD burner burnt a cd for me, but seemed to pause at around 15-20% and sat there for half an hour. When I ejected CD it jumped to 100% stating it had finished. The CD was a Live Install CD for Ubuntu, which didn't work. I get I/O errors when trying to install from CD on start up. I'm guessing it didn't burn properly or isn't being read properly. I'm generally unsure of what drivers are installed for all of my hardware. Not sure if there is an auto-detection program in or for Fedora that can help, or if I will have to stop being lazy. Skype, like mentioned before. I'm not sure if this is a software issue or driver issue.
Mozilla failing to open. When clicking on the Firefox icon it wouldn't start. Shows an icon at bottom of monitor on toolbar, but disappears after 5-10 seconds with no browser opening. I had recently installed a VLC player with plugin for Mozilla while logged in as root. Wondering if I messed this one up myself? I stumbled onto updates and it had Mozilla install in there. It works again. I'm sure it won't be reoccurrent. If I were to post system specs and issues I'm having, would someone on this forum be willing to guide me through or point me in the direction of having my laptop fully operational? View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been doing periodic net-based dist upgrade since 7.10. Currently I use 9.10. Now that 10.04 is out, I want to upgrade to the latest LTS version by doing a clean install, instead of using net-based dist-upgrade.
Since I use Firefox, and Thunderbird, I want to keep the passwords/bookmarks I have stored in firefox, and mail/account settings (for multiple email accounts) that are in Thunderbird.
While I know I can copy the hidden profile directories for each, and back them up for recovery after the upgrade by copying them into the new 10.04 after install is complete, I don't know if this is recommended, prudent, or if pitfalls await me. Since I want to do a clean install, and, since 10.04 uses different versions of both Thunderbird and Firefox,
1. Would it be prudent to back up/use the existing profiles I have in 9.10, or should I bite the bullet and just start fresh with new profile setups when I finish installing 10.04? 2. Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of if I will be restoring a profile of each from 9.10?
3. Or, should I continue to do net-based dist-upgrades to 10.04 so appropriate profile changes can be made by the new versions of Thunderbird/Firefox software?
Is it safe to put my old .mozilla and .mozilla-thunderbird folders from xandros 4.2 into OSS 11.3? I have apps, emails, and settings that I would like to keep. This might seem like an over precautious question, but I've broken Xandros more than once. I would hate to do it to OSS.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to use Tucan or Gwget to download a file, it gives me a time like 2 minutes or 47 seconds, and downloads an empty file. I checked to make sure I was logged into my RS account, tried it with zShare, and again with several different links. Does the same thing with .rar or .avi, the extension doesn't make a difference. Thought it was Tucan at first, so tried Gwget instead and both are doing it. Until now they both worked fine.

This is what I did:I Try Ubuntu loading from my USB memory (1GB), run very good but with the 2 problems, but I thought it can be resolved installing.I installed along side with W7, couldn't boot Ubuntu, so I configured GRUB2 and it could enter now, but if I don't press **** after selecting Ubuntu it give me the BusyBox, and then the same 2 problems.I get rid of my W7 and did a Full Install on my 160GB HDD, hoping it can work fine, but no.I install all updates and no effect on that.

This occured when I tried to open the "SonyVegas 8.0 exe" . I have unzipped this file. I think "exe" has something to do with Windows, if so, is there a way I can convert this file so it can be adapted to my archive manager? Or is my archive manager not working, correctly? Does anyone else have these problems, also? Please, I want to be able to download things and my archive manager is the reason I can't.
I've looked around and can't find a working tuner for Ubuntu, online ones don't work and the ones I've downloaded I can't seem to get to pick up a sound.
