I'm having sporadic issues with the openoffice.org program. Sometimes, power point presentations will crash the program and then I can't open any open office programs without rebooting the computer. The problem seems to be just with powerpoint files and I'm not sure what the issue could be.
After downloading any program thats in ubuntu or uses wine to run before i can run it i've got to allow it to execute, is there a workaround for this? Im using 10.04 ubuntu desktop
When I run the updates option on it, it tells me that the virus engine is out of date. However, it does not automatically download it, nor does it suggest a site. Is there a way to get the program to automatically download updates? If not, can you direct me to a site that would have the updates? Also, if there is a more newbie-friendly or perhaps more reliable anti-virus program, could someone direct me to it?
I'm brand new to linux and just started with fedora 14. I'm trying to mount the resumemaker professional iso so I can download the program. It's a windows program so I'm not sure if that matters. I've spent the past 2 hours trying to figure it out.
i did: mkdir /mnt/iso for the new folder then: mount -o loop /home/jordanamman/ResumeMaker/ResumeMaker Professional 16.0 Deluxe.iso /mnt/iso
(I've tried like 20 different combinations from different websites so idk what I'm doing wrong)
I want to download Remmina Remote Desktop Client on a computer without an Internet connection, I have tried the option "download package files only" in synaptic but I can't see where the files are being installed to.
When I try to download software on playonlinux the program just freezes, and the screen glazes over. The program I am trying to download is internet explorer 7. I have wine. Do I have to have the files already on the computer, or is playonlinux supposed to download them.
I need a program that will limit download speed per connection. So that each download is limited to 100kbit/s for e,g. I tried trickled, it only limits whole application (and doesn't work with firefox). Also tried pyshaper, doesn't work. Is there such software?
I have already tried trickle and wondershaper. I need a program that can limit the speed of download/upload of an already running program. Similar to the how NetLimiter in Windows limits already running processes. Using Linux.

Is there an open source application that can download e-mails from a generic POP mail server, keep a copy of the mails locally and then deliver copies to multiple accounts on a LAN? I have a friend who uses a group e-mail account, and more than one person is always hooked onto that account. The problem is they cannot leave e-mail on the server, as it eats out their webhosting space, but if someone downloads a message in Outlook, the other users do not see that message.

In Windows 7, the options are pretty nice - ability to change track name, artist, composer, album, song number in album, etc., all from "Properties." In Ubuntu 10.10, Properties really gives you the bare minimum. Is there a program to download in order to get the same sort of basic options as one does from Properties in Windows 7?

I don't know what I have done, but usually, when you want to download something from the internet, you click on the download icon and mozilla opens a small windows with 2 options. Open of Save file. Well, it's not working here anymore, I will attach what I get when I try downloading something. Is there anyway I can get all default settings from mozilla back? (I will attach my download settings too)

I'm currently on LinuxMint. I'd like to start PHP scripting, but the browser doesn't want to open the file, only to download. I've red the description on Ubuntu's site how to bring apache2 and PHP together, but it simply cannot find php module. How on earth can I force Linux to act as a normal OS?
